Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger dismisses lack of run game, focuses on wins

According to Ben Roethlisberger, the team’s inability to run the football isn’t an issue as long as the team is winning.

Things are going great for the Pittsburgh Steelers. In a talented AFC, the Steelers have set themselves apart and are currently 9-0. The team is far from perfect but this team finds ways to win games whether it is through the offense or the defense.

One area in recent weeks that seems to be shifting is the focus of the offense. At the beginning of the season, the Pittsburgh offense was balanced with the run game topping 100 yards per game and the pass offense working in tandem with it.

But over the course of the past three weeks, Pittsburgh has failed to get 50 yards rushing per game and the passing offense has carried the day. But according to quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, this isn’t an issue as long as the team is winning.

We shouldn’t get so caught up in yards per carry or total yards rushing or things like that because it really comes down to winning football games first, which we did, and everything kind of falls into place from there.

This sounds great. But at this point, I’m not sure the Steelers can establish and maintain a productive run game if forced to. The Cincinnati Bengals chose to stack the box on Sunday and dared Roethlisberger to throw it. But this won’t always be the case.

Should the Steelers just embrace they are a pass-heavy team and hope it works in this modern NFL?

Steelers CB Cameron Sutton says team plan to keep coming out on the field as a group

The Steelers have decided they will keep coming out of the tunnel this season as a sign of unity.

[jwplayer JZtzT24f-ThvAeFxT]

According to Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Cameron Sutton, the team has decided they will continue to run out as a team instead of doing individual introductions.

A gesture like this might not seem like much on the outside looking in but this is just another example of the selfless nature of this team and their singular focus. We’ve seen this team deal with so much adversity going back to last season but this group shows so much of a unified message this season putting aside personal accomplishments for the overall success of the team.

But I want to ask Steeler Nation. Are you OK with the team coming out together or would you rather see the individual starter announcements? Let us know in the comments.

The Pittsburgh Steelers gave Cincinnati Bengals rookie quarterback Joe Burrow a proper welcome to the NFL. Burrow has a bright future ahead of him but he had a rude awakening on Sunday as the Steelers defense beat him up for four quarters.

But even Burrow has to appreciate the humor in Bud Dupree’s Instagram post. Dupree came across this image of him putting Burrown in a big bear hug from the game and gave it the perfect caption.

Pittsburgh extended their record to 9-0 with their 36-10 win over the Bengals on Sunday.

Steelers WR Chase Claypool says Ben Roethlisberger improvised on his 2 TDs

Steelers wide receiver Chase Claypool is having a season thanks to the trust Ben Roethlisberger has in him.

The chemistry between Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and rookie wide receiver Chase Claypool continues to develop. On Sunday against the Cincinnati Bengals, Roethlisberger connected with Claypool four times with two of them turning into touchdowns.

After the game, Claypool spoke to NFL Network reporter Aditi Kinkhabwala and he once again admitted it was Roethlisberger improvising that led to the scores. Claypool said Big Ben just tells them where to go, they do it and the football is there.

Pittsburgh has basically just handed the offense over to Roethlisberger when the team needs a play and he continues to deliver. Roethlisberger threw for 333 yards on Sunday and four passing touchdowns. Big Ben completed passes to seven different players and is maximizing the young talent on the roster.

Better to be safe than sorry: Steelers plan to keep COVID-19 protocols strict

Pittsburgh Steelers HC Mike Tomlin plans to keep stricter COVID-19 protocols this week.

[jwplayer JZtzT24f-ThvAeFxT]

Last week the Pittsburgh Steelers got a take of that COVID-19 life. After tight end Vance McDonald tested positive for COVID-19, it ended up putting four other players on the Reserve/COVID-19 list for the week including quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and linebacker Vince Williams.

Thanks to this scare, the Steelers plan to maintain their strict COVID-19 protocols this week according to head coach Mike Tomlin. The Steelers now turn their attention to the Jacksonville Jaguars on the road and a short week before they take on the Baltimore Ravens at home. Pittsburgh is 9-0 and cannot afford to slip up against the 1-8 Jaguars due to mismanagement of COVID-19 protocols.

Ben Roethlisberger proves doubters wrong with 4-touchdown performance

Big Ben is starting to click with his group of young, talented receivers.

In a season where questions abounded whether he had “it” anymore, Ben Roethlisberger is proving doubters wrong.

Big Ben has guided his team to an unbeaten 9-0 record with a four-touchdown, 333-yard performance versus the Cincinnati Bengals.

You would have to go back to two seasons ago, Week 9 versus the Carolina Panthers, to find a better performance by Roethlisberger. On that day, he threw for 328 yards and five touchdowns.

In Pittsburgh’s 36-10 victory over the Bengals, Roethlisberger spread the ball around to seven different receivers, three of whom found paydirt. Rookie receiver Chase Claypool enjoyed his third multi-touchdown game of the season with two scores. Diontae Johnson and JuJu Smith-Schuster both pitched in with one apiece.

2020 is the first season with this group of talented, young receivers, and it appears as if everything is starting to click.

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger admits the week off really helped his arm

Did the Steelers discover the new normal for quarterback Ben Roethlisberger?

[sendtonews_embed video_id=”xlentAIZAf-1038131-7498″]

I’m not sure how many quarterbacks can take a full week off from real live practice and go out and throw for more than 300 yards but Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is one of them. Roethlisberger had his whole weekly routine turned upside down to being on the Reserve/COVID-19 list but maybe the MVP candidate found his new normal.

Roethlisberger readily admitted when he spoke to the media after throwing for 333 yards in the team’s 36-10 thrashing of the Cincinnati Bengals that at this point of the season he felt like the extra rest on his arm was really beneficial.

The question for Roethlisberger and the coaches at this point has to be should the Steelers adjust Big Ben’s workload through the week given the circumstances. The team didn’t get a legitimate bye week this season which just adds strain to Roethlisberger’s surgically repaired elbow.

There’s no way Roethlisberger needs the reps to be in sync with his talented young group of receivers and now that he’s off the COVID-19 list he could still be at the facilities. But this might have shown Pittsburgh a way to keep Roethlisberger fresh and sharp for the second half of the season.
