Ra’Shaad Samples’ Texas connections will be to Oregon’s benefit

Ra’Shaad Samples knows Texas, which can only help in recruiting.

There are a lot of intriguing aspects of the Ra’Shaad Samples hire for the Oregon Ducks, not the least of which is his experience both at the college and NFL level, having worked closely with Sean McVay and Kenny Dillingham over the past couple of years.

However, one of the biggest things Samples brings to the table is his ability to recruit. During his time at SMU and Arizona State, Samples was widely considered one of the best recruiters on staff, and he has an incredible ability to build relationships with players that resonate throughout their recruitment.

Not only is his recruiting a plus, but his background acts as a bonus as well.

“Texas is important to me,” Samples said. “I’ve recruited to Texas all my life since I’ve been here.”

Growing up in Texas, Samples is familiar with the football hotbed, and his dad being the legendary Reginald Samples, head coach at Duncanville, helps his connections as well.

“Just the relationship with those high school coaches in Texas,” Samples said. “I’m gonna be that guy through and through no matter where I go. It’s a part of me, so I really don’t have to take it anywhere. It just goes where I go, and I’ve had success everywhere I’ve gone in Texas.”

Currently, the Ducks are recruiting a couple of people at Duncanville, with 5-star WR Dakorien Moore being the prized recruit. However, there are a ton of players in the state of Texas that I’m sure Dan Lanning would love to land.

With a new coach who has deep connections in the Lone Star State, and a unique ability to develop those relationships with players, the arrow should certainly be pointed up.

“It starts with having real relationships,” Samples said. “Knowing who to pick up the phone and call, knowing who knows what’s going on, knowing who the champions are in every city. And I think I got that down pat in Texas.”

Ducks land commitment from 4-star WR Isaiah Mozee

The Ducks landed the No. 2 player from the state of Missouri on Wednesday.

The Oregon Ducks added another crucial piece of the 2025 class on Wednesday afternoon, getting a verbal commitment from 4-star wide receiver Isaiah Mozee.

Mozee is rated by 247Sports as the No. 213 overall player in the 2025 class, and the No. 22 WR.  Standing at 6-foot-1, 185 pounds, Mozee brings some really great size to the Ducks’ WR room.

Mozee is also not the only WR that Oregon has committed in 2025. He will join 5-star WR Dallas Wilson, the No. 23 player in the class, and Cooper Perry, the No. 1 player from the state of Arizona.

At the moment, the Ducks have the No. 20 overall class in the 2025 cycle, and there is a belief that more commitments should be coming in short order.

4-star WR Cooper Perry to announce commitment this week; Ducks heavy favorite

There’s a good chance the Ducks add to their 2025 class later this week.

There seems to be a really good chance that the Oregon Ducks pick up a notable commitment this week in the class of 2025.

On Monday, 4-star wide receiver Cooper Perry announced on social media that he will officially make his commitment later this week on Wednesday afternoon. The announcement will take place at 2 p.m. PT on Wednesday afternoon.

Perry is rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 player from the state of Arizona, and the No. 27 WR is the 2025 class. The 247Sports Composite has him ranked as the No. 251 overall player in the nation as well.

Currently, there are four predictions in the 247Sports Crystal Ball for Perry to choose the Ducks, and Oregon is the heavy favorite in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine, as well, with a 95.1% chance to land him.

The Ducks currently have a commitment from 5-star WR Dallas Wilson in the class of 2025 as well.

5-star CB DJ Pickett to visit Oregon Ducks once again this month

5-star CB DJ Pickett will take another trip to Eugene later this month.

The Oregon Ducks seem to be in a really good spot when it comes to the recruitment of 5-star cornerback DJ Pickett.

The elite athlete from Tampa, Florida, has made several visits to Eugene before to meet with Dan Lanning and his staff, and he is expected to return once again this coming month, setting a visit for April 20th.

Ducks Wire first reported back at the end of January that Pickett was coming to campus for Oregon’s Junior Day, which took place shortly before the dead period began.

Pickett is rated by 247Sports as the No. 7 overall player in the 2025 class, and he is expected to take an official visit to Oregon on June 21st as well.

5-Star OT Josh Petty locks in official visit with the Oregon Ducks

Josh Petty, a 5-star offensive tackle in the class of 2025, has scheduled an official visit with the Oregon Ducks.

The college football recruiting season for the class of 2025 is starting to ramp up, and the Oregon Ducks are already on the trail. On Sunday, Josh Petty, a 5-star offensive tackle, locked in official visits with four schools, one of which is Oregon, according to a report from On3’s Steve Wiltfong.

At 6’5″ and 262 lbs., Petty is one of the most physically gifted tackles in his class, and he seems to love finishing his blocks with Jackson Powers-Johnson-style pancakes. Relative to his peers, 247 Sports ranks Petty as the No. 2 OT in 2025, and On3 ranks him at No. 4.

Along with Oregon, Petty announced official visits with the Clemson Tigers, Auburn Tigers, and the Stanford Cardinal. His visit with the Ducks is scheduled for June 14th.

The Ducks have had success recruiting tackles during Dan Lanning’s time at Oregon, bringing in 5-star Josh Conerly in the class of 2022 and landing Ajani Cornelius as one of the top transfers in the class of 2023. Last year, they were close to landing 5-star Brandon Baker, but he ended up committing to Texas.

