Three numbers of note had Florida basketball played LSU on Saturday

It’s worth taking a look at some of the points of interest — it is not like we cannot indulge in some fun facts because of COVID-19.

Well folks, the coronavirus has struck the Florida Gators men’s basketball once again, forcing the team to postpone its second meeting of the season with the LSU Tigers on Saturday much to the chagrin of both fanbases. The game will presumably be rescheduled at a future date.

In the meantime, it is worth taking a look at some of the points of interest entering the game — it is not like we cannot indulge in some fun facts because of COVID-19. For starters, LSU leads the all-time series with a 65-49 edge, though Florida has won seven of the past 10.

Since 1999, the Gators have two six-game winning streaks — a series best for that stretch — but overall since the two schools first met in 1947, the Tigers recorded the longest winning streak at 12 games from 1979 to 1983. LSU also won nine of the first 10 meetings between the teams, which helps explain the lead in the overall series record.

Florida and LSU faced each other three times during the 2018-19 season, splitting their regular-season games both with overtime finishes, while Florida prevailed, 76-73, in the Southeastern Conference Tournament to take the season series.

Here is a look at three intriguing digits provided by the official press release for the game.
