The Pittsburgh Steelers announced their inactives for Sunday’s game with the Cleveland Browns and one name comes as a surprise. Offensive tackle Zach Banner, who has said he’s healthy and ready to play was listed as an inactive.

Additionally, tight end Eric Ebron and linebacker Melvin Ingram joins quarterback Dwayne Haskins, cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon and linebacker Buddy Johnson as the team’s gameday inactives.

Ingram was downgraded to OUT on Saturday as he deals with a groin injury but this could all just be a smokescreen to cover up a pending trade before the deadline on Tuesday. The same could be said for tight end Eric Ebron who has shown concern about lack of playing time.

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced its inactives prior to Sunday night’s showdown with the Seattle Seahawks. No real surprises on the list except perhaps offensive tackle Zach Banner.

Pittsburgh promoted Banner to the 53-man roster this week to replace wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster but it appears his debut won’t come until after the bye week.

The other inactives include defensive lineman Carlos Davis, quarterback Dwayne Haskins, linebacker Buddy Johnson and cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon.

For the Seahawks, the one name to keep in mind is guard Cedric Ogbuehi. He’s the only starter among the Seattle inactives. Seattle will also be without starting quarterback Russell Wilson and starting running back Chris Carson. Both players went on IR this week.

Steelers vs Packers: No surprises among Pittsburgh inactives

Inactives are out for this week’s showdown between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Green Bay Packers. There are no real surprises among either list and the Steelers will be minus two starters this week.

Here is the full list of Steelers inactives:

OL Chuks Okorafor

WR Chase Claypool

OL Rashaad Coward

QB Dwayne Haskins

CB Ahkello Witherspoon

LB Buddy Johnson

DT Carlos Davis

Without Claypool in the lineup, look for wide receiver Diontae Johnson to be the focus of the passing offense. When the Steelers play three wide receivers, James Washington will replace Claypool. Claypool was ruled out on Saturday after testing his injured hamstring.

With the Steelers starting right tackle dealing with a concussion, Chuks Okorafor will be replaced in the starting lineup by Joe Haeg. Offensive tackle Zach Banner started practicing with the team this week but has not been activated from the IR.

Steelers HC Mike Tomlin notes Kalen Ballage hurt in HOF game

Steelers HC Mike Tomlin notes Kalen Ballage hurt in HOF game

As important it is for the Pittsburgh Steelers to get players on the field and evaluate them in the preseason, you never want to see anyone get hurt. The Hall of Fame game between the Steelers and Dallas Cowboys on Thursday night went off without a hitch for the most part for both teams.

However, Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin did note that backup running back Kale Ballage did suffer what Tomline characterized a “lower leg injury” in the game and he would have more information the next time he spoke to the media.

Ballage finished the game with five carries for 19 yards and rumbled in for a four-yard touchdown in the third quarter. Ballage is definitely in the mix to make the final 53-man roster to round out the running back depth chart. Ballage is a bruising back who could be a great short-yardage option for Pittsburgh.
