2024 projected win totals for each NFC East team

We’re looking at a ranking of all four NFC East teams including the Philadelphia Eagles by 2024 win total predictions

We’re about 40 days from the 2024 NFL schedule reveal, but the world and Eagles fans already know who their opponents will be.

The league uses multiple factors to determine the year’s game schedule.

There’s a cycle of inter-conference faceoffs; each NFC division rotates through each AFC division every four seasons and the other NFC divisions every three seasons.

In addition, where a team finishes within their division dictates a same-finish matchup with one team from the opposite conference and whichever divisions aren’t in the rotation for that season.

Philadelphia previously had one of the more difficult schedules over the past two years, but 2024 will see the Eagles among the top ten easiest schedules based on win-loss percentages from last year.

Offering an early glimpse into where the Eagles could finish this season, DraftKings revealed a 2024 win total prediction for all 32 teams, and Philadelphia landed at No. 6 on the list.

Here’s where all four NFC East teams are projected to land.

Former Wisconsin center signs with Washington Commanders

Former Wisconsin center signs with Washington Commanders

Former Wisconsin Badgers and Dallas Cowboys center Tyler Biadasz agreed to a three-year deal with the Washington Commanders Monday afternoon.

A fourth-round pick in the 2020 NFL draft, Biadasz started 47 games for the Cowboys over the past three seasons and earned a Pro Bowl nod for his stellar 2022 campaign.

With roughly $96 million in cap space, the Commanders added Biadasz to improve a bottom-tier offensive line from 2023. Biadasz ranks among the NFL’s elite in terms of pressure rate, something critical in a division littered with spectacular athletes on the defensive line.

Biadasz started at center in all 41 games of his Wisconsin career and was awarded the Rimington Trophy in 2019, recognizing the best center in college football.

Most notably, the Amherst, Wisconsin native, played his entire college career blocking for two-time Doak Walker Award winner Jonathan Taylor, one of the most celebrated running backs in UW history.

The acquisition of Biadasz could pay dividends for first-year head coach Dan Quinn with Brian Robinson Jr. budding in the backfield and a rookie quarterback projected to start under center.

Saints ST coach Darren Rizzi leading onside kick rules change proposal

Successful onside kicks have become a rare thing in the NFL, but Saints special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi is working to reverse that:

Successful onside kicks have become a rare thing in the NFL as health and safety-minded rules changes cut down on opportunities for teams to design a clever play, but New Orleans Saints special teams coordinator Darren Rizzi is working to reverse that.

Rizzi workshopped a proposal with other special teams coordinators around the league (namely the Dallas Cowboys’ John Fassel and Chicago Bears’ Richard Hightower, per the MMQB’s Albert Breer) to present to the NFL competition committee with hopes of making the game’s third phase more exciting while keeping player safety in mind.

According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, their proposal would limit onside kick attempts to situations in which teams are trailing in the fourth quarter, as well as requiring them to declare their intentions before trying it. But they would be allowed to use old-school unbalanced formations, giving the kicking team a numbers advantage in recovery.

This is one of several ways in which the NFL is trying to relitigate kick returns after their last wave of rules changes essentially nullified them; we’ve never seen so few kicks returned or onside kicks recovered in the history of the game. Pelissero adds that other aspects of the proposal include more limitations on when and where players can move before the kick is touched, as well as increasing the distance gained from a touchback to 35 yards.

Still, if these rules already existed we’d be without one of the most memorable plays in Saints history: “Ambush,” the surprise onside kick to start the third quarter of Super Bowl XLIV.

The NFL has written itself into a corner by coming down so hard on kick returns. More rules changes could help, but they’re just as likely to continue whittling the play’s impact on the game even further down. Having experienced special teams coaches like Rizzi at the forefront may be good for the process, but the results will speak for themselves.

Jaguars reportedly interested in trade for Eagles’ Haason Reddick

The Jaguars are reportedly among the teams that have inquired about Eagles pass rusher Haason Reddick.

The Jacksonville Jaguars need pass-rushing help and they’re reportedly poking around the trade market to find some. According to Mike Fisher of Sports Illustrated’s Cowboys Country, the Jaguars are among the teams that have shown interest in trading for the Philadelphia Eagles’ Haason Reddick.

Reddick, a former Arizona Cardinals first-round pick, joined the Eagles in 2022 and has been one of the NFL’s top pass rushers in recent seasons. In two years with Philadelphia, Reddick has racked up 27 sacks, five forced fumbles and 24 tackles for loss.

