NFL Network predicts outcome of every Bears game in 2023

NFL Network’s Adam Rank is sharing his early game predictions for the Bears in 2023, and his final record prediction might surprise you.

The Chicago Bears are coming off a three-win season where they earned the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft. But after improvements across the roster and Justin Fields’ development, there are high expectations for Chicago heading into 2023.

The Bears schedule is middle of the pack in terms of strength, and there are plenty of opportunities for wins. Especially when you consider how Matt Eberflus kept arguably the NFL’s worst roster competitive throughout the 2022 season.

We shared our way-too-early game-by-game predictions for the Bears schedule back in May. Now, NFL Network’s Adam Rank, a noted Bears fan, is doing the same.

Here’s a look at how Rank sees each game shaking out for the Bears in 2023, which includes a surprising record.

Bears’ Matt Eberflus believes there’s a positive with two Thursday night games

While some might see two Thursday Night Football games as a bad thing, Bears coach Matt Eberflus believes it has its perks.

The Chicago Bears will play in four prime-time games during the 2023 season, even coming off a disappointing 3-14 season.

That includes two Thursday Night Football games against the Washington Commanders (Week 5) and Carolina Panthers (Week 10).

One of the changes this season is that an NFL club can play two Thursday night games, and the Bears are one three teams (New Orleans Saints, Pittsburgh Steelers) who are slated to play twice.

While some see it as a disadvantage, Bears head coach Matt Eberflus actually believes it’s a good thing for his team.

“I think it’s a positive,” Eberflus said, via ChicagoBears.com. “You look at two Thursday games that are Game 5 (at Commanders) and Game 10 (vs. Panthers), you really have two mini-byes and I think that’s a real positive for us. Gives us a little break after five games and 10 games. I think we have some good rest in there so we can rest and recover and get refreshed to play our best football.”

It makes even more sense when you consider the Bears have another late bye week slated for this season, Week 13. Still, that’s two games where Chicago will be playing on a short week.

Breaking down each quarter of the Bears’ 2023 schedule

We’re breaking down the Bears’ 2023 schedule by quarter, which features some challenging and favorable stretches.

The Bears have something that they haven’t had in the last few seasons: expectations. While Chicago won only three games in 2022, they added several notable pieces to their roster, and have a young quarterback who is going into Year 3 with a lot to prove.

The Bears have gone from worst to first three times since 2000. Can they make it four in 2023?

Let’s break down their 2023 schedule and see exactly what we should expect from Chicago.

Podcast: Breaking down the Bears’ 2023 schedule

We break down the Bears’ 2023 schedule, going game-by-game to share our way-too-early predictions, on the latest episode of our podcast.

The Chicago Bears unveiled their 2023 schedule, which features plenty of intriguing games and quarterback matchups.

In addition to facing their NFC North opponents twice, the Bears will face the AFC West and NFC South, which includes home games against the Carolina Panthers, Las Vegas Raiders and Atlanta Falcons, as well as away games against the Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers and New Orleans Saints.

With Chicago finishing fourth in the NFC North, they’ll also face the same-place finisher in the NFC East and NFC West. With that additional 17th game, they’ll face the AFC North same-place finisher, Cleveland Browns, on the road.

Chicago will open the season at home for the second straight year, where they’ll welcome the Green Bay Packers to town. With Aaron Rodgers now with the New York Jets, Jordan Love will make his debut in the rivalry. The Bears will also close out the regular season against the Packers — this time at Lambeau Field.

Despite a disappointing 3-14 season in 2022, the Bears will be featured four times on prime time: Week 5 at Washington Commanders, Week 8 at Los Angeles Chargers, Week 10 vs. Carolina Panthers and Week 12 at Minnesota Vikings.

On the latest episode of our Bears Wire Podcast, host Ryan O’Leary (@RyanO_Leary) and myself (@AlyssaBarbieri) break down Chicago’s 2023 schedule, where we go game-by-game and share our too-early predictions.

There are some favorable matchups on the Bears’ 2023 schedule.

The Chicago Bears recently released their 2023 schedule, which presents an intriguing slate of matchups for a team looking to rebound after a 3-14 record.

Chicago is in the middle of the pack as far as strength of schedule goes. There are some difficult games on the docket, but there are also plenty of winnable games on the schedule.

With that in mind, here are the five easiest games on the Bears’ 2023 slate — and yes, three of those teams are in the same division:

Experts predict the Chicago Bears’ 2023 record

Here’s a collection of record predictions for the Bears, where most experts are banking on under 7.5 wins.

The Chicago Bears revealed their 2023 schedule last week, which features some intriguing matchups.

Chicago will open the season at home against the Green Bay Packers — and they’ll also close it against the Packers at Lambeau Field. They’ll also play in four prime-time games, including matchups against the Los Angeles Chargers, Minnesota Vikings, Carolina Panthers and Washington Commanders.

Coming off a 3-14 record, oddsmakers have set the Bears’ win total at 7.5 games, which would be more than double their total from last year. With an improved roster and with the expectation that quarterback Justin Fields takes a big step forward, it’s not a surprise.

Here’s a collection of all of the record predictions for the Bears from various media outlets, where most experts are banking on under 7.5 wins.

Ranking the Bears’ best prime-time games in 2023

The Bears will play three prime-time games in 2023. We rank the best matchups here:

The Chicago Bears have released their 2023 schedule, and we now know when they’ll be facing their opponents. Chicago will open (and close) the season against the Green Bay Packers. But all eyes are on the four prime-time games the Bears earned this season.

Prime time hasn’t been kind to the Bears over the last four years, where they’ve compiled a 4-12 record. Last season, Chicago went 1-2 on the prime-time stage with losses to the Green Bay Packers and Washington Commanders and a win over the New England Patriots.

Despite the Bears finishing with the worst record in the NFL last season, they remain a popular choice for prime time given quarterback Justin Fields and the Chicago market. But can they turn things around with this year’s prime-time slate?

Let’s rank the Bears’ best prime-time games of 2023:

The Chicago Bears released their 2023 schedule last week, which featured some intriguing matchups for the upcoming season.

Chicago will open the season at home against the Green Bay Packers, which will mark the first time since 1991 where it won’t be Aaron Rodgers or Brett Favre as the team’s starter against the Bears. Interestingly, Chicago will also close the season against the Packers at Lambeau Field.

Despite having the league’s worst record last season, the Bears will play in four prime-time games. That includes two Thursday Night Football contests against the Washington Commanders (Week 5) and Carolina Panthers (Week 10), as well as a Sunday Night Football game at the Los Angeles Chargers (Week 8) and a Monday Night Football showdown against the Minnesota Vikings (Week 12).
