Alabama’s 2022 early enrollees include nine top 100 recruits

The season has come to an end and it is time to start shifting our focus to the team that will take the field in 2022.

Nick Saban and his staff had a fantastic early signing period back in December, and several of those prospects have already enrolled at the university.

Among those that have enrolled early, nine of the twelve are top 100 recruits according to the On3 consensus rankings.

Below is the complete list of early enrollees and their On3 consensus rankings.

5 takeaways from Alabama’s early signing day

5 early signing day takeaways for Alabama

Yesterday, Nick Saban and Alabama hauled in some of the top talent from around the country on early signing day.

Currently, the Tide sits with the second-ranked class in the nation according to On3.

Now that the dust has settled and we have had time to reflect on some of the events from a wild Wednesday, I thought we could take a few moments to look at some of the key takeaways from this steller class for the Crimson Tide.

Let’s get started!

SIGNED: 4-Star OT Tyler Booker inks NLI with Alabama

Alabama earns a huge commitment from the IMG Academy OT.

Over the Summer, in July, Tyler Booker, a 6-foot-5, 325 pound offensive lineman at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida verbally committed to the Crimson Tide.

Today, Booker made good on his verbal commit and signed with Nick Saban and Alabama.

Though he had chosen the Crimson Tide, other programs wanted to try their best to flip him, but he did not budge. He was recruited by just about every major program you can think of that has national relevance.

Where does Florida go now after their top OT recruit committed to Alabama?

UF has to go back to the drawing board after it missed on offensive tackle Tyler Booker because he was considered a must-get recruit.

Florida’s recruiting class this cycle took a big hit when four-star offensive tackle Tyler Booker committed to Alabama on Friday. He was considered a must-get prospect because of his talent and the need the Gators have at his position. Booker was rated as one of the best at his position. Florida has also struggled to land blue-chip offensive linemen the last couple of cycles that led to the unit being one of the worst on the team the last two seasons.

After missing out on Booker, where do offensive line coach John Hevesy and head coach Dan Mullen look next to improve their play up front?

Unfortunately for Florida, most of the guys left on its board that has shown interest in the Orange and Blue are three-star prospects like offensive tackles Leyton Nelson, Jacob Hood and Daughtry Richardson. Sports Illustrated’s AllGators pointed out that Florida could pursue four-star offensive tackle Julian Armella, but the St. Thomas Aquinas star has not reciprocated interest in the Gators.

Out of those four prospects, Richardson and Nelson are the only players that have visited Florida. It’s also possible that one of the three-star recruits pan out to be a stud, but the percentages of players of that caliber are much lower than Booker who was a top-100 player.

Hence why the miss on Booker was such a big deal. Florida had a few factors in its favor during his recruitment. The Gators were able to get him on campus the weekend before the NCAA dead period went in place because of the COVID-19 pandemic and the first weekend after it was lifted. Booker also labeled Florida as the closest thing to his dream school.

It’s still possible that the Gators could flip Booker, but it’s unlikely because no one wants to tell Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban that they’ve had a change of heart.

This must-get recruiting target commits to ‘Bama over Florida

Offensive tackle Tyler Booker was considered Florida’s top target regardless of position. He committed to Alabama Friday over UF and UGA.

Four-star offensive tackle Tyler Booker was considered a must-get for Florida by many fans and recruiting experts. Because in previous cycles coach Dan Mullen and offensive line coach John Hevesy have failed to land a blue-chip offensive lineman. The Gators will most likely go another cycle without landing a top-rated offensive lineman after Booker committed to Alabama Friday.

The IMG offensive tackle chose the Crimson Tide over Florida and UGA. Heading into June, most believed that it was a Gators and Bulldogs battle for Booker. However, after official visits, it came down to Georgia and Alabama.

This is a major blow for Florida as Booker was arguably its top target overall regardless of position. The Gators also needed to land some talented offensive tackles this cycle because their current tackles have failed to develop and become quality starters in the SEC. The last time Florida landed a high four-star offensive lineman was Joshua Braun in the 2020 cycle.

Mullen and Hevesy will likely keep kicking the tires on Booker to see if they can get him to flip. But getting any Alabama commit to change his mind is extremely difficult.

