Utah 5-star tight end earns Ohio State football offer

The Buckeyes are going after the 5-star tight end

Ohio State football is seeing its tight end recruiting trending in the right direction over the last few week.

Shortly before the Scarlet and Gray game kickoff, the Buckeyes received a commitment from Oklahoma tight end Nate Roberts. The 2025 prospect was the top player at the position on the Ohio State recruiting board.

The Buckeyes now turned their focus on the 2026 class, as on Sunday they offered Utah’s [autotag]Brock Harris[/autotag]. The 6-foot, 6-inch and 238-pound high school junior is one of the best players in the country regardless of position. The 247Sports Composite Rankings have Harris as the No. 21 overall prospect and 2nd at his position, making him a 5-star.

Coming off the success of Cade Stover, it is looking like Ohio State is becoming a much more appealing destination for tight ends.

BOOM x 2: Ohio State lands a second commit during spring game

A double BOOM! for the Buckeyes

It has become very common for Ohio State football to get on a commitment hot streak in recruiting.

It is happening again after the Buckeyes grabbed four verbals during the last weekend of March, they added two more on the Scarlet and Gray game festivities. First it was tight end Nate Roberts, then safety [autotag]Cody Haddad[/autotag] followed suit.

The Ohio safety, who stands 6-foot, 1-inch and weighs 175-pounds, was previously committed to Wisconsin until just about two weeks ago when he decommitted. Haddad made his decision during the game, while on the sidelines.

The newest Buckeye commit is a solid player, ranked as the No. 519 overall prospect and 30th athlete according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

The Ohio State 2025 class now stands at thirteen total commits, and has now taken over the No. 1 spot in the 247Sports Composite team rankings.

Ohio State 2025 linebacker target discusses top choices before next weeks commitment

The Buckeyes will get one of the last shots to impress the big-time linebacker. #GoBucks

Ohio State football is off to a fantastic start to its 2025 recruiting class with eight current commitments.

That number will grow larger, and in fact could as early as next week, as Florida linebacker, [autotag]Tarvos Alford[/autotag], is set to make his commitment on March 30 with the Buckeyes as one of his finalists.

The 6-foot, 2-inch, 210-pound ‘backer broke down his final suitors to 247Sports Brian Dohn (subscription required) and gave a glowing review of the Ohio State program. “Being taught by one of the best to do it at Ohio State would be great,” as Alford spoke very highly of new linebackers coach James Laurinaitis.

Alford is the nations No. 63 prospect overall and 8th best linebacker according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. The Buckeyes will host him on campus this weekend with his father as Dohn mentioned, but that won’t be his last visit before his verbal. Alford will also take the short trip to see Florida State before his decision.

Ohio State offers its first quarterback with Chip Kelly as offensive coordinator

The Buckeyes make their first QB offer with Kelly as OC

It was a big question when Ohio State football hired [autotag]Chip Kelly[/autotag] as its offensive coordinator; how well would he recruit?

His former school, UCLA, ranked as the No. 89 overall class in 2024, No. 37 in 2023, and No. 61 in 2022 according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. Safe to say, those aren’t up to Buckeye standards.

Kelly had issues in Los Angeles, but is looking to fix those in Columbus. As the offensive coordinator, along with head coach Ryan Day, they offered their first quarterback together, 2026 Floridian, [autotag]Dia Bell[/autotag].

The 6-foot, 2-inch, 195-pounder isn’t currently ranked by any major service, but that’s the norm for many in his class. However, looking at his offer list which consists of Florida, LSU, Penn State, Texas and others, Bell should be on many lists going forward.

It will be very interesting to track how involved Kelly is in recruiting for Ohio State, but it’s safe to say he’s right in the mix with Bell’s recruitment.

Ohio State football to host 2025 Illinois wide receiver later this month

The Buckeyes won’t give up in the Land of Lincoln

The list of recruiting visitors continues to grow by the day for the Ohio State football program, and on Sunday you can add another name.

Illinois wide receiver [autotag]Talyn Taylor[/autotag] has set up four visits this spring, with Columbus one of the destinations. The 6-foot and 165-pound pass catcher is ranked as the No. 13 receiver and 110th overall prospect by the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Taylor will start his spring school tours by stopping at Georgia, then Ohio State, followed by Notre Dame and Michigan. Unfortunately, the Buckeyes have not had the best recruiting luck when it comes to prospects from Illinois, as they have missed Justin Scott, Marquise Lightfoot and Chris Burgess Jr. in the last few cycles.

