Nick Sheridan praises the strength of offensive lineman Jaeden Roberts

Jaeden Roberts has quickly impressed new Alabama offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan

The Incredible Hulk, Samson, and Superman are just a few of the names synonymous with strength and power. According to new Alabama offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan, redshirt junior offensive lineman Jaeden Roberts belongs in that group.

On Tuesday afternoon, once the Crimson Tide wrapped up its seventh practice of the spring, Coach Sheridan would field questions from local reporters. When asked about Roberts, Sheidan’s face lit up like a Christmas tree.

“What a great kid, talk about a worker,” Sheridan told reporters. “Strong, extremely strong. I think he’s building on the foundation he has, with the experiences he has had, but a great kid. A joy to coach and tough and hard-working and strong. Did I mention strong? J-Rob is strong and an awesome kid. We’re glad he’s on our side.”

Standing at 6-foot-5, 315 pounds, Roberts has the ideal size to combine with his incredible strength making him a desirable option on the interior of the Alabama offensive line.

Roberts started nine games for the Tide in 2023 and was arguably one of the biggest surprises on offense last season.

It’s clear that Roberts has quickly earned the respect of the new coaching staff and should play an impactful role for the Crimson Tide in 2024.

Alabama advances to Round of 32 after high-scoring win over Charleston

Alabama basketball advances to the second round of March Madness after a statement win in the Round of 64 over 13-seed College of Charleston.

Two high-powered offenses took the court in Spokane, Washington, but only one earned the opportunity to advance. After putting up triple digits over No. 13 seed College of Charleston, No. 4 seed Alabama moves on to the Round of 32. The final score was 109-96, advantage Crimson Tide.

The Crimson Tide will now face the winner of No. 5 St. Mary’s and No. 12 Grand Canyon in the second round of the tournament.

Though the game started a little slow for the Tide, the offense got to work and never let up once the scoring party got started. Charleston had a slight lead early in the first half, but couldn’t stick around for too long. It was all Alabama for the majority of the contest.

Alabama advances with ease, but is the only team from the Yellowhammer State to win its opening matchup. Auburn, Samford and UAB all fell to their opponents.

Mark Sears led the team in scoring, which should not come as a surprise. Despite only having five assists and four rebounds, Sears managed to get a lot done on his own, putting up an impressive 30 points.

JC Latham comments on Kadyn Proctor’s return to Alabama

JC Latham responds to the Kadyn Proctor saga

Just a couple of months ago Kadyn Proctor was wrapping up his freshman season with Alabama before entering the transfer portal and heading back to his home state and joining the Iowa Hawkeyes.

Proctor’s imminent return to Tuscaloosa to rejoin the Alabama football program has the entire world of college football talking.

On Wednesday, at Alabama’s Pro Day, former Crimson Tide offensive lineman and projected first-round pick in next month’s NFL draft, JC Latham, offered up his thoughts on the saga surrounding Proctor.

“That’s the standard. We’re the standard. The grass isn’t always greener in other places, so when things happen and you think it might be better somewhere else, you get to find out the hard way that it’s not. It’s Alabama for a reason.”

Latham would also emphasize the improvements that Proctor made during his freshman campaign.

“He was a young pup when he first got in, and then just from summer, fall camp and moving forward, just the ability to adjust on the fly and keep things going. You look at the last game compared to the first game, you’ll see improvement right there.”

Proctor’s addition to the offensive line room in 2024 will be a tremendous help to a group that is still searching for its starting tackles.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow the Kadyn Proctor story and as the events and details are released, we will provide all updates.

TJ McCants slugs Alabama baseball to 15-7 win at Alabama State

Alabama uses a three home run performance from TJ McCants to power past Alabama State

No. 10 Alabama made the trip to Montgomery on Tuesday night to take on Alabama State for a midweek matchup against the Hornets. The Crimson Tide would come away with a 15-7 win while improving to 18-3 on the season.

The Crimson Tide was led by center fielder [autotag]TJ McCants[/autotag] who recorded a 4-for-4 night that included a double, three home runs, six RBI, four runs scored, and one walk as he reached in all five plate appearances.

Freshman Zane Adams took home the win for the Tide after allowing just one run in three innings pitched.

Following Alabama’s win, head coach [autotag]Rob Vaughn[/autotag] had the following to say about his team’s performance:

“Our bats were okay early, but TJ kind of let us breathe a little bit. Those were some unbelievable at-bats out of him. He drove the baseball and did some big things at the plate. He contributed a bunch of RBI and added some runs up there for us, which was huge. TJ was just phenomenal and we needed that on a night like tonight, just to create a little room for us and get us going.”

