Gators basketball moves up in NET rankings with another Quad 1 win

UF’s basketball program jumped a tad in the latest NCAA Net rankings following their win over Kentucky on Saturday as March approaches.

With the calendar flipping to March, every game becomes that much more important for Mike White and the Florida Gators basketball team. Going into this past weekend, the Gators were sitting as a 7-seed in Joe Lunardi’s Bracketology, just a few weeks after being on the bubble.

The Gators have a few games left to try and improve their stock and barring a collapse, they should be in the field come tournament time. And Saturday’s win over Kentucky certainly helped their case.

Florida earned another Quad 1 win by beating Kentucky on the road Saturday afternoon, moving to 5-3 on the year in Quad 1 games. That’s a big metric in terms of looking at a team’s resume for the tournament. While it was a Quad 1 win, UF moved up in the latest NET rankings but not by much.

The Gators jumped just one spot from No. 27 to No. 26 with the win as they continue to build momentum. Sure, it’s a little disappointing to move up just one spot with Saturday’s win but Florida is in a good spot heading into the final week of SEC play.

Florida returns to action this week as they host No. 24 Missouri on Wednesday night in the O’Connell Center, with tipoff scheduled for 6:30 p.m. EST.
