Watch Michigan State football offensive tackle Stanton Ramil talk to media about Maryland win

Stanton Ramil talked about the Maryland win, his injury recovery, and more on Tuesday

Last year, Michigan State football offensive lineman Stanton Ramil was injured. This year, as a redshirt freshman, he has the second most snaps of any freshman on the team, playing an important role at left tackle.

On Tuesday, Ramil got to talk to the media about the Maryland win and about his own journey this past year. He had some very interesting comments when asked if he considered transferring, and said that he didn’t really seriously consider transferring because he liked the idea of going through his whole college experience with his friends. He also said that Jonathan Smith was an appealing coach to him because he had the lowest transfer rate in the FBS.

You can watch Ramil’s interview below:

Three key Spartans back in action to start fall camp

Three key Spartans are back from injury, working with the team on day one of camp:

Michigan State football has opened Fall camp, preparing for the start of the 2024 football season, the first in the Jonathan Smith era. An encouraging sign for the Spartans, three former 4-stars and players at key positions are back in action, after suffering season ending injuries a year ago.

Offensive linemen Stanton Ramil and Cole Dellinger, along with defensive tackle Alex VanSumeren are all back and preparing for potential roles in 2024.

Michigan State football OT Stanton Ramil recovering from knee surgery

Michigan State football OT Stanton Ramil recovering from knee surgery

In some very unfortunate news this week, Michigan State football true freshman offensive tackle Stanton Ramil announced that he is recovering from knee surgery currently following a knee injury.

Ramil is a former 4-star recruit who enrolled at MSU in January and was the No. 4 highest ranked recruit in this class. While this is a horrible bit of news, it shouldn’t derail the Spartans’ plans in the trenches too much as MSU is returning a group of veterans on the offensive line, but it will impact their depth and Ramil’s development, obviously.

Top five true freshman offensive tackles in the Big Ten for 2023

It is always fun to look at recruiting rankings. The recruiting landscape receives more coverage every year and is a very important aspect of building a program, but it is important to remember these players and prospects are not defined by these rankings.

I was diving into the most recent class and trying to figure out which future Buckeye is going to shine brightest and fastest but noticed that the Big Ten as a whole was pretty interesting recruiting-wise this cycle. We already dove into the quarterback position, running back position, wide receiver position, and tight end position and now we dive into the offensive tackles.

One of the top members of Michigan State football’s 2023 recruiting class made his pledge to join the Spartans official on Wednesday when 4-star offensive tackle Stanton Ramil signed his national letter of intent during the early signing period.

Ramil fits the profile of tackles that Mel Tucker has liked to recruit since arriving at MSU, standing at 6’7″ and 310-pounds. Ramil is the No. 19 ranked offensive tackle in his class and the No. 196 ranked player overall by 247Sports.

Michigan State football lands commitment from 4-star OT Stanton Ramil

Michigan State has landed its 10th 4-star recruit in the 2023 recruiting class!

Michigan State officially landed its 10th four-star recruit in the 2023 recruiting cycle. Four-star offensive tackle Stanton Ramil made the decision to commit to MSU.

The Spartans defeated Tennessee and Penn State, among others, to earn the commitment of Ramil, who projects to be a left tackle at the next level.

Ramil is from Alabaster, Alabama, and plays for Thompson High School, a high school football powerhouse in the state of Alabama.

Ramil is a four-star prospect who ranks No. 197 overall in the 2023 class. He is MSU’s third highest-rated commit this cycle. He is the highest-rated offensive line recruit in the Mel Tucker and Chris Kapilovic era at MSU.

Top 5 in-state prospects who are uncommitted

The state of Alabama’s crop of talent in the class of 2023 is elite. Let’s take a look at the top five prospects who have yet to commit.

The 2023 recruiting cycle has provided plenty of storylines so far in July and August appears like it will be much of the same.

The in-state crop for the class of 2023 is as good a group as I can remember and several have already made their college decisions but there are still plenty left uncommitted.

In fact, there are still two five-star prospects from the state of Alabama that have yet to decide on their college futures in Carver High School teammates James Smith and [autotag]Qua Russaw[/autotag].

Considering how much talent remains available within the state, I thought we could quickly go over the top five remaining prospects who are currently not committed to a university.

Let’s get right to it!

5 offensive line recruits Michigan State football fans should monitor

5 offensive line recruits Michigan State is heavily recruiting, and looking to make a part of the 2023 recruiting class

As July comes to an end, a big portion of the 2023 recruiting cycle has started to wind down with it. Many recruits are making their commitments and making choices on where they would like to play college football.

Michigan State offensive line coach Chris Kapilovic has put a lot of time on the recruiting trail, and he is hoping that it will pay off.

The Spartans offensive line coach has already put together a nice offensive line class together with 4-stars Clay Wedin and Cole Dellinger to pair with 3-star Johnathan Slack.

Dellinger and Slack project to play on the interior at either guard or center, while Wedin is more of a swing guy who could play inside or outside. It is apparent that Kapilovic will need to add a couple of pure tackles to the mix.

Lucky for him, the Spartans are in the trenches with several top targets. Take a look at who they are:

Alabama 4-star OT Stanton Ramil includes Michigan State in top 8

Michigan State is one of eight schools still in the running for an elite offensive tackle prospect in the 2023 class

Michigan State is one of eight schools still in the running for an elite offensive tackle prospect in the 2023 class.

Stanton Ramil of Alabaster, Ala. announced on Tuesday that he is cutting the list of schools he’s considering to eight, and that includes the Spartans. Ramil’s list of top eight schools featured Michigan State, Tennessee, Auburn, Clemson, Pitt, North Carolina, Penn State and Mississippi State.

Ramil is listed as a four-star prospect on 247Sports, and ranked as the No. 20 offensive tackle in their composite rankings. He’s also listed as the No. 193 overall player and No. 15 player from Alabama.

Ramil is currently projected to end up at the lone in-state program in his top eight — Auburn — according to one crystal ball prediction from March. That, of course, could change with Ramil slated to take an official visit to Michigan State later this month.