Ohio State will look to change that with Taylor, as they look to impress the slot receiver during his visit.

Ohio State football offers 2025 Indiana defensive end while on a visit

The Buckeyes are the latest school to offer the Indianapolis star

The spring visits to Columbus for high school recruits has begun, and for one Ohio State target, it was a trip worth making.

Indianapolis 2025 defensive end, [autotag]Damien Shanklin[/autotag], took a visit to see the Buckeyes practicing today and while he was on his visit got an offer from the coaching staff. The 6-foot, 4-inch, 230-pound edge rusher has scheduled some official visits for this summer, but not currently a return visit to Ohio State.

After what transpired today, you would have to expect that the nation’s No. 108 overall player and 10th edge rusher according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings will be back to Columbus sometime later in this cycle.

Currently the Buckeyes have Zahir Mathis committed at the position, and are most likely added a few more prospects at defensive end for the 2025 cycle.

Ohio State football offers 2025 Maryland offensive tackle

An offer goes out to an underrated offensive tackle from Maryland

In the 2025 class, Ohio State football is looking to add multiple offensive lineman like it does with virtually every cycle.

Already in the fold is Ohioan Carter Lowe, who is regarded as one of the best players at his position in the country. Although Maryland’s [autotag]Joshua Blackston[/autotag] doesn’t have the same recruiting pedigree as Lowe, he was still offered a scholarship by the Buckeye staff on Wednesday morning.

The 6-foot, 5-inch, 275-pound tackle isn’t currently ranked by any of the major services, but the Ohio State coaching staff saw enough to pull the trigger on a scholarship. This is Blackston’s eleventh reported offer, as the Buckeyes joined Virginia Tech, Boston College, Maryland and others.

It may seem odd, considering Blackston not being ranked and also having an unimpressive offer list, but there have been many instances where Ohio State is the first major school to go after a prospect and many others follow.

Ohio State football makes trimmed down list for 2025 Florida offensive lineman

Ohio State football is one of a dozen schools that 2025 Florida offensive lineman Kaden Strayhorn has narrowed down his list to.

Ohio State football typically goes to Florida each recruiting cycle and returns North with more than a few great prospects.

Last cycle it was wide receiver Jeremiah Smith and Leroy Roker, and in the 2025 class there’s already a commitment from wide receiver Jayvan Boggs. The Buckeyes are looking to bring a few others to Columbus and one of them is offensive lineman [autotag]Kaden Strayhorn[/autotag].

The 6-foot, 3-inch and 285-pound IMG Academy prospect narrowed his list on Saturday to 12 teams. It may seem like a lot for the No. 20 interior offensive lineman and 380th overall player according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, but it’s still a good sign for the Buckeyes.

Strayhorn’s ranking may seem like it’s a bit low considering his offer list, so expect him to rise in the rankings once his senior season begins.

Ohio State football offers 2025 4-star running back from Mississippi

The Buckeyes offer one of the best running back in the 2025 class

There is going to be a need for running backs for Ohio State football next season, and it seems like head coach Ryan Day knows it.

TreVeyon Henderson will exhaust his eligibility, while Quinshon Judkins should be off to the NFL as well as an early entry player. Lost both will take a hit off of the Buckeyes depth, so an offer out to Mississippi’s [autotag]Akylin Dear[/autotag] makes perfect sense.

The 6-foot, 1-inch and 200-pound running back is one of the best in the country, ranking as the No. 4 player at his position and 68th overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Ohio State currently does not have a running back commit in Dear’s class.

Ohio State will host one of the nations elite wide receivers this spring

The Buckeyes could be getting another elite Florida receiver

Ohio State football does not have a lack of talent at the wide receiver position, and that likely won’t change in the immediate future.

Already in the 2025 class the Buckeyes have a commitment from Jayvan Boggs, and more elite prospects will join him. One of those potential players is Florida’s [autotag]Jaime Ffrench[/autotag], a 6-foot, 1-inch and 185-pound star.

Ffrench has set up a few spring visits, with Columbus being one of them. He will head up North at the end of March, his only visit above the Mason-Dixon Line. The receiver is one of the best players in the country, ranking as the No. 3 player at his position and 12th overall according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Previously an Alabama commit, Ffrench reopened the process when Nick Saban announced his retirement. It would be hard to rule out Ohio State, especially considering how well they have recruited his position over the last few years.
