Washington brings in WR Dontrelle Inman for free agent visit

Washington needs some depth at the wide receiver position, and they’ve brought it, Dontrelle Inman, for a workout.

The Washington Football Team hosted free agent WR Dontrelle Inman recently, potentially looking to sign him ahead of the 2020 season, according to ESPN’s Field Yates.

Washington is in desperate need of some added talent and depth at the WR position, especially after Kelvin Harmon was ruled out for the upcoming season with an ACL tear. As it stands now, the position is headed up by Terry McLaurin, who stands as the only ‘sure-thing’ in that group, though there are some solid expectations for both Steven Sims Jr. and Antonio Gandy-Golden.

Inman has had a solid career in the NFL, spending most of his time with the Los Angeles Chargers. He’s also played for the Chicago Bears and Indianapolis Colts. In his career, Inman has 11 touchdowns.

Forbes values Washington Football Team at $3.4 billion; 14th highest in sports

Though Washington is usually near the bottom of the standings, they still rank near the top of the NFL for franchise value.

Calls for Dan Snyder to sell the Washington Football Team have been prevalent over the past decade, but the recent developments, including a sexual/verbal abuse case that’s been brought up within the organization, has caused those calls to become rampant among fans.

While it seems crazy to think that Snyder — a lifelong Washington fan —would actually sell the team anytime soon, what type of money would he make by giving up control? Forbes recently broke down the most valuable franchises in all sports, and it placed a nice price tag on the Washington Football Team.

According to Forbes, Washington ranks as the 14th most valuable sports team in the world, valued at $3.4 billion. They are tied with the Los Angeles Dodgers for that spot, and they rank as the seventh most valuable team in the NFL.

Snyder bought the Washington Football Team back in 1999 for $750 million, so by our math, he would stand to make $2.65 billion in a potential sale. While that number may be big enough to force anyone into consideration, don’t get your hopes up that Washington will have new ownership in the near future. Snyder seems to want to stick around for a long time to come, and I don’t see much changing that.

LOOK: These Dwayne Haskins picture shows massive physical transformation this offseason

A lot has been made of Dwayne Haskins’ slim down this summer, but these side-by-side photos show all the work he’s put in.

A lot has been made this offseason of the work that Washington quarterback Dwayne Haskins has put into his preparation and fitness going into the 2020 season. However, it’s hard to realize how far he has come until you really see a side-by-side before and after picture.

That’s just what we got this weekend, as Haskins quote tweeted the images from last years training camp next to an image from earlier this week. The amount of definition shown, and the clear loss of baby fat is remarkable. To put it simply, Haskins looks like an NFL quarterback now, with a physique similar to that of Deshaun Watson rather than Byron Leftwich.

Whether or not it will result in more wins is yet to be determined, but we can assume that all the work he’s put in on his body has been coupled with mental reps and hours spent in the playbook as he looks to take the field in good fashion this coming season.

Top Quotes: DB coach Chris Harris expects a tough secondary that relies on trust

The new DB coach in Washington emphasized physicality and trust in the secondary if they are to succeed this season.

Because of the novel coronavirus and the abnormal NFL offseason that it has brought with us, things have been strange with the Washington Football Team, as much of the coaching staff is getting set for their first year with a new team. Because of this, many media members and fans have yet to hear from some of the coaches just yet. However, the start of training camp has brought with it the opportunity to talk to some of the newest members in Washington, one of whom is Chris Harris, the new defensive backs coach.

On Saturday afternoon, he sat down on a video call with media members in Washington to discuss the upcoming season. Here are some of his top quotes.

Randy Jordan says Adrian Peterson was born to be a football player

With perfect size and an undeniable work-ethic, Peterson has proved that there’s no job he’s better suited for than NFL running back.

Sometimes you see a person moving through life and you can’t help but think that they’re doing exactly what they were meant to do.

For Washington’s running backs coach Randy Jordan, he looks at Adrian Peterson and knows that he was meant to play football. At 6-foot-1, 217 pounds, and approximately zero percent body fat, it’s hard to look at AP and think that he’d be better suited doing anything different than playing as a running back in the NFL. Even at age 35 — which is ancient for an RB — it’s hard to argue that he should be anywhere else, especially as he continues to mow people over without showing a hint of regression or age.

As we enter yet another year, questions will still come up about AP’s health, and whether or not Father Time will be coming to collect rent this year. We’ll see what Peterson has to say this year. If it’s anything like years past, retirement will be sent packing.

Louis Riddick predicts Dwayne Haskins to have ‘monstrous’ 2020 season

When forecasting the 2020 season, ESPN’s Louis Riddick predicted that Haskins will have a big year, thanks to his hard work this offseason.

If you’re a fan of ESPN’s NFL analyst Louis Riddick, you got some good news this past week when it was announced that he would be a part of the Monday Night Football booth in the 2020 season. If you’re a fan of both Riddick and the Washington Football Team, you’re got some really good news when it was reported that the NFL analyst has some high expectations for QB Dwayne Haskins this coming season.

When talking on NFL Live earlier this week, Riddick claimed that the work Haskins has but into his craft this offseason will pay huge dividends going forward.

“I expect Dwayne Haskins to have an absolutely fantastic, monstrous year, provided everything else around him stays intact because he’s earned it, he’s worked for it this offseason,” he said.

It’s understandable for fans in Washington to hope for this, as they’ve seen Haskins putting in work this offseason and slimming down while training with a long list of talented receivers. Now with a new offense and coaching staff around him, with some solid weapons, it’s time to see what he can do when the games start to count.

“I think Dwayne has taken the perfect approach this offseason,” Riddick said. “If you look at his social media, he basically chronicled his entire offseason as far as how hard he’s been working, how much weight he has shed. He looks absolutely fantastic.”

It’s one thing to look fantastic on social media, but it’s a completely different game once you get on that field for real. I’m sure a year of experience will help Haskins settle in during 2020, and hopefully Riddick’s predictions come true.

Lack of preseason games could be detrimental to Bryce Love in Washington

Bryce Love will do well to make the roster in Washington this season, but the lack of preseason games will make that job a lot harder.

One of the biggest victories that was handed to the Washington Football Team this offseason came recently, when it was announced that second-year running back Bryce Love was cleared to play for the 2020 season. As a highly-anticipated fourth-round draft pick in 2019, Love was forced to sit on the bench during his entire rookie season while rehabbing from a knee injury suffered in college.

While the green light to play is a big step in the process to getting his NFL career off the ground, there is still a long ways to go for Love to have an impact in Washington. With such a crowded backfield that consists of a future Hall-of-Famer and potential playmakers wherever you look, it will be a tall task for Love to even make the 53-man roster this season, though many believe he can. Unfortunately, the lack of preseason games this year will definitely make it harder to do so.

As with many young players who are riding close to the cut line, missing out on four preseason games could mean the difference between getting a shot during the regular season, or being relegated to the practice squad. We just have to hope that Love shows enough ability in training camp and practice to earn his spot on the team. From there, his college highlights show just what is possible when you get the ball in his hands.

Top Quotes: RB coach Randy Jordan thrilled with talent and depth in backfield

Coach Jordan is one of the few to hold over in Washington under Ron Rivera, and his experience with this group of players could be valuable.

While many of the position coaches who will have a say on what the Washington Football Team looks like in 2020 are new to most fans, running backs coach Randy Jordan is one of the few holdovers from the previous staff. When Ron Rivera took over as the head coach, he chose to keep Jordan around, hoping that his familiarity with the current roster in Washington would help push that position to new heights.

Judging by the talent that currently stands in the Washington backfield, he won’t have to push very hard, as long as everyone is able to stay healthy.

On Friday afternoon, Jordan sat down with media members in Washington to discuss this abnormal offseason, as well as what to expect going forward. Here are some of his top quotes.

Expect Washington’s offense to have ‘attack mentality’ in 2020

With a new OC and QB coach in Washington, we can expect to see a lot more innovation and aggressiveness from the Washington offense.

Remember midway through the 2019 season when Bill Callahan was entrenched in a power-struggle with Kevin O’Connell and they were constantly battling over whether to deploy a run-heavy offense or something that better suited the style of football played this century?

It doesn’t seem like we will have to deal with that for much longer. Both Callahan and O’Connell are gone, and two huge offensive voices that have taken their places are Scott Turner and Ken Zampese. The latter spoke to the media after training camp on Thursday and stated that he wants the offense to attack in 2020, while staying smart and being careful with the ball.

This is good news for Dwayne Haskins, and Terry McLaurin, and Derrius Guice, and fantasy football owners who are brave enough to deploy Washington players in their weekly lineups. We believe that there is the talent necessary to be good in D.C., now we just need to see them given the chance.

Washington claims CB Ryan Lewis; can he compete for playing time?

While Washington looks to fill out their cornerback rotation during training camp, Ryan Lewis was claimed to try to fill a role.

The Washington Football team made a roster move on Thursday afternoon by claiming cornerback Ryan Lewis off of the waivers and adding him to the training camp roster.

Lewis, who was released by the Miami Dolphins on Wednesday, will immediately come to Washington and look to compete for playing time in a secondary that is seemingly wide open outside of the top two or three spots.

Lewis has played only two seasons in the NFL, the first of which was with the Buffalo Bills, where he started three games, had three passes defended and forced two fumbles. In 2019, Lewis bounced around, playing for Indianapolis Colts, Philadelphia Eagles, and Dolphins. He had one interception in Miami.

So will Lewis have a chance to earn some real playing time in Washington? I don’t see why not. Outside of the trio of Kendall Fuller, Ronald Darby, and Fabian Moreau, there isn’t a strong candidate to take over as one of the starting options. Second-year CB Jimmy Moreland will surely be in the rotation, and either Danny Johnson or Aaron Colvin might definitely step up into a bigger role going forward. However, for Lewis, this can be the perfect place for him to carve out his own role in a young but hopeful defense.
