Florida star forward Keyontae Johnson remains in critical but stable condition at UF Health in Gainesville at last update following a collapse coming out of a media timeout in the Gators’ game against FSU on Saturday.

Johnson was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, and Florida eventually lost the game by 12.

The situation took place during a media timeout on the broadcast, but Gainesville Sun reporter Graham Hall, who was at the game, said it was “one of the worst things” he’d ever seen in a video posted by USA Today.

“The story here and the long-term concern is the health of Keyontae Johnson, who collapsed less than four minutes into that game at midcourt as Florida was coming out of a timeout,” he said. “A scary scene, one of the worst things that I’ve ever seen in sports, on television, in any video.”

“I still can’t get over it here. It’s pretty jarring to think about.”

Florida’s players became emotional on the court following the scary scene, including guard Noah Locke, who knew Johnson long before they were UF teammates.

“Noah Locke was one of the Gators who was out there on the court and was visibly upset when Keyontae Johnson went down,” Hall said. “They go back to being middle school teammates.

Johnson was initially placed in a medically induced coma, though doctors tried to bring him out of that and he was responding to simple commands, according to an update from UF. Yesterday, Johnson was transferred to Shands.
