Denver Broncos 2023 Schedule

The Broncos have seven games left to attempt to get into the NFL playoffs.

The Denver Broncos are set to host the Cleveland Browns on Sunday in a Week 12 showdown with big implications in the AFC playoff race.

The Broncos are set to travel 19,930 miles this season and face the 12th-hardest strength of schedule in the league. Before any flexes, Denver’s initial schedule includes four prime-time games.

The Broncos will play nine games at their home Empower Field at Mile High Stadium this year and eight games on the road. Because the league has an unbalanced 17-game schedule, the NFC and AFC rotate between having an extra home game. This year, the AFC gets a ninth home game.

Denver quarterback Russell Wilson will aim to bounce back this fall after a disappointing first season with the Broncos in 2022. Wilson should be helped by the arrival of new head coach Sean Payton, a QB guru.

WATCH: Chiefs OL Trey Smith mic’d up vs. Eagles in Week 11

Watch #Chiefs OL Trey Smith’s mic’d up segment against the Philadelphia #Eagles in Week 11.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ brutal second-half collapse against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week 11 was a disappointing development during the highly anticipated Super Bowl LVII rematch on Monday Night Football. Few saw the loss coming when Kansas City entered halftime with a two-score lead, and even late in the game, it seemed that the Chiefs had every opportunity to earn back their lead.

Chiefs lineman Trey Smith was locked in during all four quarters, and while Kansas City was playing from behind, his efforts never waned. Smith was mic’d up for the Week 11 tilt and gave fans an inside look at his on-field personality during the Chiefs’ loss.

While the final score of this game left something to be desired for fans in Kansas City, the efforts of the Chiefs’ players were admirable, even if they couldn’t pull out a win.

Expect the team to play with more grit in Week 12 as they look to earn their eighth win of the 2023 season against the Las Vegas Raiders in Sin City.

Ranking the Week 11 rookie quarterback performances

Ranking the Week 11 rookie quarterback performances, from Stroud to Young

Another week down, another week to evaluate the performances of the multiple rookie starting quarterbacks in the league. We once again saw a mixed bag from all the rookies, but also saw some flashes from some newcomers.

Let’s take a look at each rookie and rank their Week 11 performances from best to worst:

Chiefs defense allows fewest yards per play since Week 8

The #Chiefs defense is allowing the fewest yards per play in the NFL since Week 8.

The Kansas City Chiefs defense has stepped up its game in 2023 and has some seriously impressive stats to show for its tremendous efforts this season. Led by defensive backs L’Jarius Sneed, Trent McDuffie and Justin Reid, the unit is allowing the fewest yards per play of any team in the NFL since Week 8, according to Pro Football Focus.

While the team may be in a bit of a rut on the other side of the ball, the outstanding play of its defense should give them an opportunity to put together a strong end to their 2023 campaign as they look to clinch the top seed in the AFC playoffs in January.

Expect defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo to continue developing the young talent at his disposal over the course of Kansas City’s last seven games. If he can manage to squeeze any more production out of his players in the season’s homestretch, the Chiefs should have no problem making some noise when elimination games start.

Chiefs OC Matt Nagy defends WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling’s 2023 performance

#Chiefs OC Matt Nagy defended WR Marquez Valdes-Scantling after his brutal performance against the #Eagles in Week 11.

The Kansas City Chiefs’ depth at wide receiver is being questioned again by critics following multiple dropped passes in Monday night’s loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. The most notable drop was on the last drive of the game by veteran Marquez Valdes-Scantling, which could’ve resulted in the go-ahead touchdown for Kansas City.

Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy has had to answer many questions throughout the season regarding his receivers’ room’s quality. Monday night’s struggles, especially with the usually sure-handed Valdes-Scantling, raised more as he spoke with reporters via Zoom on Tuesday.

“There’s things that go into that. I think it’s probably everybody’s definition, I know, we all look at the numbers, and then that sort of thing,” Nagy explained. “But there is a lot at the same point in time. He does a lot, well, that sometimes doesn’t show up on the stat sheet. And you know, for instance, you look at the touchdown catch that Travis (Kelce) had that everybody’s gonna read about in the touchdown pass from Pat (Patrick Mahomes) and the catch by Kelce.

“But a lot of reasons why that play worked was because of what MVS (Marquez Valdes-Scantling) did. And sometimes that doesn’t show up in the staff book. And there’s other things that he does, and these players do that, that don’t show up, that we have to make sure that they get credit for behind the scenes. And so he does a lot of that. And I think that’s a credit to him. And that can be very selfless at times, which we love.”

Valdes-Scantling contributed as a diversion on Travis Kelce’s first-half touchdown reception but was unable to record a catch himself after three targets.

“Production-wise and number-wise. Yeah, he’s not where he was last year. And we do know that we have, hopefully, a bunch of (the) season left.” said Nagy, “And we want to be able to continue to keep working through these things as we have, you know, these different wide receivers, and I know similar to last year, but he’s had a great attitude this whole time, and we just got to keep staying positive.”

The Chiefs return to action in the AFC West on Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders, eager to put Monday Night’s collapse behind them with a strong effort on the road.

WATCH: Best moments from the ‘ManningCast’ in Week 11

Check out the best of the ‘ManningCast’ from Week 11.

