Former Michigan State football OL Keyshawn Blackstock commits to Arkansas via transfer portal

Keyshawn Blackstock commits to Arkansas via transfer portal

Michigan State football was able to land one of the top JUCO transfers in the country this offseason when Keyshawn Blackstock committed to the Spartans. Unfortunately, that relationship didn’t pan out, as Blackstock was never able to grab the starting job and instead decided to transfer again.

Now, Blackstock will try again at Arkansas, where he officially committed on Monday.

Sam Pittman lands transfer offensive lineman day after confirmed return in 2024

Less than a day after it was confirmed that Sam Pittman will be returning, the Hogs received some much-needed good news at position of need.

Nearly 24 hours after Arkansas athletic director [autotag]Hunter Yurachek[/autotag] confirming [autotag]Sam Pittman[/autotag]’s return as head coach next season, the first domino has fallen.

Michigan State transfer offensive lineman [autotag]Keyshawn Blackstock[/autotag], announced his commitment to the Razorbacks on Monday afternoon. Blackstock is the first transfer addition of what will likely be an extremely busy offseason.

Blackstock, a 6-5, 300-pound offensive tackle entered the transfer portal back in late October and was a hot commodity, as he held offers from Ole Miss, Penn State, NC State, Nebraska, Virginia Tech and others. He was the No. 1 rated JUCO lineman prospect in the 2023 class, and committed to Michigan State following a two-year stint at Kansas’ Coffeyville Community College.

As mentioned previously, the timing of Blackstock’s announcement comes less than a day after Pittman’s job security for next year was confirmed. This could be the first of many dominos to fall for Arkansas recruiting in the coming weeks – both in the portal and high school ranks.

For now, Blackstock fits a huge need on the offensive line, which has been the bane of this Razorback team throughout the entire season. It’s the first step of many needed to get that unit back up to a competitive and competent level.

A big offseason addition this year for Michigan State football was Keyshawn Blackstock, an offensive lineman transfer from the JUCO league. Blackstock will now enter the transfer portal after failing to beat out Spencer Brown for the starting role.

Blackstock was the No. 1 rated interior lineman transfer this summer and the No. 6 overall JUCO transfer in last year’s class. Blackstock played in four games for the Spartans but was listed as ‘Out’ in every game since Week 5’s match-up against Iowa.

Oklahoma Sooners make top 5 for JUCO OL target Keyshawn Blackstock

Oklahoma Sooners made the top five for the No. 1 JUCO interior offensive lineman Keyshawn Blackstock out of Coffeyville Community College. From @john9williams

The Oklahoma Sooners will have questions at three of their starting offensive line spots heading into 2023. The departures of [autotag]Anton Harrison[/autotag], [autotag]Wanya Morris[/autotag], and [autotag]Chris Murray[/autotag] have left opportunities for new starters that will be determined in spring and fall camps.

Though the Oklahoma Sooners have internal options, it would serve them well to attack the transfer portal and junior college ranks to create more competition.

And that’s where they stand with JUCO interior offensive line target [autotag]Keyshawn Blackstock[/autotag]. Blackstock, who played for Coffeyville Community College in 2022, released his top five Wednesday evening and included the Oklahoma Sooners.

Oklahoma is joined by premier programs from across the country, like Oregon, Michigan State, Tennessee, and USC.

Blackstone is considered a four-star prospect in the 2023 JUCO recruiting class and the No. 1 JUCO interior offensive line target in the cycle, according to 247Sports. Blackstock is 6-foot-5 and weighs 315 pounds. He was a part of an offense that averaged 27 points per game and 137.1 rushing yards per game and went 8-3 in 2022.

Oklahoma has done a good job in recent years of adding offensive line talent in a variety of ways. Three starters on the 2022 offensive line came via the transfer portal Morris, Murray, and McKade Mettauer. Could the Oklahoma Sooners go the junior college route to find a starter at guard for their 2023 squad?

Time will tell, but they’re in a favorable position with Keyshawn Blackstock. Bill Bedenbaugh has quite the track record of helping offensive linemen get into the NFL and find success.

Top-ranked JUCO IOL keeps Oregon among final 5 schools

The Ducks are still in the mix for Keyshawn Blackstock, the No. 1 ranked JUCO IOL in the 2023 class.

We know that offensive line is a big area of need for the Oregon Ducks this offseason, and it appears that they are working hard to fill that need.

Keyshawn Blackstock, the No. 1 rated JUCO IOL and No. 3 overall JUCO player in the nation, recently listed his top 5 schools, including the Oregon Ducks among them. It appears that the Ducks are in a great position to add Blackstock to the 2023 recruiting class, given a 55.4% chance of landing him according to On3.

The Ducks already have a commitment from 4-star JUCO lineman George Silva, who is rated by 247Sports as the No. 1 JUCO OT in the class. We will see in the coming weeks or months if Klemm is able to land another big body on the offensive line.

Keyshawn Blackstock’s Recruiting Profile

MSU football recruiting is fine: Ten recruits who could be added to the 2023 recruiting class

There are a lot of concerns with MSU’s 2023 recruiting class; it’s time for a deep breath. Here are ten recruits that MSU could add to their class before signing day:

There has been a lot of chatter amongst the social media sphere around the state of MSU’s 2023 recruiting class following the departures of Colton Hood and Johnathan Slack. While decommitments are never fun, I am here to do my best Aaron Rodgers impression for the Spartan fan base.

R-E-A-L-A-X.

While being at only 10 commitments is not something the staff wanted to be at, there is still a week until signing day and A LOT is going on behind the scenes.

By the conclusion of the early signing period, I expect Michigan State to get to at least 15 commitments/signees, at a bare minimum.

So the Michigan State fanbase needs to take one collective deep breathe, and strap in for the recruiting ride they are about to go on.

Here are ten prospects Michigan State is firmly in the mix for and could become part of the class:
