On Saturday the Pittsburgh Steelers announced a handful of roster moves as they prepare to take on the Cincinnati Bengals. The big moves are tight end Eric Ebron and offensive lineman J.C. Hassenauer headed to the Reserve/Injured list.

However, the Steelers made several other roster moves. To relace Hassenauer on the roster, the Steelers have signed swing lineman John Leglue to the 53-man roster.

The Steelers also elevated defensive lineman Daniel Archibong and wide receiver Anthony Miller to the active roster from the practice squad. Both guys will revert back to the practice squad automatically.

To fill Leglue’s spot on the practice squad, Pittsburgh brought back kicker Sam Sloman.

The Pittsburgh Steelers announced a trio of roster moves on Saturday. With cornerback Cameron Sutton out for Sunday’s game with the Denver Broncos, the Steelers promoted safety Karl Joseph to the 53-man roster for the game.

Pittsburgh also announced they were signing wide receiver Cody White to the 53-man roster and in turn will release guard Rashaad Coward. White could see some action this week against the Denver Broncos with James Washington out.

Joseph is a former first-round pick and starter for the Las Vegas Raiders. He also spent time with the Cleveland Browns. Joseph has 285 total tackles in 63 career games.

The Steelers have promoted OLB Derrek Tuszuka to the 53-man roster.

The Pittsburgh Steelers called up outside linebacker Derrek Tuszka from the practice squad last week less than two days before its game with the Cincinnati Bengals. Tuszuka showed enough on Sunday against Cincinnati that the team has decided to keep Tuszuka on the 53-man roster and waive fellow outside linebacker Jamir Jones.

Mostly likely, if Jones clears waivers, the Steelers will sign him back to the practice squad to replace Tuszuka there. Tuszuka played his college football at North Dakota State University. The second-year pro had two tackles on Sunday as the Steelers continue to deal with injuries at outside linebacker.

In response to the rash of injuries on the roster, the Pittsburgh Steelers have made a couple of roster moves ahead of its division showdown with the Cincinnati Bengals.

With wide receiver Diontae Johnson out with a knee injury, Cody White has been elevated to the 53-man roster. Johnson hurt his knee on the final play of last week’s loss to the Las Vegas Raiders and was unable to practice this week.

Edge rusher Derrek Tuszka was also moved from the practice squad to the active roster in response to injuries. The Steelers are set to play without both starting outside linebackers as T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith are both dealing with groin injuries.

Tuszka played his college ball at North Dakota State and was a seventh-round pick of the Denver Broncos in 2020. The Steelers also had the option of moving up newly acquired edge rusher Taco Charlton but opted for a player more familiar with the system. Tuszka should be the team’s third edge rusher behind Melvin Ingram and Jamir Miller and could see a significant workload.

Despite the first regular-season game just a week away, the Pittsburgh Steelers continue to tweak their roster. According to NFL reporter Ian Rapoport, the Steelers have worked a trade with the Seahawks for cornerback Ahkello Witherspoon.

Witherspoon was the third-round pick of the San Francisco 49ers in 2017 and started 33 games over four seasons. Witherspoon signed with the Seahawks as a free agent in this offseason but his time with the team was short-lived.

The addition of a Witherspoon gives Pittsburgh a long, rangy boundary cornerback and really offers the secondary some freedom in their sub-package defense. There’s been no official word about the terms of the trade but we will keep you updated.
