Jessie Bates the rising star? Shawn Williams thinks so

Bengals safety Shawn Williams sees fellow DB Jessie Bates as a rising star in Cincinnati.

Should former Alabama DB Dre Kirkpatrick consider switching positions?

Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport created a list that states Dre Kirkpatrick may benefit from switching positions heading into 2020.

Former Alabama defensive back Dre Kirkpatrick was the No. 17 overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft. He played eight seasons for the Cincinnati Bengals as a cornerback, but after being cut, he is now a free agent that can’t find a landing spot.

In his eight seasons with the Bengals. Kirkpatrick started in 67 games where he tallied 65 pass deflections, 10 interceptions, 302 total tackles and two defensive touchdowns.

His numbers are not terrible, but they do not make him a prime target for teams scanning the free-agent market looking for a starting cornerback.

Bleacher Report’s Gary Davenport created a list of five NFL players that could benefit from switching positions. At No. 1 on the list is Kirkpatrick. Davenport believes a switch to safety would be better for him.

“Dating all the way back to before Kirkpatrick even entered the NFL, there has been speculation that he could be better suited to play free safety in the pros. More than a few corners have made the switch to safety later in their careers (Kareem Jackson and Devin McCourty are just two names on a long list), and showing added versatility would only help Kirkpatrick both find work and extend his NFL career,” say Davenport.

He claims that Kirkpatrick’s size has hurt him while playing at cornerback. Switching to safety could be a lot easier for him as he is taller than many corners and has the length to make bigger and better plays.

Cincinnati Bengals playoff odds and predicted total wins: NFL futures picks and best bets

Assessing the betting odds of the Cincinnati Bengals making the 2020 NFL playoffs and predicting their exact win total.

Will the Cincinnati Bengals make the 2020 NFL playoffs? Below, we look at the BetMGM betting odds and make our pick. We also predict their exact win total for the upcoming season.

Will the Cincinnati Bengals make the 2020 NFL playoffs?

The Bengals were the worst team in football in 2019 and play in the same division as the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers. Even with a huge improvement, making the postseason will be tough, especially with a rookie quarterback in Joe Burrow.

The odds for the Bengals to make the playoffs are +675. There is a reason why it is -1250 on the flip side for No. However, at those odds, it isn’t worth a wager. The best bet is NO (-1250), but you won’t win much. A $10 bet returns a profit of just $0.80.

How many games will the Cincinnati Bengals win in 2020? Bands

  • 0-4 wins +230
  • 5-8 wins -264
  • 9-12 wins +1100
  • 13-16 wins +40000

The Bengals have four games against teams not expected to be good this year. They host the Jacksonville Jaguars and New York Giants and they play the Miami Dolphins and Washington Redskins on the road.

It is reasonable to think they can at least split those games. In the division, it is hard to see them getting more than one win. If they sneak one other surprise, that only gets them to four. The best bet here is 0-4 wins (+230).

A $10 bet would return a profit of $23.

How many games will the Cincinnati Bengals win in 2020? Exact number

Based on the odds, Cincinnati is expected to win between five and eight games. Six is the favorite at +270; however, as described in the previous section, they will be lucky to get one division win in the AFC North against the Baltimore Ravens, Cleveland Browns and Pittsburgh Steelers.

They might win two of the four games against the expected bad teams, and they can probably steal a win against another team. That’s only four. They will be a better team but not significantly better in the win column.

Here, the best bet is to pick the Bengals to win FOUR games (+400).

At almost every position does Georgia have an NFL star — linebacker and running back being the most notable.

From veteran passer Matthew Stafford to new Falcons back Todd Gurley, to rookie kicker Rodrigo Blankenship, former Georgia Bulldogs look to put up big numbers again in 2020.

We’ve gone through an exercise of picking the best at each position to field a starting team of former Georgia players, all from a current pool of those currently on NFL rosters.

Remember, free agents did not make the team.

2020 AFC North Division Predictions: Best bets for who will win and exact standings

Looking at the NFL betting odds to win the AFC North Division in 2020 and predicting the exact order of the standings.

The Baltimore Ravens won the AFC North Division in 2019 but will they be able to repeat? Below, we look at the BetMGM betting odds for the AFC North Division in 2020 and make our best bets for who’ll win the division title and predict the exact order of the division standings.

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Odds last updated Tuesday, May 19 at 3:25 a.m. ET.

2020 AFC North Division bets: Who will win?

Here are the odds for first place in the division:

  • Baltimore Ravens -200
  • Pittsburgh Steelers +320
  • Cleveland Browns +500
  • Cincinnati Bengals +2500

After winning the division with a 14-2 record last season in which QB Lamar Jackson broke out and was a unanimous MVP, the Ravens are still the favorites. They improved even more on defense this offseason. This is an easy call. Take the RAVENS (-200).

New to sports betting? A $10 bet the Ravens to win the AFC North will return a profit of $5 if they do so.

2020 AFC North Division bets: Who will finish second?

Here are the odds for second place:

  • Steelers +140
  • Ravens +205
  • Browns +225
  • Bengals +1200

With the return of QB Ben Roethlisberger, the Steelers should be in a position to make it back to the postseason after narrowly missing in 2019. The defense is still solid and they will have better play at quarterback. The Browns are tough to trust with a shortened offseason and a new head coach. Take the STEELERS (+140).

A $10 bet would profit $14 here.

2020 AFC North Division bets: Who will finish third?

Here are the odds for third place.

  • Browns +105
  • Steelers +170
  • Bengals +525
  • Ravens +800

The Bengals still can’t be trusted to be anything more than last in the division. That leaves the Browns, who were 6-10 last season. They added protection for QB Baker Mayfield, so they should be at least as good as last year. Take the BROWNS (+105).

A $10 bet profits $10.50 if the Browns finish third.

2020 AFC North Division bets: Who will finish fourth?

Here are the odds for last place in the division.

  • Bengals -556
  • Browns +500
  • Steelers +900
  • Ravens +8000

The Bengals will have a rookie quarterback. While they were the worst team in the league last year, they improved this offseason, but in a division that seems to be easy to predict. This bet earns you virtually nothing, but the only bet you should make are the BENGALS (-556).

A $10 bet only profits $1.80.

2020 AFC North Division bets: Exact order of standings

For predicting the exact outcome of the division, this isn’t a big value, but it is pretty safe. Take the combo of the Ravens-Steelers-Browns-Bengals at +190 and expect to win at the end of the season. A $10 bet would profit $19.

Thaddeus Moss chose Redskins over Patriots and Bengals

Moss chose to sign with the Redskins after the draft simply because they called him before the Patriots or Bengals did.

The Washington Redskins were the big post-NFL Draft winners when they made headlines by signing undrafted free agent TE Thaddeus Moss, the son of Hall of Fame wide receiver Randy Moss.

Many expected Moss to be drafted somewhere in the later rounds, but he had to wait out the final picks of the draft without hearing his name called, which he said was a slap in the face. However, it was the Redskins who came calling first after the draft ended, and for that reason, he chose to sign with them.

This is interesting when you consider that both the New England Patriots and Cincinnati Bengals also called, and Moss still chose Washington. Playing for Bill Belichick and the Pats is a dream for may tight ends, and Moss’ former college quarterback, Joe Burrow, is now with the Bengals.

Nonetheless, Moss ended up in Washington, and the Redskins are happy to have him.
