Players from the Ravens took to Twitter regarding inside linebacker Bobby Wagner signing with the Rams

The Baltimore Ravens have been making moves during free agency. They’ve  signed safety Marcus Williams, offensive tackle Morgan Moses and defensive tackle Micheal Pierce, while also bringing back fullback Patrick Ricard. However, another player that the Ravens was eyeing in free agency who could have had a big impact for them ended up signing with another team.

On Thursday, it was announced that linebacker Bobby Wagner signed a five-year, $50 million deal with the Los Angeles Rams. Los Angeles and Baltimore were the two teams left in the running for Wagner’s services according to earlier reports.

Jags land at 27th spot of USA TODAY power rankings

The Jacksonville Jaguars took a slight jump in USA TODAY’s newest power rankings that previewed each team after their biggest free agent additions.

The Jacksonville Jaguars were big spenders this offseason and ended up handing out the most guaranteed money in NFL history when it came to free agency. And while the draft has yet to arrive, many believe they should make a significant amount of progress when factoring in the hiring of Doug Pederson, too.

However, Nate Davis of USA TODAY is clearly in wait-and-see mode and is waiting until the regular season to see if it all translates on the field. That’s why the Jags only jumped one spot in his latest post-free agency power rankings, where he slotted them 27th overall.

27. Jaguars (28): Their fiscal habits in 2022 appear nearly as dubious as those of 2021. But even with QB Trevor Lawrence positioned to progress significantly under new coach Doug Pederson, you have to overpay to bring teal chip-caliber talent to Duval County.

For the Jags, 27th may be way better than expected in the eyes of some fans. It certainly marks significant progress from where they were in USA TODAY’s power rankings that concluded the regular season where the Jags were ranked 30th.

The Jags were able to land Trevor Lawrence a new lineman with All-Pro and Pro Bowl accolades in Brandon Scherff and also added some new pass-catchers into the mix with Evan Engram, Christian Kirk, and Zay Jones.

As for the rest of the AFC South, the Houston Texans were the lowest-ranked team after taking the last spot in the rankings. The Indianapolis Colts, who were previously at the No. 21 spot, skyrocketed into the top-10 and found themselves at the No. 8 spot thanks to the addition of quarterback Matt Ryan. Then lastly, the Tennessee Titans fell back a few spots, moving from the No. 5 spot to No. 11.

Sixers ‘ Tobias Harris impressed with Pistons rookie Cade Cunningham

Philadelphia 76ers forward Tobias Harris is left feeling impressed with Detroit Pistons rookie Cade Cunningham.

DETROIT–The Philadelphia 76ers entered Little Caesars Arena on Thursday evening looking to bounce back. They were coming off a close loss at home and they had an opportunity to get back after it against the Detroit Pistons who sported a 20-56 record entering the game.

The Pistons are led by a gifted rookie in Cade Cunningham who is making a serious push for Rookie of the Year after a slow start. He had 27 points to lead the Pistons to a 102-94 upset win over the Sixers on Thursday and he caught the eye of the Sixers after the game.

“I mean he’s a great player,” said Sixers veteran Tobias Harris. “Obviously, earlier in the season, he was just finding his way, but once they kind of gave him the keys to run the offense and do what he’s got to do out there. He’s blossoming in his own, but yes, his pace out there in the game of controlling, he’s a really good pick-and-roll player. He’s out there making plays for other guys getting downhill. So, he’s tough.”

Harris himself had 14 points on 6-for-9 shooting and he was 2-for-3 from deep. However, his effort was not enough to overcome Cunningham who shot 12-for-20 for the Pistons.

Ty Lue describes how Kobe, LeBron and Jordan are “all the same”

Former Lakers player and Cavaliers head coach Tyronn Lue describes the commonality Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan and LeBron James all have.

Tyronn Lue is one of the luckiest men in the world.

He spent his first three seasons as an NBA player with the Los Angeles Lakers, which meant he got to be teammates with Kobe Bryant (and Shaquille O’Neal).

In 2001, he joined the Washington Wizards and spent two years as a teammate of Michael Jordan.

Then years later, he was an assistant coach and later the head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers, which meant working with LeBron James.

Bryant, Jordan and James are likely the three greatest NBA players of the past 30 years, and according to Lue, there is one quality they all shared that has gotten them to the highest pantheon of basketball greatness.

“Just seeing Kobe first, and then I left there and went to Washington and played with Jordan when he was 40,” Lue said. “Just seeing those two, and the way they worked, and how they grinded, and then, like you said, getting LeBron, those three guys, they all the same. Want to win, whatever it takes to win, but their work ethic — you come to the gym, you come in two hours early, and they already finished the workout. They sweating. They’re done.”

Bryant was known for his legendary work ethic and how he would work maniacally to become his best self, putting in time on the court towards refined everything from broad skills to what many fans would consider minutiae.

James has also become known for working relentlessly, especially when it comes to his health and conditioning.

A few years ago, a report came out that he spends $1.5 million a year to keep his body right.

It is no wonder then that James is having one of his best statistical seasons ever this year, despite being 37 years of age and carrying an insane amount of mileage.

Joel Embiid, Sixers react to bad road loss to Pistons after collapse

Joel Embiid and the Philadelphia 76ers react to a bad road loss to the Detroit Pistons after a 4th quarter collapse.

DETROIT–The Philadelphia 76ers weren’t playing their best game on Thursday when they took on the Detroit Pistons in an effort to bounce back from a loss at home. The Pistons entered the contest with a 20-56 record and it seemed that this would be the night the Sixers would bounce back.

Even while they were sleepwalking through the first three quarters, they still maintained their lead. Even in the fourth, they held a 6-point lead, but the Pistons then kicked it into high gear and outscored Philadelphia 29-15 in the fourth to knock off the Sixers 102-94 behind 27 points from Cade Cunningham.

Joel Embiid led the Sixers with 37 points and 15 rebounds and he and the rest of the team discussed a collapse in the fourth quarter in the loss:

Ravens free agent target Bobby Wagner decides to sign elsewhere after Baltimore visit

Ravens free agent target Bobby Wagner decided to sign elsewhere after reportedly visiting with Baltimore

The Baltimore Ravens have been making many different efforts to improve their roster over the course of the 2022 offseason. They’ve signed safety Marcus Williams, offensive lineman Morgan Moses and defensive tackle Michael Pierce to long-term deals, and have also re-signed fullback Patrick Ricard.

The team wasn’t done trying to get better though, as they had been linked to All-Pro free agent inside linebacker Bobby Wagner in recent weeks. Wagner reportedly came in for a visit, and it was assumed that his final two choices came down to Baltimore and the Los Angeles Rams. On Thursday, news broke that instead of choosing the Ravens, Wagner decided to return home to Los Angeles on a five-year, $50 million deal.

Wagner would have fit in nicely on Baltimore’s defense, but instead the team will now have to pivot to other free agents on the market. Some of those names include cornerback Stephon Gilmore, safety Tyrann Mathieu and outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney.