Alabama will travel to Athens this weekend to take on the Georiga Bulldogs who were swept by Kentucky last weekend to open SEC play.

Alabama basketball assistant coach Austin Claunch linked to head coaching vacancy

Nate Oats will have to hire his fourth assistant in a years time!

It appears [autotag]Nate Oats[/autotag] will be having to hire his fourth assistant coach in the last year as Austin Claunch is reportedly expected to take the head coaching job at UTSA.

Oats hired Claunch last offseason and he played an instrumental role in developing the Alabama offense into one of the most efficient groups in the country.

Claunch is just 34 years old but already has five years of head coaching experience as he was the head man at Nicholls before taking the assistant job with Oats in Tuscaloosa last year, posting a career record of 90-31.

Reports indicate that Claunch is expected to remain with the Crimson Tide through the remainder of Alabama’s season.

Alabama baseball defeats No. 5 Tennessee on Saturday night to even the series

Alabama baseball ends Tennessee’s 17-game winning streak!

After dropping game one of the three-game series on Friday night, Rob Vaughn and No. 14 Alabama defeated No. 5 Tennessee on Saturday night 6-3 to even the series at one game a piece.

Alabama jumped out front early with one run in the first, two in the second, and three in the third to build a six-run advantage after three full innings. With the hot start at the plate and solid pitching throughout, the Tide was able to end the Vols’ 17-game winning streak.

Following the win, head coach Rob Vaughn had the following to say:

“It was a good night for us tonight, but it’s going to be a quick turnaround tomorrow. We have to come out and get ready for a big punch from a talented and emotional group in that other dugout and (Tennessee) is going to come out swinging early. We’ll have to weather the storm and swing back, and it’s going to be a heck of a game tomorrow.”

The rubber match of the series will be played on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT on the SEC Network.

ESPN to broadcast Alabama’s first A-Day Game of Kalen DeBoer era

Alabama football is set to have annual A-Day Game broadcasted on ESPN

Tide fans and the rest of the college football world will not have to wait long to see a new era of Alabama football as it was announced on Monday that ESPN will be televising Kalen DeBoer’s inaugural A-Day Game on April 13 at 3 p.m. CT.

According to ESPN’s press release, Alabama’s spring game will be the only one on ESPN.

The eyes of the college football world will be on Coach DeBoer and his staff to see if he can continue the success in Tuscaloosa that the legendary Nick Saban built throughout his 17 seasons at the Capstone.

Last month on Tide 100.9, Coach DeBoer told Ryan Fowler he wants to keep the annual event as similar as possible.

“I’d love to keep the format that it’s been and what I know the fans love. We’ll certainly do that. But we need to make sure that everything we do is strategic and building up towards us getting better and maximizing each and every practice.

“But I’d love to keep the format that has been, the one that’s been a lot of fun for fans. So expecting a great A-Day crowd once again, and it should be a lot of fun for our guys.”

In the past, Alabama’s roster has been split into two teams with the first-team offense facing the first-team defense with the same applying to the second units. The winning team of the scrimmage later enjoys a steak dinner, while the losers eat beans and weenies.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow the progress of the Alabama football team this spring and will provide updates along the way.

Alabama baseball sweeps Lipscomb with offensive clinic

Alabama baseball improves to 15-1 with series sweep of Lipscomb

No. 13 Alabama blew past Lipscomb this weekend in Tuscaloosa with an offensive outburst against the Bisons. Thanks to inclement weather, Friday night’s contest was moved to Saturday to form a doubleheader.

The Crimson Tide took game one of the series in exciting fashion, winning 20-13. In the nightcap of the doubleheader, Alabama would once again find success at the plate, winning game two 10-1.

Alabama would complete the series sweep on Sunday afternoon from a beautiful Sewell-Thomas Stadium with a 10-5 victory over the Bisons.

Following the sweep, Coach Rob Vaughn had the following to say about his team’s weekend performance:

“Beating anybody three times is tough, especially when you’re trying to do it in a 24-hour window. That’s a veteran lineup (in Lipscomb) that gave us some fits and would just never go away. That’s a credit to their staff and their entire team. That’s a good group that’s been around the block, and their record doesn’t reflect it yet, but those guys are going to give other teams fits.”

With the series sweep, Alabama improved to 15-1 on the season. The Crimson Tide will have Monday off before traveling to Hattiesburg to take Southern Miss on Tuesday night.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to monitor the Alabama baseball team as the season progresses.
