PODCAST: Which path should Giants take in 2024 NFL draft?

This week on the Giants Wire Podcast, we look ahead to the 2024 NFL draft and offer our opinion while also breaking down free agency.

This week on the Giants Wire Podcast, we discuss the 2024 NFL draft and what the New York Giants might do in Round 1.

Will general manager Joe Schoen trade up? How about down? Will he stand pat and take a top-end wide receiver or hope a potential quarterback falls to him? We weigh those options and offer our take.

We also discuss the free-agent losses of running back Saquon Barkley and safety Xavier McKinney. Which was worse? And can Devin Singletary replace Barkley’s production?

Additionally, we evaluate the addition of edge rusher Brian Burns and break down what it means for the defense — specifically nose tackle Dexter Lawrence and linebacker Kayvon Thibodeaux.

Those topics (and more) are discussed in the latest episode of the Giants Wire Podcast, which is hosted by Ryan O’Leary (@RyanO_Leary on X) and joined by site editor Dan Benton (@TheGiantsWire).

PODCAST: Top takeaways from Giants’ new coaching staff

On the latest Giants Wire Podcast, we discuss the New York Giants’ coaching staff changes and offer up Super Bowl predictions.

Editor’s note: This podcast was recorded early on Wednesday morning before the Giants announced coaching promotions, additions, and changes.

This week on the Giants Wire Podcast, we discuss the reshuffled New York Giants coaching staff, including a pair of new coordinators — Shane Bowen and Michael Ghobrial. We also address several new assistant coaches.

And what of offensive coordinator Mike Kafka? Will he resume play-calling duties in 2024 or will head coach Brian Daboll assume full control?

Finally, our Super Bowl predictions. Who wins and who are we rooting for — the Kansas City Chiefs or the San Francisco 49ers? There’s a lot of love for Steve Spagnuolo but…

PODCAST: Injuries, infighting and a Giant failure for Brian Daboll

This week on the Giants Wire Podcast, we discuss the Brian Daboll-Wink Martindale drama, injuries and another lost season for the Giants.

Editor’s note: This podcast was recorded early on Tuesday morning before additional details of the Brian Daboll-Wink Martindale drama came out and before the two sides “mutually parted ways.”

This week on the Giants Wire Podcast, we discuss the humiliating circus drama that is the New York Giants. What went wrong between head coach Brian Daboll and defensive coordinator Wink Martindale? Neither should be immune to criticism.

Daboll’s decision to hold an 8:30 a.m. press conference on Black Monday to avoid answering questions about Martindale was a poor choice that created bad optics.

Martindale’s “24 hours” display in Week 18 was equally as immature.

Also, how are the Giants still among the NFL’s most-injured teams? Is this an issue the organization will ever get a handle on?

Those topics (and more) are discussed in the latest episode of the Giants Wire Podcast, which is hosted by Ryan O’Leary (@RyanO_Leary on X) and joined by site editor Dan Benton (@TheGiantsWire).

PODCAST: Who stays, who goes as Giants’ offseason nears?

This week on the Giants Wire Podcast, we discuss the fate of the coordinators, the 2024 NFL draft and the debate over picking a quarterback.

This week on the Giants Wire Podcast, we discuss the curious play-calling of New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll in the final minutes of a Week 17 loss to the Los Angeles Rams, as well as the play of quarterback Tyrod Taylor.

We also look ahead to the offseason and the statuses of defensive coordinator Wink Martindale and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka. Will they be back? Should they be back?

And then, of course, there’s the 2024 NFL draft and the debate over a quarterback. Does one rookie gunslinger solve all (or any) of the Giants’ problems? Is it really their most important need, and how much salary should they dedicate to the quarterback position?

PODCAST: Giants’ Brian Daboll flip-flopped on Tommy DeVito

This week on the Giants Wire Podcast, we discuss Brian Daboll’s flip-flop on Tommy DeVito and the New York Giants future of Saquon Barkley.

This week on the Giants Wire Podcast, we discuss a Christmas Day loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. What went wrong for the New York Giants? And how many apology letters are they destined to receive from the NFL over poor officiating?

We also discuss head coach Brian Daboll’s decision to bench rookie quarterback Tommy DeVito at halftime and replace him with Tyrod Taylor.

Was it the right move for the Giants? And why do Daboll’s words on DeVito ring so hollow? We forecasted this issue weeks back and worried Daboll might flip-flop.

