Steelers fans push return of Le’Veon Bell after his reaction to Russell Wilson signing

Steelers fans are clamoring for Le’Veon Bell to return to Pittsburgh after he posted reaction to Russell Wilson signing on X.

A prominent former Pittsburgh Steeler reacted to the Russell Wilson news on X this morning: “Russell to Pitt,” Le’Veon Bell posted.

Comments to Bell’s tweet mainly consisted of Steelers fans pushing for his return. “You next,” wrote one fan, and “You coming back big bro?” wrote another.

Bell accumulated 5,336 rushing yards, 2,660 receiving yards and 42 all-purpose touchdowns in the Black and Gold. He last suited up for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2021 and played for four teams after his messy and very public 2018 exit from Pittsburgh. Though he played as many years for other teams as he did in Pittsburgh, Bell never came anywhere near the production.

The Steelers former All-Pro didn’t respond to fans urging his return, but he’s made it clear in the past he’d like to return to Pittsburgh.

Last spring, Bell, 32, told the Steel Here podcast that he wants the opportunity to show he’s in the best shape of his life.

Bell returning to the Steelers would make for a great story, and that’s about it. The offense has a good thing going with Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren. Too many cooks in the kitchen rarely works out, and it can’t be something Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers even considered.

Le’Veon Bell finally apologizes to Steelers fans for leaving: ‘I shouldn’t have left’

Le’Veon Bell looks to mend fences with the fanbase he let down.

During the entirety of the drama between the Pittsburgh Steelers and former running back Le’Veon Bell, the vast majority of fans sided with Bell and were vocal about Bell returning to the team. They blamed the front office for letting Bell leave and unfortunately for Bell, a very promising NFL career nosedived once he did leave.

But now, five seasons later, Bell has finally come around and took to Snapchat to apologize to Steelers fans for leaving and admit he should have never done it.

“I never apologized to the fans for really sitting out or leaving the Steelers. I never apologized. So, I’m gonna say I apologize for leaving the best fans there is in this damn world. I shouldn’t have left. I apologize.”

Bell played the 2017 season on the franchise tag but when the two sides failed to come to an agreement on a contract, sat out the entire 2018 season rather than play on the tag again. Even after that the Pittsburgh front office still made a very fair offer to Bell that he refused. Bell chose to bet on himself and he lost big.

Nevertheless, it is great to see Bell coming around and working his way back into the good graces of Steeler Nation. You can’t change the past and what Bell did cost himself and the Steelers but there’s always time to mend fences and it looks like that’s what Bell is doing.

Ex-Steelers RB Le’Veon Bell signed to Ravens practice squad

Le’Veon Bell has been tied to the Baltimore Ravens since J.K. Dobbins went down to a season-ending ACL tear in the final week of the preseason.

Le’Veon Bell has been tied to the Baltimore Ravens since J.K. Dobbins went down to a season-ending ACL tear in the final week of the preseason.

On Tuesday, following the loss of Justice Hill to the same injury during practice, the Ravens pulled the trigger.

The Ravens are signing the former Pittsburgh Steelers running back to the practice squad (per ESPN’s Adam Schefter). Once Bell goes through the league’s COVID protocols, it’s likely he’ll be added to the 53-man roster.

The pool of rosterable running backs is thin, so it’s no surprise Baltimore made the move. Bell joins offensive tackle Alejandro Villanueva who signed with the Ravens as a free agent.

Three years and one offensive coordinator removed from Pittsburgh, Bell isn’t much of a threat to reveal anything helpful to the Steelers division rival.

AFC North rival rumored to be considering former Steelers RB Le’Veon Bell

This isn’t the first time Le’Veon Bell has been linked to AFC North rivals.

News came out Sunday that Pittsburgh Steelers’ rival Baltimore Ravens took a big blow to their running back position. J.K. Dobbins suffered a season-ending ACL tear in the Ravens preseason game against the Washington Football Team.

It’s been rumored that former Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell is among the candidates to replace Dobbins. This isn’t the first time he’s been linked to the Ravens, though.

Bell has never been the same running back since clawing his way out of Pittsburgh. In three seasons with two teams (Jets and Chiefs), Bell contributed just 1,716 yards from scrimmage.

Ravens’ Gus Edwards is likely to start with Justice Hill behind him — they averaged five yards per carry in 2020. But if Baltimore is looking for a third guy to throw into the mix, why not a former Pittsburgh Steelers back?