But with the 29-year-old pass rusher due to count about $21.8 million against the Eagles’ salary cap next season and 2023 first-rounder Nolan Smith waiting in the wings, Reddick was granted permission to seek a trade. Via Fisher:

“Our source mentions Dallas and Jacksonville as among the teams that are “interested” in making a move. (There are rumors mentioning Detroit, Houston and New England here, but we have not confirmed.)”

If those are the teams in the mix, the obvious advantage for the Jaguars in a bidding war with the Cowboys is that they’re in an opposite conference than the Eagles. Teams rarely make trades with division rivals, and Dallas probably faces an uphill climb getting a deal done with Philadelphia.

For nearly a year, the Jaguars have been considered in the mix for Minnesota Vikings pass rusher Danielle Hunter. It seems that’s not the only top-flight sack artist the Jaguars have inquired about.

Where all 32 NFL teams ranked by average home game attendance during the 2023 season (including the New Orleans Saints):

The New Orleans Saints have fallen into a slump in life without Drew Brees and Sean Payton, but the Who Dat Nation is still showing up and supporting their team. They’re certainly bringing a stronger presence to the Caesars Superdome than most teams around the league.

Here’s where all 32 teams (including the Saints) ranked in average attendance at home games in 2023, using numbers reported at ESPN:

Some fanbases travel a whole lot better than others…

The Seahawks are known for having one of the loudest and most dedicated home crowds in all of professional sports. However, there’s more to it than that – as we discovered in Week 17 to our chagrin some fanbases travel a whole lot better than others. Let’s see how all 32 teams stack up in average attendance for both home and road games last season.

Chargers named potential landing spot for 3 free agent offensive linemen

With Jim Harbaugh as the Chargers’ head coach, he is going to prioritize fixing the running game, which means bolstering the offensive line.

With Jim Harbaugh as the Chargers’ head coach, he is going to prioritize fixing the running game, which means bolstering the offensive line.

Los Angeles’ search begins in free agency. Pro Football Focus’ Brad Spielberger believes they could be an ideal destination for three pending free-agent offensive linemen, two being centers and the other a guard.

The two centers are Raiders’ Andre James and Cowboys’ Tyler Biadasz.

James is coming off a career year, earning the highest PFF grades as a run blocker and in pass protection. He would fit well in offensive coordinator Greg Roman’s power/gap scheme.

Biadasz, a former fourth-round pick, has played at a high level since being drafted in 2020. He started nearly every game from 2021 to 2023 and was named to the Pro Bowl in 2022.

The Chargers will most likely need to find a starting center, with Corey Linsley’s future in doubt due to a medical issue.

The guard that was listed was Packers’ Jon Runyan.

There is some familiarity as Runyan played for Harbaugh at Michigan from 2015 to 2019. He has experience at both guard spots, and with a new system being implemented, there is no guarantee that Zion Johnson or Jamaree Salyer will be starters next season.

Aden Durde on defensive communication, Mike Macdonald and more

Watch: New Seahawks defensive coordinator Aden Durde talks about defensive communication and philosophy, head coach Mike Macdonald and more.

Nepotism is popular in just about every industry and football coaching is no different. Sometimes getting a job in the NFL comes down to who you know far more than what you actually know about the game. There are exceptions to the rule, though. It appears that new Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald might be one of them.

Apparently Macdonald had no previous relationship with former Cowboys defensive line coach Aden Durde. Even though they had never met, Durde reportedly knocked the interview out of the park and got himself hired as defensive coordinator. Here’s what Durde told Seattle media about Macdonald and his defensive philosophy when he spoke with them on Thursday.

Slowly but surely, Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald is filling out his coaching staff for the 2024 sason.

According to a report by Tom Pelissero at NFL Network, the team intends to hire Cowboys defensive line coach Aden Durde as their new defensive coordinator.

Durde played linebacker in his time and then got his start coaching with the Falcons in 2018 as their defensive quality control coach. After a couple years in that position, he moved up to outside linebackers coach. From there he jumped ship to the Cowboys, where he served under defensive coordinator Dan Quinn the last three years as their defensive line coach.

Durde will be easing in to his new role. In his introductory press conference, Macdonald told reporters that he would be calling the defensive plays “for now,” or until his defensive coordinator is ready to take over.