The defending Super Bowl Champions, Kansas City Chiefs, lost in a rematch of last season’s championship game to the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night, 21-17. Of course, a Monday night game calls for a Monday Night Football broadcast. And a Monday night broadcast means ESPN2’s alternate ManningCast as well.

Although Eli and Peyton Manning use their cache as former Super Bowl champions to give insight into the football world, their natural brotherly comedic timing has made their ManningCast a hit. The combination of football smarts discussing the game with their comedic but natural reactions to what’s happening gives the ManningCast a chance to create memorable moments.

During Monday night’s game, some of the moments that the Manning brothers reacted to: AJ Brown’s near strip after a Chief interception, Iowa basketball superstar Caitlyn Clark’s childhood photos, and Marquez Valdes-Scantling’s crucial dropped pass that could have put the Chiefs ahead of the Eagles late in the fourth quarter. How former Alabama players performed in Week 11 of NFL season

Roll Tide Wire takes a close look at how former Alabama players performed in Week 11 of the NFL season.

Alabama is one of the top programs in the country when it comes to producing NFL talent. The Crimson Tide are well-represented on both sides of the ball and at just about every position on the football field.

Week 11 of the 2023 season kicked off on Thursday night and concluded on Monday night, which means there were a lot of former Alabama players suiting up for their respective professional teams.

Believe it or not, 26 of the 32 teams in the NFL have at least one Alabama player on its roster. There are not many college programs that can say the same.

Roll Tide Wire breaks down how former Alabama players performed in their Week 11 matchups.

Chiefs TE Travis Kelce passed Jamaal Charles on this franchise leaderboard vs. Eagles

#Chiefs TE Travis Kelce passed Jamaal Charles on this franchise leaderboard after his seven catch performance against the #Eagles in Week 11.

While the result of the Kansas City Chiefs’ Week 11 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles left a lot to be desired for fans, All-Pro tight end Travis Kelce managed to make some history in the Super Bowl LVII rematch.

With his performance against Philadelphia, Kelce passed legendary running back Jamaal Charles on the franchise leaderboard for combined yardage. He now trails Dante Hall for first place.

Kelce’s seven-catch showing in Week 11 wasn’t the flashiest of his career but was a net positive for Kansas City’s offense, which fell flat in the highly anticipated matchup.

After helping the Chiefs get out to an early lead, Kelce was unable to make much of an impact late in the game, and couldn’t quite get Kansas City out of its second-half rut that doomed the team to failure against the Eagles.

Expect Kelce to do his best to get the Chiefs back on track in Week 12 when Kansas City travels to Sin City to face the Las Vegas Raiders.

Broncos jump up 8 spots in NFL power rankings after ‘Sunday Night Football’

The Broncos jumped up eight spots in NFL power rankings after beating the Vikings on ‘Sunday Night Football.’

Following their fourth straight win of the 2023 season, the Denver Broncos are now ranked 15 in Nate Davis’ latest NFL power rankings for USA TODAY Sports. That’s up eight spots from their No. 23 rank last week.

Here is Davis’ commentary on the Broncos after Week 11:

Still wondering where Minnesota defenders thought Denver WR Jerry Jeudy was going to throw that ball. But maybe such a juke is apropos after the Broncos faked an early season death.

Elsewhere in the AFC West, the Chiefs are ranked No. 2, the Los Angeles Chargers are ranked No. 17 and the Las Vegas Raiders are ranked No. 19. The Broncos are now considered the second-best team in the division.

The Cleveland Browns, who will travel to Denver to face the Broncos in Week 12, are ranked No. 10.

The Carolina Panthers are ranked No. 32 (last) and the Philadelphia Eagles are ranked No. 1. To view the complete NFL power rankings going into Week 10, visit USATODAY.com.

Chiefs CB Trent McDuffie reflects on his first two-sack game

#Chiefs CB Trent McDuffie reflected on first two-sack game in his football career in comments to the media after Kansas City’s loss to the #Eagles.

The Monday night rain fell hard and often at Arrowhead Stadium as the Kansas City Chiefs came up short against the Philadelphia Eagles. The offense wasn’t effective in the second half, wasting a solid performance from the defense that held Jalen Hurts and company for most of the game.

Chiefs cornerback Trent McDuffie was a standout in the game, securing two sacks for the first time in his career, including college. The second-year upstart shared his thoughts on the accomplishment with reporters during the post-game press conference.

“It’s great. I think my last sack was last year against the Broncos. So, (I’m) excited I can get two tonight. But huge credit to coach Spags (Steve Spagnuolo). I mean, his game plan. And his game calling was huge tonight and showed a lot of different looks. I was messing up their offense.” said McDuffie, “So I thought he did a great job and allowed us to get a lot of plays on the ball and sacks at that.”

McDuffie also forced his fifth fumble of the season to go along with his sacks. He reiterated to reporters how unique the night was and his desire to improve on the career night.

“No, sir. Never. I think my first (two) sack game in the NFL.” said McDuffie, “So definitely a first, but hopefully, I can get some more.”

McDuffie has thrived in corner blitzing situations and forcing turnovers in what is becoming a pro bowl caliber season. The Chiefs will hope for a similar performance in their next game this Sunday against the Las Vegas Raiders.
