Florida State vs Wake Forest Game Preview

Why Wake Forest Will Win

Sam Hartman almost pulled it off.

Clemson is Clemson – it had the defense and it had the guys to pull off the 51-45 win last week over the Demon Deacons – but Hartman balled out with his third straight 300-yard game since returning from the blood clot issue and hit the Tigers for six touchdown passes and a slew of deep plays.

Florida State hasn’t seen anything like Hartman and the Wake Forest passing game.

Jayden Daniels was able to hit the midrange passes in LSU’s loss to the Noles, and he almost pulled off the win with a late rally. Louisville’s Malik Cunningham threw for 243 yards, and even Boston College’s dying offense was able to connect on a slew of short range throws.

Florida State has to get ready to crank up the offense, but …

NFL Expert Picks, Week 4

Why Florida State Will Win

Can the Wake Forest defense hold up?

The pass rush is good, and the run defense hasn’t been too bad, but DJ Uiagalelei came up with a terrific passing day for Clemson. Now it’s Jordan Travis’s turn.

He might not be the flashiest of quarterbacks in a huge year for the position, but the veteran has been accurate, he’s coming up with the explosive downfield plays, and his team is 4-0 after he bombed away for over 300 yards in the 44-14 win over Boston College.

As good as Travis is, the FSU passing game isn’t going to be able to keep up yard for yard with what Hartman brings, but it’s the rushing attack that should take over.

– Schedules, Previews CollegeNFL

What’s Going To Happen

The Seminoles lead the ACC in rushing, they’re great at controlling the ball and the tempo, and they’ll have the O on the field for over 35 minutes.

And the weather? After so much worry and concern about Hurricane Ian pummeling Tallahassee, it shifted away. It’s going to be in the mid-80s with minimal wind and little chance of rain.

The conditions will be perfect for a shootout. Florida State will come up with more from the running game to take over late in the thriller.

Florida State vs Boston College Game Preview

Why Boston College Will Win

Can the Boston College pass rush be enough to bother the Seminole backfield?

The run defense hasn’t been all that bad over the last few weeks after getting run over by Rutgers, but it’s the pass rush that needs to get to the FSU quarterback – no matter who that is.

Tate Rodemaker is the likely starter, but Jordan Travis might give it a go on a gimpy leg after getting hurt against Louisville. Rodemaker ended up pulling out the win hitting 6-of-10 passes for 109 yards and two scores with a pick, but now the BC coaching staff had a week to prepare for him.

The FSU secondary has been solid so far, but it allowed over 200 yards in each of the last two weeks, and it’s about to get thrown on over and over again because …

CFN Expert Picks, Week 4

Why Florida State Will Win

Boston College REALLY can’t run the ball.

It gave it a shot in the 38-17 win over Maine, but it was still a struggle. The passing game finally perked up against the FCSer, but it didn’t do enough in losses to Rutgers and Virginia Tech, and the ground game came up with just 33 yards on 54 carries in the two games.

Florida State has the punting game to give the struggling Eagle offense long field to work with, its own ground game has been solid enough to take over, and the O should dominate the time of possession battle if all goes according to plan.

Week 4 Schedule, Predictions, Game Preview

What’s Going To Happen

Boston College hasn’t been playing well, but Florida State is starting to get a bit beaten up. However, the Noles will move the chains and the Eagles won’t.

It’ll take about a half to get going, and then the FSU running game will start to bust off a few big runs. New star Seminole pass rusher Jared Verse is hurting, but the pressure will still be there on Phil Jurkovec throughout the game to ever let the Eagle offense get comfortable.

It’ll be another ugly win for the Seminoles, but 4-0 looks beautiful no matter what.

Florida State vs Louisville Game Preview

Why Florida State Will Win

Florida State is moving the sticks.

Rolling against Duquesne was no big deal, but the offense stepped up the passing attack against LSU and now gets a Louisville defense that’s been just okay on third downs.

It took a while, but there’s a chance that Florida State finally has an offensive line it can rely on. It allowed just three tackles for loss in the first two games, it’s been good enough for the running game, and it’s all contributing to the O connecting on third down after third down.

As long as the Noles control the time of possession battle and don’t make mistakes, they’re playing well enough to get this done on the road.

CFN Expert Picks, Week 3

Why Louisville  Will Win

The Cardinals got their groove back with the desperately needed win over UCF.

They might have struggled against Syracuse to start the season, but the offense wasn’t too bad – the turnovers were the problem, and the defense couldn’t come up with a key stop.

The pass rush has been there and there should be enough plays behind the line to matter. Florida State’s offensive line might be playing well so far, but the Cardinals will get creative to get to Jordan Travis.

