After the Pittsburgh Steelers thrilling 23-20 overtime win over the Cincinnati Bengals, head coach Mike Tomlin addressed the number of injuries the team suffered in game. In typical fashion, Tomlin offered nothing in terms of details and simply indicated all four guys would be evaluated.

Here are the four major injuries mentioned by Tomlin.

LB Robert Spillane (eye)

LB T.J. Watt (upper body)

RB Najee Harris (foot)

CB Levi Wallace (ankle)

The injuries to Watt and Harris felt significant and those Tuesday updates will be huge in terms of their availability. Harris dealt with a Licfranc injury in the preseason so if this is related to that, could force him out of the lineup for a period of time. As for Watt, if the lip readers on social media are correct, Watt believes he tore his pec, which would be devestating for his season.

AFC North slugfest ends huge in overtime win for Pittsburgh

The Steelers defense kept Pittsburgh in the game and Chris Boswell won it.

Week One is not supposed to be this emotion. But when the Pittsburgh Steelers and Cincinnati Bengals square off there are always fireworks. This time around both teams traded shots for four quarters and all the way through overtime only to see the game end on a clutch overtime field goal by kicker Chris Boswell to pull off the 23-20 upset.

The Steelers defense harassed Cincinnati quarterback all game long. Four interceptions, six sacks and a forced fumble with outside linebacker Alex Highsmith having three of those sacks. The Bengals were able to move the football but drive after drive Pittsburgh found a way to stall drives out until the final play when Burrow connected with wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase as time expired.

Pittsburgh’s offense was non-existent all game long. new starting quarterback Mitch Trubisky struggled to see the field, showed poor accuracy and with no running game for balance had to rely on defensive scores and multiple field goals to keep pace.

In overtime both teams possessed the ball multiple times with each group trading punches and missed field goals. The Steelers defense came up big one last time with a huge sack by cornerback Arthur Maulet forcing a punt. The Steelers got back into field goal range and Boswell didn’t miss when given a second chance.

Steelers RB Najee Harris leaves game with foot injury

Najee Harris left the game late with what appeared to be a foot injury.

The injuries are really stacking up for the Pittsburgh Steelers against the Cincinnati Bengals. Late in the game, two key Steelers starters were forced out with injuries. On the team’s final drive in regulation is was linebacker T.J. Watt but before that, starting running back Najee Harris limped off and back to the locker room.

Harris got rolled up on and bent backwards on a rush and you could see in the replay his foot took the worst of it. Harris missed much of the preseason with what was later discovered to be a Lisfranc injury to the same foot so there is a possibility this is all part of that.

With Harris out, undrafted rookie Jaylen Warren is the team’s No. 1 running back.

Steelers LB T.J. Watt suffers injury late in game

Watt left the game on the final drive in regulation with an injury.

Pittsburgh steelers linebacker T.J. Watt had himself an amazing game on Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals. But for Watt, regulation ended about as badly as it could. Watt went in on Bengals quarterback on the final drive in regulation and in an attempt to sack Burrow suffered what look like a significant injury.

I’m not here to speculate and there’s been no official word from the team but it looked like a pectoral injury and Watt’s body language as he walked to the sidelines and then the locker room said it is bad.

We will await official word from the team on the extent of Watt’s injury as the game heads to overtime.

It isn’t even second quarter and the Pittsburgh Steelers defensive front has imposed its will on the Cincinnati Bengals. Check out the Steelers get their second interception of Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow on a strip by linebacker Alex Highsmith followed with the fumble recover by defensive tackle Cam Heyward.

On Burrow’s first pass of the game, Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick picked off Burrown and took it to the house for a touchdown. Through one quarter the Steelers have already sacked Burrow three times and the Steelers lead Cincinnati 10-3.

When the NFL Network did their Top 100 players, they didn’t see fit to include Pittsburgh Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. It didn’t take Fitzpatrick long to show the league why that was a mistake.

Fitzpatrick intercepted the first pass attempt of the season by Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and took it 32 yards for the touchdown and gave the Steelers an early 7-0 lead.

The pick gives Fitzpatrick a remarkable 12 interceptions since joining the Steelers during the 2019 season.
