USA TODAY Ad Meter Rewind: Here’s how an AI would rewrite the top-rated Super Bowl spots of all time

Adweek uses and AI Super Bowl Bot to recreate USA TODAY Ad Meter’s top-rated Super Bowl spots of all time

Could a Bot write a top Super Bowl spot better?

Thanks to Adweek and some interesting state-of-the-art AI, we get a glimpse at the answer in 2021.

Using a Super Bowl Bot—an AI that taps sophisticated language generation tech to create Super Bowl ad concepts—they were able to see how the technology would approach the 10 highest-rated USA TODAY Ad Meter commercials of all time.

What were the results? As Adweek noted: ...hardly as memorable or unique as the highly polished ads they are mimicking, the bot is at least able to string together coherent, often-zany ideas that might pass for a real ad in the Big Game—if not a historically popular one.

In the end, though, it’s really about popular opinion—so let’s take a look at these top-spot retakes…and you can be the judge.