Giants downed by Eagles, 33-25: Here’s how X reacted

The New York Giants were defeated by the Philadelphia Eagles, 33-25, on Monday and here’s how X, formerly known as Twitter, reacted.

The New York Giants fell to the Philadelphia Eagles, 33-25, on Monday afternoon at Lincoln Financial Field, failing to deliver a Christmas Day miracle for Big Blue fans.

With the loss, the Giants fall to 5-10 on the season and are officially eliminated from playoff contention. They will have nothing but pride to play for over the final two weeks.

But who will start under center? Head coach Brian Daboll benched rookie quarterback Tommy DeVito in the second half, turning the ball back over to veteran Tyrod Taylor.

To Taylor’s credit, he led the Giants back and kept things competitive despite showing clear signs of rust, but couldn’t get it done in the end.

Here is how X, formerly known as Twitter, reacted to the Week 16 loss.

PODCAST: What should be the Giants’ top priority this offseason?

This week on the Giants Wire Podcast, we discuss offseason priorities, the offensive line and a Christmas Day matchup against the Eagles.

This week on the Giants Wire Podcast, we discuss a Week 15 loss to the New Orleans Saints and finally put to bed any New York Giants playoff talk despite not being mathematically eliminated.

Where do the Giants go from here? What are their primary needs headed into the offseason and should they select a quarterback in Round 1 of the 2024 NFL draft?

And what do we make of Tommy DeVito? Has he secured a spot as the team’s primary backup next season or should general manager Joe Schoen continue adding bodies at quarterback?

Also, how is the offensive line still this bad? More than a decade later, three general managers, multiple head coaches, multiple assistant coaches, scouting staff changes, and personnel shuffling and it’s still an Achilles heel. How is that possible?

Those topics (and more) are discussed in the latest episode of the Giants Wire Podcast, which is hosted by Ryan O’Leary (@RyanO_Leary on X) and joined by site editor Dan Benton (@TheGiantsWire).

PODCAST: Fans upset over the Giants’ recent success? We don’t get it

This week on the Giants Wire Podcast, we discuss the legend of Tommy DeVito, Giants fans who want to tank and playoffs?! Yes, playoffs.

This week on the Giants Wire Podcast, we backtrack. Perhaps Tommy DeVito does give the New York Giants their best chance to win. And it is time to look at Big Blue’s path to the playoffs.

Who saw that coming?

But there is a need to pump the brakes a bit. Tom Brady comparisons? Long-term starter talk? Big-money contracts? It’s been four games and everyone should just be enjoying the ride as opposed to inflating what’s happening on the field.

We also discuss Giants fans and their newfound beliefs that are largely contradictory. Winning is good, losing is bad and if you have faith in general manager Joe Schoen, making a run at the playoffs can only yield positive results.

PODCAST: Does Tommy DeVito give the Giants their best chance to win?

This week on the Giants Wire Podcast, we discuss Tommy DeVito starting over Tyrod Taylor, a Monday matchup with Green Bay and much more.

This week on the Giants Wire Podcast, we discuss the New York Giants’ decision to start Tommy DeVito over Tyrod Taylor. Does the rookie really give them their best chance to win?

Meanwhile, the Giants are on primetime again and will square off with the red-hot Green Bay Packers. Do they stand a chance or will the primetime curse continue?

We also put to bed any talk of the playoffs. The Giants aren’t technically out of it but too much of what they needed has not gone their way.

PODCAST: No one wants the Tommy DeVito experience to end

This week on the Giants Wire Podcast, we discuss the Brian Daboll-Wink Martindale saga, Tommy DeVito, Tiki Barber’s Hall chances, and more.

This week on the Giants Wire Podcast, we discuss an ugly Week 12 game between the New York Giants and New England Patriots, which ended on a missed field goal and gave Big Blue their fourth win of the year.

We also discuss the whole Brian Daboll-Wink Martindale saga and why Daboll’s attempt to improve optics last Sunday fell flat. There’s more to this story than some would like to believe.

And how could we not dive into the Tommy DeVito mania? He’s the toast of the town and rightfully so, but what happens now that Tyrod Taylor is returning? Daboll has a tough decision on his hands.

Also, Tiki Barber. Hall of Fame. He deserves to be in and we’ll tell you why.