Alabama recruiting: Top-5 OT commits to Tide

Alabama landed a huge addition to its 2022 class on Friday!

Alabama head coach Nick Saban and the rest of the program’s staff continues to dominate out on the recruiting trail.

On Friday afternoon, four-star offensive lineman Tyler Booker from IMG Academy in Florida committed to the Crimson Tide, choosing Tuscaloosa as his next home over some of the countries top programs.

Those other programs include Georgia, Oregon, Ohio State, and Florida.

Hayes Fawcett with On3 recruiting services announced the excellent news at around 5:30 p.m. CT via his Twitter account. Fawcett also pointed out that Alabama now sits with the No. 6 overall class after the news.

Booker is now commitment No. 11 for Alabama’s class of 2022.

According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Booker is rated as the nation’s No. 39 overall player, No. 5 offensive tackle and No. 8 player from the state of Florida.

Rivals (rating him at No. 109 overall) is lower on Booker than 247Sports (No. 35 overall), but regardless, he’s an excellent get for the Crimson Tide, who continue to roll out on the recruiting trail.

More elite recruits visit UGA football

The Georgia Bulldogs continue to host elite recruits like Jalon Walker from across the country this summer

The Georgia Bulldogs continue to host elite recruits from across the country this summer. June has been a busy month for Kirby Smart and company, but the Dawgs don’t have any commitments to show for it yet.

Georgia has actually lost a couple of key commitments this month. Despite this, there’s still immense excitement and optimism this offseason because of high quality recruits like Jalon Walker that have visited Athens.

Here are a few of the most recent top high school recruits to visit the University of Georgia:

Georgia football in top five for 4-star Tyler Booker

The Georgia Bulldogs are among the top five schools for four-star IMG Academy offensive tackle recruit Tyler Booker

The Georgia Bulldogs are among the top five schools for four-star offensive tackle recruit Tyler Booker, who is a member of the class of 2022.

Booker plays high school football at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida. Booker is from New Haven, Connecticut, but he’s considering attending three SEC schools and Oregon, so he’s no afraid to venture far from home.

IMG Academy is loaded with talented recruits, so Booker is competing against elite high school players, and Booker has access to incredible athletic facilities. He’ll be well prepared for the next level.

Tyler Booker is six-foot-four and weighs 315 pounds. He’s close to being a five-star prospect as he’s the No. 5 ranked offensive tackle in the class of 2022 and the No. 41 ranked prospect overall.

Tyler Booker announced his top five schools via his Twitter account:

Booker puts Georgia, Alabama, Oregon, Ohio State, and Florida in his top five schools. When will Tyler Booker make his commitment? We’ll update you if he announces a commitment date.

The IMG Academy star took LSU, Miami, Jackson State, Penn State, and Texas A&M out of his top schools.

The four-star offensive tackle is coming closer to making a decision. He announced his top five schools on his birthday. He may wait until after visits are permitted in June.

The University of Georgia has the No. 2 ranked recruiting class in the country at the moment. Kirby Smart has 12 commitments in the class of 2022, but none along the offensive line.

UGA offensive line coach Matt Luke is known as a good recruiter and will look for the Dawgs to add a few talented linemen with the class of 2022.

Ohio State makes the cut for another blue-chip offensive tackle

Ohio State makes the top five for tackle out of IMG Academy. Tyler Booker included the Buckeyes in his top five.

The Ohio State football program seems to be in the mix for a good portion of all the top-tier players in the nation. While the Buckeyes won’t be able to land them all, they’re off to a pretty good start in the 2022 class. And now, yet another top 100 player has put OSU in his top five.

Tyler Booker out of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Flordia has trimmed his list and included Ohio State in the mix. Booker is the No. 5 rated offensive tackle in the country and No. 41 overall according to 247Sports composite rankings.

The Buckeyes will have stiff competition as Booker named a trio of SEC schools as finalists in Alabama, Georgia, and Florida, as well as Oregon. Booker has said he will make official visits to all five schools in the coming months.

Ohio State already has a verbal commitment from Tegra Tshabola, out of Cincinnati. However, offensive line is always an area to have depth and Booker would be a huge get for the Buckeyes.