Conerly and Cornelius were the Ducks starting OTs in 2023, and they are expected to start at tackle for the Ducks in the fall. After this season though, both will probably move on to the NFL, leaving openings at the tackle spot, which could make OT recruiting a focus in 2025.

Bo Jackson puts Oregon Ducks among final schools in recruitment

Bo Jackson has Oregon among the top schools in his recruitment.

The Oregon Ducks appear to be in the mix for one of the top running backs in the nation.

It’s not the Bo Jackson, the former Las Vegas Raider and Kansas City Royal who is widely regarded as one of the greatest athletes who ever lived. Instead, it is the four-star running back in the class of 2025.

Earlier this week, Jackson announced his top 12 schools, listing the Ducks alongside Ohio State, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee and Michigan among others. According to the 247Sports crystal ball, the Buckeyes are favored to land Jackson.

According to 247Sports, Jackson is the No. 77 overall player in the 2025 class and the No. 3 running back. He has not visited Oregon, but we could see that change in the coming months.

5-star OT Michael Fasusi puts Oregon among top schools

Oregon is in the running to land 5-star OT Michael Fasusi, the No. 11 player in 2025.

The Oregon Ducks are looking to continue their strong recruiting in the 2025 cycle, and it appears that one of the top available players is taking a hard look at what Dan Lanning has cooking in Eugene.

On Monday, 5-star offensive tackle Michael Fasusi announced his top seven schools, with the Ducks making the cut. Fasusi is also considering Georgia, Oklahoma, Texas A&M, USC, Texas, and Missouri.

Fasusi stands at 6-foot-4, 285 pounds, and is rated by the 247Sports Composite as the No. 11 overall player in the 2025 class, and the No. 2 OT. Fasusi is scheduled to visit Oregon later this month on April 17th.

Under Lanning, the Ducks’ have seen some very strong recruiting with the likes of A’lique Terry spearheading the offensive line unit, and Adrian Klemm before him. We will now see if Oregon can land another big fish at the position.

4-star ATH Madden Williams to visit Oregon this summer ahead of commitment

2026 ATH Madden Williams expected to visit Oregon this summer.

The Oregon Ducks continue to fill their spring and summer recruiting schedule, lining up visits with highly rated players across the country.

One of those is 2026 athlete Madden Williams from St. John Bosco in California. Williams is a four-star athlete per On3, which lists him as the No. 18 athlete and No. 234 overall player in the class.

Williams is expected to take a visit to see Dan Lanning, Junior Adams and the Ducks this summer, though a date hasn’t been set yet.

“I have a great relationship with coach (Junior) Adams going back to my freshman year,” Williams told 247Sports this past week. “I love the family bond and atmosphere at Oregon and it’s an NFL factory right now. They’re doing a great job developing receivers and Troy Franklin will be getting drafted this year and that’s just the beginning.”

It’s no surprise to hear Oregon’s success in getting players to the next level is resonating with recruits, and that’s something we will likely continue to see going forward as well.

4-star Vyctorius Miller decommits from Oregon Ducks

The Oregon Ducks’ 2024 class is down to just one single player.

Vyctorius Miller, a four-star recruit in the Oregon Ducks’ 2024 men’s basketball recruiting class, has been released from his letter of intent with Oregon and has reopened his recruitment. This news comes less than a week after Oregon’s loss to Creighton in the round of 32 of the NCAA Tournament.

Miller is a 6-foot-5 shooting guard from Arizona, where he attended the same high school as Oregon freshman Mookie Cook. With star guard Jermaine Couisnard moving on from college ball, the loss of Miller is a big one for the Ducks.

Before Miller’s decommitment, Oregon’s 2024 recruiting class was already much weaker than Dana Altman is used to. Now, Ibrahima Traore, a 3-star center is the Ducks only remaining commit in this year’s class.

To bolster the guard position, talent from the transfer portal is probably the Ducks’ best bet, since most high-level high school players are already locked up. Altman has a history of bringing in great transfers, so look out for whoever Oregon brings in.

It’s unclear where Miller will end up next season to start his college career, but before committing to Oregon, he took official visits with LSU, USC, and Cal. Enrolling at Arizona or Arizona State, his local schools, is also a possibility.

4-star WR Adrian Wilson decommits from Oregon in 2025 class

The Oregon Ducks are reportedly losing 4-star WR Adrian Wilson in the class of 2025 after his decommitment.

One of the members of the Oregon Ducks’ 2025 recruiting class is choosing to open up his options going forward, opting to decommit from the Ducks.

According to On3’s Hayes Fawcett, 4-star wide receiver Adrian Wilson will be opening up his recruitment going forward. Wilson had been committed to Oregon since July of last year.

Standing at 6-foot-0, 175 pounds, Wilson was rated by the 247Sports composite as the No. 116 overall player in the 2025 class, and the No. 15 WR. He was predicted to commit to TCU before choosing to join Dan Lanning and Junior Adams a year ago. We will see which schools he prioritizes going forward, and if the Ducks work to try and get him back in the fold as well.

Wilson was not the only WR commit in Oregon’s class, with 5-star WR Dallas Wilson still acting as the top-ranked commitment in the cycle for the Ducks. Wilson stands at 6-foot-3, 180 pounds, and is rated by the 247Sports composite as the No. 22 player in the nation, and the No. 5 WR.

The Ducks also have commitments from QB Akili Smith Jr. and IOL Chavez Thompson on the offensive side of the ball in 2025.