The run defense has to hold up – LSU did a nice job of keeping the big plays on the ground to a minimum – and …

Week 3 Schedule, Predictions, Game Preview

What’s Going To Happen

Malik Cunningham has to be the best player on the field.

He struggled throwing it against UCF, but he took off for 121 yards and a score. Last year he ran for two touchdowns in the win over Florida State and was solid through the air, and in the 2020 win he hit the big plays down the field and didn’t run as much.

He’ll have to do it all at home.

The UCF version of Louisville is more real than the one that showed up at Syracuse. Now, with a decent performance from the defense and yet another great day from Cunningham against FSU, the Cardinal season really gets going.

LSU vs Florida State Game Preview

Why Florida State Will Win

406 rushing yards.

Duquesne might not exactly be LSU on the defensive front, but Florida State got the exact type of Week 0 performance everyone is looking for out of a game like that.

There were weather issues, and the scoring slowed down a bit in the 47-7 win, but three Seminoles ran for over 100 yards, the offensive line was opening up holes to give everyone move, and the O looked exactly like it’s supposed to under head coach Mike Norvell.

That might not just happen against Duquesne.

All of the pieces are there for the FSU offense to keep ripping off yards in chunks. LSU’s defense is going to be good right away – at least the talent is place – but if the Seminole offensive line is able to hold serve in pass protection, the production should be there.

However …

Week 1 CFN College Football Expert Picks

Why LSU Will Win

Florida State’s defense is going to have it much, much tougher this week.

There wasn’t anything big put on tape – the Noles didn’t need to go crazy defensively with a slew of blitzes or plays in the backfield – but the ends have to generate pressure to help out a talented – but inconsistent – secondary that has to deal with the loaded LSU receiving corps.

It’s all going to start with the lines for the Tigers. Three good blockers are coming in from the transfer portal to get the running game going, the defensive front six is going to keep bringing the heat and pressure from all sides, and the speed and athleticism are there in the linebacking corps to figure out the FSU running attack as the game goes on.

New head coach Brian Kelly has the guys. Now we get to see how quickly he can make them all fit.

Week 1 Schedule, Predictions, Game Previews, Saturday

What’s Going To Happen

The LSU fan base is expecting big things right away.

This isn’t a rebuilding job at LSU – there are enough new guys from the transfer portal to go along with the already strong base to expect massive things right away.

However, Florida State has been getting better, it has more playmakers now than it did over the last few seasons, and it’s going to have its moments.

LSU’s defense, though, will have bigger moments on third downs in the second half.

The Tiger team will be flying around over the last 20 minutes, the offense will be balanced, and Kelly will get out with a strong first win to kickoff his era.

Sun Belt Preseason Predictions For Every Game: Preview 2022

Sun Belt predictions for every team and every game in the 2022 college football season

The Sun Belt just got a whole lot more interesting with the addition of Marshall, Old Dominion, and Southern Miss from Conference USA – and getting them a year before it seemed possible – and also brought in FCS powerhouse James Madison to a be a part of the fun.

The divisions are staying for now, but the great additions will make it far, far tougher for Appalachian State, Coastal Carolina, and Louisiana to keep on dominating – even though they might not take that big a step back, if any.

While it might seem a bit cut-and-dry with the way the league is set up, watch out for some potentially big moves from some teams that struggled. The problem will be the schedules for Troy, South Alabama, and Arkansas State. Georgia State and Old Dominion programs that got to bowl games last season will have to fight, too.

The Sun Belt is stronger than ever and the season should be the best yet. The Sun Belt predictions for 2022 are …

2022 Preseason CFN ACC Offensive Player of the Year

RB Sean Tucker, Soph. Syracuse

Go ahead and name any one of about six or so ACC quarterbacks that might be the star of the league, and you probably won’t be wrong. Or, there’s a chance one of the others in the deep lot will rise up and be the best of the bunch. Meanwhile …

Sean Tucker might be the best running back in college football.

Everyone knows what’s coming with 34, and he still able to produce, running for almost 1,500 yards last year with 20 touchdowns with two receiving scores. He’s not all that big, but he’s tough, shifty, and really, really fast.

So yeah, the air attacks will take center stage in the conference, but Tucker should be the best of the offensive bunch.

2022 Preseason CFN ACC Defensive Player of the Year

DT Bryan Bresee, Jr. Clemson

Bresee has only been able to make 36 tackles with 5.5 sacks and 9.5 tackles for loss in his two seasons, but that’s partly because he suffered a torn ACL early last year to go along with a shoulder issue.

When he’s right – and he’s expected to be ready to go – the 6-5, 300-pounder has the talent to be the best overall player in the country and possible No. 1 overall pick with too much athleticism, skill, and quickness to go along with his size.
