Watch: Former Georgia QB Matt Stafford shows off crazy math skills

During the Detroit Lions draft party, former Georgia football QB Matt Stafford showed his crazy math skills.

If you thought all Matthew Stafford had was a really strong arm, well, you’d be incorrect.

The former Georgia quarterback and No. 1 overall pick in the 20019 NFL Draft went on the Lions draft party and showed some absolutely wild math skills.

Stafford was a first-team All American in 2008 at Georgia and was the first overall pick by the Detroit Lions in the 2009 NFL Draft.

As a 11-year starter in Detroit, he now leads the Lions in career passing yards by a mere 26,000 yards over second place.

Whenever Stafford decides to hang up his cleats, it’s nice to know that at the very least he has a bright future as an accountant.

Matt Stafford doing his part to help coronavirus first responders in Michigan

Former Georgia football star and Detroit Lions QB Matt Stafford is doing his part to help coronavirus first responders throughout Michigan.

Former Georgia quarterback Matthew Stafford, who was selected No. 1 overall by the Detroit Lions in the 2009 NFL Draft, is doing his part to help out his local community during the coronavirus pandemic.

Accompanied by his wife Kelly, who was a cheerleader at UGA when she and Matt met, the two have announced that they will pay for medical workers’ meals all throughout Michigan.

“We will be doing this at multiple restaurants in Michigan,” Kelly wrote on her Instagram story.

“I will announce them tomorrow here on my Instagram, so if you work at a hospital, please go grab a meal on us and please stay safe and healthy,” she added.

From Detroit television station WDIV:

The couple said they will cover up to $5,000 in orders made by first responders, including doctors, nurses, police officers and firefighters, during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The giveaway will begin on Thursday, March 26 from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Royal Oak Wahlburgers restaurant only. Customers should order online at wahltogo.com or on the Wahlburgers app. Only takeout or curbside delivery is available. First responders should be in uniform or show their ID badge.

After a difficult year for Matthew and Kelly Stafford, the Georgia alums were able to announce some goods news on Sunday.

Kelly, after undergoing brain surgery in April to remove an acoustic neuroma tumor, announced via Instagram from Disneyland that the couple is expecting their fourth child this summer.

“Got to enjoy one of the most magical places with my husband and 3 of our kiddos,” Kelly wrote.

“Baby stafford #4 due this summer (no worries, well before training camp). We won’t know whether the stafford kids will continue as a girl squad or if a little brother will enter the craziness until baby is here. Excited and exhausted!”

Kelly also added that the Stafford’s will “stay a party of 6.”

Kelly and Matthew began dating while she was a cheerleader at Georgia and he quarterbacked the football team. Matthew was selected with the No. 1 overall pick in 2009 NFL draft by Detroit and has thrown for 41,025 yards and 256 touchdowns in 149 career games for the Lions.

This game was a few weeks after I told Matthew I was expecting, well really before he found out. The day I found out I was pregnant, was the same day Matthew found out he had broken his back. With that news, I decided I would keep the pregnancy to myself because for so long we had been so worried about my brain and my recovery, I didn’t want him to have to think about me continuing to recover while growing a baby.. I wanted him to have a clear mind so that he could have a quick, successful recovery himself. That lasted 3 days. Matthew is sometimes too smart for his own good. While I was so focused on him, he was focused on me, with the littlest of things clueing him into what was going on. He asked if I was, I said yes, and we hugged it out. The next month & a half was hard and exhausting. Our 3 little ones were extremely sick for weeks, at least one of them throwing up a day.. everyone telling us it was a virus so they fought like the little warriors they are, only for it to turn into pneumonia. Poor things were not themselves for too long. I had zero energy. This pregnancy had been my toughest yet.. messing more so with my head & my balance, making me sick & constantly worried something else was wrong. Then there was my incredible husband trying to keep it together while dealing with his own health issue… & all of this with the holidays were quickly approaching.. & we all know how busy & hectic the holidays are. We made it through, completing all the holiday traditions we had made thus far as a family.. but we were very ready for these tables to turn. They did. At the beginning of jan, after strong antibiotics, our girls started to gain their personalities & weight back. Matthew had gotten word that his back had completely healed and because of symptoms I was having, I got an MRI on my brain that showed no residual from surgery & everything looked normal. We finally felt like we had caught a break. The past 15 months have really taken a toll on me and my family. Next month will mark a year from my brain surgery. It is a year that has helped my family grow in numbers and in strength, but it is a year that I never want to revisit. #StaffordStrong

The Green Bay Packers (12-3) square-off with the Detroit Lions (3-11-1) in an NFC East contest for bragging rights. Detroit sits at the bottom of the division, while Green Bay is looking to improve its playoff seed after clinching the division. The first meeting between these two teams back in Week 6 came down to the wire with the Packers edging out the Lions 23-22 at Lambeau Field.

  • Time: 1:00 p.m. ET
  • TV: FOX

While questionable calls may have been the difference maker in their first meeting, this time should be different. The Packers are on a roll with four consecutive victories, including a major 23-10 win in Minnesota last week. Aaron Rodgers completed 26 of 40 passes for 216 yards and one interception. It marked the ninth game that Rodgers had one or fewer touchdowns. No need to worry though, Aaron Jones stepped up for the offense with 23 carries for 154 yards and two touchdowns. Wide receiver Davante Adams is a major threat anytime the ball is in his hands and that bodes well against a Detroit defense that ranks last in the NFL against the pass (282.6 YPG)

Unlike earlier this season, the Lions won’t have Matt Stafford at the helm and are down to their third string quarterback David Blough. Detroit is currently riding an eight-game losing streak after a 27-17 loss to the Broncos. Blough totaled just 117 yards through the air and was sacked four times. Kerryon Johnson rushed for 42 yards on 10 carries in his return from the injury. The Lions will need to establish their run game to find success. Green Bay’s rush defense is ranked 23rd (116.7 YPG), while their secondary has recorded the fourth-most interceptions as a unit this year.

WATCH: Lions will keep Matt Patricia and GM Bob Quinn after bad season

The Lions announced a couple of decisions that have Detroit fans talking Tuesday.

The Lions announced a couple of decisions that have Detroit fans talking Tuesday.

First, news came out that team owner Martha Firestone Ford will keep both head coach Matt Patricia and General Manager Bob Quinn for the 2020 season.

Second, quarterback Matt Stafford’s season is officially done as the team announced that it has placed the 31-year-old on Injured Reserve.

Stafford hasn’t played since November 3rd, so the move isn’t exactly a shock. He has been with the franchise his entire career, now in his 11th season, but despite playing through a back injury for a while, the injury sidelined him last month and now has ended his season.

That’s bad news for this year as the Lions are winless without Stafford at QB. In eight games this season, Stafford looked pretty good. He threw for 2,499 yards and 19 touchdowns with just five interceptions.

While Stafford on IR is bad news for the remainder of this season, the management decision impacts all of next season.

Firestone Ford’s daughter, Sheila Ford Hamp, talked with a small group of reporters Tuesday and according to the Detroit Free Press, admitted that a coaching change, “would have been the popular choice, the popular decision and we knew that,” but said that the decision to keep Patricia for a third season is “what is right for the organization.”

The expectation from ownership is that in keeping Quinn and Patricia, the Lions will be a playoff team in 2020.

The Lions have lost seven games in a row, beginning with the last game Stafford played in.

The team visits the Broncos Sunday.
