Jags pass-rusher K’Lavon Chaisson dealing with a minor hamstring injury

K’Lavon Chaisson worked on the side Wednesday for the Jags as it was revealed he’s dealing with a minor hamstring issue.

During Wednesday’s practice session, Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker and defensive end K’Lavon Chaisson was only a partial participant, working off to the side with a minor hamstring issue. This comes as the team is temporarily short on numbers on the defensive line with Josh Mauro, Carl Davis, and Caraun Reid going through COVID-19 testing protocols because they just signed.

Chaisson, 21, was one of the Jags’ first-round picks in April and is expected to be a huge part of the team’s defense. He’s currently in a battle with Leon Jacobs and Cassius Marsh for the starting strong-side linebacker job and will also see reps as a third-down pass-rusher for the team. However, with him having to temporarily miss time, the two veteran players will get to take advantage of more snaps.

As many are aware, the uncertainty behind Yannick Ngakoue’s situation was the reason the Jags decided to draft the talented Chaisson, who was coming off an impressive run with the national champion Louisiana State Tigers. It’s still unclear if Ngakoue will return anytime soon, and if he sits in 2020, it could be Chaisson’s gain. With that being the case, Chaisson’s status will be worth watching from this point on.
