SEC Tournament projections: Where does Georgia basketball stand?

SEC Tournament outlook using current conference standings.

After starting out hot, Georgia basketball is in a slump as the SEC Tournament grows closer. UGA has until March 13 to get back on track and secure a better seed.

The Bulldogs were 12-3 headed into a matchup with No. 5 Tennessee on Jan. 13, riding 10-game win streak. Since that six-point loss to the Vols, Georgia has gone 3-7 in its last 10 games, including a stretch of six-straight losses.

UGA is likely out of NCAA Tournament contention, but that doesn’t mean an SEC Tournament run is out of the cards. All 14 SEC teams will participate in the event.

The Bulldogs need to build off a 76-64 win over Vanderbilt on Wednesday to get a better slot in the conference tournament. Georgia currently sits 11th in the SEC, which projects UGA as an 11th seed. That would pit the Bulldogs against No. 14-seed Missouri (8-18, 0-13 SEC) in the first round.

The first four seeds of the tournament are given a bye through the first two rounds, while the top 10 seeds will get a first-round bye. If the Bulldogs’ win their matchup, they’ll take on the No. 6 seed in the second round. That’s only the beginning of a tough route against some of the best teams in the country.

Georgia football offensive guard Griffin Scroggs is hitting the transfer portal

The Georgia Bulldogs offensive lineman Griffin Scroggs has entered the NCAA transfer portal. Scroggs joins several other Dawgs in the portal.

Griffin Scroggs, who played guard for Grayson High School, was rated as a three-star recruit in the class of 2022. Scroggs never saw much playing time during his freshman season in Athens. He will have four years of eligibility remaining.
