Steelers WR George Pickens isn’t talking about last week’s sideline tantrum

George Pickens isn’t going to let the media take anything he says and run with it.

On Wednesday, Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver George Pickens chose to address his sideline behavior from last week by letting everyone know he would not be addressing it.

Before any reporters could even ask him about his sideline tantrum last week versus the Atlanta Falcons he made it clear he wasn’t making any statements about it. He then simply pulled his gaiter back up over his mouth and shook his head “no” to two very innocuous questions about if the coaches had spoken to him about it or if he heard what head coach Mike Tomlin said about it on Tuesday.

Pickens might not have said much on Wednesday but he honestly said plenty. Tomlin noted he wants guys who want the football so he was ok with what Pickens did. But for quarterback Kenny Pickett, this could turn into a much bigger issue if Pickens doesn’t feel like he is targeting him enough in the games.

Let us know in the comments what you thought of how Pickens handled the press on Wednesday.

Steelers HC Mike Tomlin lets fan know he’s all business, even at halftime

Mike Tomlin is locked in at all times during games. Just ask this fan.

During the week, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin publicly is one of the most even-keeled guys you will ever see. His communication with the press is typically quite monotone bordering on robotic.

But in-game, it is very different as this fan discovered on Sunday. A fan was videotaping during halftime of Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons and wanted to wish Tomlin well as he headed into what looked like the locker area at Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

After telling Tomlin to go for the win, Tomlin fired back. What that fans got was a single sentence of raw emotion and passion from a man fighting to keep his football team on track. The video below is NSFW.

Let us know in the comments how you feel about this exchange. Was Tomlin in the wrong for his response or should the fan not have been trying to engage with him during halftime?

Steelers HC Mike Tomlin hopes winning streak is a “launching pad” for season

The Steelers are on their first winning streak of the year.

You play who is on your schedule and you win the games you are supposed to win. This has been the attitude of the Pittsburgh Steelers since coming back from the bye week and after Sunday’s win over the Atlanta Falcons, the team is 3-1 since the bye and head coach Mike Tomlin likes what he sees.

After the game, Tomlin discussed what this win could mean for the team as the season winds down.

“Two road victories in a row,” Tomlin said. “Was much needed trying to find that rhythm and do what good teams do, which is stack winning performance on top of winning performance. Hopefully it’s a launching pad for us as we move forward.”

Pittsburgh currently sits at 5-7 and is on the outside looking in as far as the AFC playoff picture. But if we have seen anything from this team it is the ability to string some wins together late in the season. Will this two-game win streak be the momentum boost this team needs to win out? This week will be a great test with the Baltimore Ravens coming to town.

Steelers S Minkah Fitzpatrick has some fun with his fantasy owners

Minkah Fitzpatrick passed on trying to score a late touchdown.

At the end of Sunday’s 19-16 win over the Atlanta Falcons, the Pittsburgh Steelers safety had a pick-six to seal the win. Except he didn’t. Fitzpatrick did pick off Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan with just seconds left to play and had a clean run to the end zone.

But instead of fighting his way to a score and potentially having the football stripped away, Fitzpatrick casually jogged out of bounds and let the offense close things out with the victory formation.

After the game, Fitzpatrick took to Twitter to have a little fun at all the fantasy football managers who missed out on that touchdown. I would like to think that any Steelers fan who happens to have the Steelers defense would be much happier with the team win.

Steelers outlast Falcons to earn 2nd straight road win

The Steelers improve to 5-7 on the season.

It wasn’t pretty and it wasn’t dominating but for the second week in a row, the Pittsburgh Steelers gutted out a win on the road. Thanks to another strong effort in the run game and stout defense the Steelers have improved to 5-7 on the season after beating the Atlanta Falcons 19-16.

Running back Najee Harris dealt with an abdominal injury during the week but showed no ill effects on the way to 86 yards rushing on 17 carries. Harris continues to show growth in his vision and anticipation and is really taking advantage of the improved run blocking by the Steelers offensive line.

Rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett had another efficient outing. Pickett finished with 197 passing yards and one passing touchdown to rookie tight end Connor Heyward. More importantly, Pickett didn’t turn the football over and has now 128 straight passes without an interception. The best ever streak by a Steelers rookie.

The Pittsburgh defense did its job containing quarterback Marcus Mariota and the Falcons run game and despite some lapses in coverage, the secondary came up with an interception to seal the victory.

Pittsburgh now returns how for its toughest test of the second half of the season so far with the Baltimore Ravens coming to town.

The Pittsburgh Steelers 2022 rookie class continues to impress this season. You already know about guys like Kenny Pickett, George Pickens and Jaylen Warren on offense. Now add tight end Connor Heyward to the list. Heyward connected with Heyward in the first quarter of Sunday’s game with the Atlanta Falcons for a 17-yard touchdown which is the first of Heyward’s career.

Heyward is the younger brother of fellow Steelers Cam and his father Craig “Iron Head” Heyward spent three of his 11 seasons in the NFL in Atlanta.

The touchdown pass was the fourth of the season for Pickett. The catch was Heyward’s eighth of the season.

Watch Steelers RB Najee Harris with the brutal stiff arm

Najee Harris plants Falcons safety Richie Grant.

There are few moves in football that display the level of simultaneous disrespect and dominance that a stiff arm does. Pittsburgh Steelers running back Najee Harris had a contender for the stiff arm of the year in Sunday’s game versus the Atlanta Falcons.

Harris palmed the helmet of Atlanta safety Richie Grant and just drove him into the ground. Grant isn’t a small guy at 6-foot-0 and 200 pounds but Harris made him look like a kid on a playground on the wrong end of it.

Steelers vs Falcons: 3 keys to victory for Pittsburgh

The Steelers must run the football and stop the run to beat Atlanta.

There might be no saving the Pittsburgh Steelers season as far as the playoffs go but there is still plenty to play for just taking it one game at a time. This week it’s the Atlanta Falcons and this game lines up well for a Steelers win. Here are the Steelers keys to victory.

Steelers add LB Malik Reed to injury report

Pittsburgh adds another player to the injury report.

[mm-video type=playlist id=01eqbydbzmnr1bhxef player_id=none image=https://steelerswire.usatoday.com/wp-content/plugins/mm-video/images/playlist-icon.png]

On Saturday the Pittsburgh Steelers added outside linebacker Malik Reed to the injury report ahead of Sunday’s game with the Atlanta Falcons. Reed is listed as questionable with a back injury.

This is in addition to fellow outside linebacker T.J. Watt who is also listed as questionable with injured ribs. If Reed and Watt cannot go, the Steelers would be terribly thin opposite Alex Highsmith.

The Steelers brought in Reed to help bolster the depth at the position and be a starter if needed but his season has been nothing but a letdown. Reed has played in every game this season and has two starts but has only been able to muster one sack.

In addition, on the injury report, cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon continues his season to forget with a hamstring injury and backup running back Jaylen Warren is listed as questionable with a hamstring injury.
