This has been the busiest offseason of record for the Pittsburgh Steelers since Mike Tomlin became the head coach so the sheer number of offseason moves is way up. It’s been something of a shock to see just how many players have been added to the roster, how many left and even the massive overhaul in the front office.

But what was the best move the Steelers made this offseason? According to Pro Football Focus, the best move Pittsburgh made was to draft wide receiver George Pickens in the 2022 NFL draft. Here’s what they had to say about the addition of the talented Georgia receiver.

Adding Georgia wide receiver George Pickens and Memphis wide receiver Calvin Austin III to a position room that also includes Chase Claypool gives them leverage and flexibility moving forward. Throw in tight end Pat Freiermuth and the Steelers still potentially have a dynamic group of young pass-catchers even without their top option of the past several years.

There are multiple guys you could make a case for but it all depends on what you want from a player. Personally, I’m banking on new interior offensive lineman James Daniels being the best move the Steelers make this offseason for the immediate impact his presence will make in the run game.

Let us know in the comments what you think the Steelers best offseason move has been.

Steelers to place original-round tender on QB Dwayne Haskins

Pittsburgh plans to keep Dwayne Haskins for the upcoming season.

According to ESPN NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler, the Pittsburgh Steelers are placing a restricted free agent tender on quarterback Dwayne Haskins. Fowler also indicated the tender would be an original-round tender which would pay him something in the area of $2.5 million in 2022.

Haskins was a first-round pick of the Washington Football Team in 2019, so a first-round pick would be the compensation Pittsburgh would receive if a team chose to match the tender.

In other words, there is zero chance Haskins plays for any team other than the Steelers next season. This also means Haskins, along with Mason Rudolph will be the primary players battling it out for the starting quarterback spot in 2022. Haskins was active for one game this season when Ben Roethlisberger was on the COVID-19 list.

Although there has been no formal announcement, 2021 is expected to be Roethlisberger’s final season. Due to the salary cap, we may not hear anything official on Big Ben’s move until June but the Steelers will move forward in preparing for a rebuild without him.
