Bijan Robinson named an AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year finalist

The former Texas Longhorn had a productive rookie season despite a limited workload.

Despite a limited workload and shared backfield, former Texas running back Bijan Robinson is a finalist for the AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year award.

Robinson was second for all-purpose yards by a rookie this season with 1,464, trailing only Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua.

The Atlanta Falcons star was selected with the No. 8 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and has lived up to the hype when he gets the ball. Robinson rushed for 976 yards with 4.6 yards per carry. He also rushed for four touchdowns and caught another four.

Robinson was held back by former Falcons head coach Arthur Smith, where he shared the backfield with fellow running back Tyler Allgeier and utility man Cordarrelle Patterson. Bijan only accounted for 39% of Atlanta’s snaps and should have seen much more. With a new coaching staff in 2024, Robinson will likely be used more.

Here are the offensive finalists for the AP NFL Rookie of the Year award.

Former Texas K Justin Tucker named to his seventh career Pro Bowl

The Texas Longhorns legend now is tied for the most Pro Bowls for a kicker in NFL history.

There isn’t a better kicker in the history of the NFL than Justin Tucker of the Baltimore Ravens. The former Longhorn was named to his seventh career Pro Bowl on Wednesday, tying Morten Anderson with the most all-time for a kicker.

The NFL’s best kicker for quite some time has been a legendary Texas ex backed up by impressive statistics.

In 2023, Tucker is 86.1% when kicking field goals and 98% on extra points. He has the third-most field goals made in the AFC this year, 31, and the second-most extra points made in the AFC with 50.

The Super Bowl champion, who is only 34 years old, is ranked 15th all-time in field goals made and 38th in extra points made. With many seasons ahead, there is plenty of opportunity to climb the ranks.

Chris Trapasso has three Longhorns being selected in first round of 2024 NFL Draft

Three Texas Longhorns are projected to go in the first round.

CBS Sports’ Chris Trapasso did a 2024 NFL mock draft which included three Texas Longhorns being selected in the first round.

The three Longhorns projected in the first round are defensive lineman T’Vondre Sweat, quarterback Quinn Ewers, and wide receiver Xavier Worthy.

All three of these players have what it takes to hear their name called on night one of the NFL Draft, and I believe there could be five Longhorns go in the first round.

Some names that fly under the radar to big networks include Ja’Tavion Sanders, Adonai Mitchell, Jaylan Ford, Jerrin Thompson, and Jahdae Barron. All of them might not make it in the first round, but they all have the potential to, and that’s what matters.

Here is more on the Horns that are mocked to go in the first round.
