Podcast: Why we should feel optimistic about the Saints entering the 2022 offseason

Well, our week of mourning is over. The New Orleans Saints’ 2021 season is in the books and the playoffs are in full swing without them, so it’s time for one more look back before we turn to 2022. And we’re feeling optimistic about their future — this was a great team that had a lot of bad things happen to it. If just a few of those breaks go their way next year, watch out.

That’s what you’ll find in the latest episode of the Saints Wire Podcast, brought to you by Saints Wire managing editor John Sigler (@john_siglerr) and host Ryan O’Leary (@RyanOLearySMG). BrownsWire Podcast 2.0: What to expect and the 3 QB tiers in the NFL

BrownsWire Podcast 2.0 is up. In the first episode, we explain what to expect and then review the 3 QB tiers in the NFL, where Mayfield sits and how that all could impact the front office:

The Browns Wire Podcast is back!

Josh Keatley and Donovan James did a great job with the podcast, taking over from previous host Mac Robinson. For both Josh and Donovan, time limitations precluded continuing the pod, understandably.

As the managing editor of the site, I will attempt to live up to their strong presentations while taking over the podcast, calling it the 2.0 version of the pod.

In the first episode, I share what to expect from the podcast on a week-to-week basis including length and content before going into the subject of the show. For the primary subject, I took a look at the three tiers of quarterbacking in the NFL, where Baker Mayfield has played and how it could impact the decision-making for the Cleveland Browns.

Twilight 9 podcast: Cameron Smith wins birdie barrage in Maui, Sony Open and betting preview

Can Cameron Smith complete the Hawaiian sweep?

What a week to open up the 2022 calendar year.

Cameron Smith went toe-to-toe with World No. 1 Jon Rahm, traded blows, and came out on top. It was an unbelievable performance and maybe one that catapults Smith toward a few more wins this season.

Justin Thomas set the course record on Saturday after dismantling the Plantation Course with a 61 — then Rahm did it, too, just 90 minutes later.

The USGA announced incredible changes coming for the U.S. Women’s Open, including a purse increase from $5.5 million to $10 million. Overdue and wonderful news for the LPGA.

This week is the Sony Open, or otherwise known as the Charles Howell III invitational. The boys preview the event including a course overview, key stats, Data Golf information, and players to watch for the week.

Harry Higgs on ‘The Shorties Classic’: ‘If you’re gonna watch it with your kids, you might have to mute it a couple times’

With the presenting sponsor being Tito’s, you could probably guess how this event went.

The Shorties Classic premieres on Golf Channel on Wednesday at 7 p.m. ET.

What exactly is it? Well, it’s going to be a lot of fun.

Harry Higgs, alongside fellow PGA Tour pros Harold Varner III, Pat Perez, and Joel Dahmen played a match at the Butler Pitch and Putt down in Austin, Texas.

The presenting sponsor of the event is Tito’s vodka, so you can probably guess what the atmosphere was like.

“If you’re gonna watch it with your kids, you might have to mute it a couple times,” Higgs said jokingly in the interview.

Higgs joined the Twilight 9 podcast to discuss not only the Shorties Classic, but his top-four finish at the PGA Championship that earned him a spot in the Masters. Last month Higgs, his father, and his brother took a trip to Augusta National to get a round in, as well as spend a nice chunk of change in the pro shop.

And on top of everything else, Higgs shared his best Phil Mickelson story, which may have included the phrase “a nasty one.”

Twilight 9 podcast: PGA Tour golf is back and it’s time to preview the Sentry Tournament of Champions

Xander Schauffele is due, but is this the beginning of a career year for Jordan Spieth?

The best players in the world are back to playing golf this week. Life is good.

The PGA Tour is out in Hawaii for the annual gathering of the past year’s champions and this time around 38 of the 39 winners from last season have made the trip to Kapalua. Rory McIlroy (Wells Fargo Championship) is the only one who stayed at home.

Andy and I have tons to discuss this week on the show, starting with Phil Mickelson reportedly winning the $40 million Player Impact Program.

Then, it’s time to jump into the Sentry Tournament of Champions. We go over the key stats for the week, as well as Data Golf information, betting odds, and more.

Finally, we outline our favorite bets for the week. A name to keep an eye on — Xander Schauffele. His last win came at this event three years ago and he loves it here.
