It is always fun to look at recruiting rankings. The recruiting landscape receives more coverage every year because recruiting is a very important aspect of building a program. Still, it is important to remember these players and prospects are not defined by these rankings.

I was diving into the most recent class and trying to figure out which future Buckeye is going to shine brightest and fastest but noticed the Big Ten as a whole was pretty interesting recruiting-wise this cycle. We already dived into the quarterbacksrunning backswide receiverstight ends, offensive tackles, interior offensive linemen and edge rushers. Now, we dive into the top defensive tackles.

Michigan State has landed a commitment from a top-150 ranked 4-star DL in the 2023 recruiting class

Another commitment has sprung from the big recruiting weekend known as ‘The Spartan Odyssey’ that brought double-digit four-stars and a couple of key transfer targets to campus. Depaepe was identified as a “must-have” prospect by new Pass Rush Specialist coach Brandon Jordan, and in one weekend of visiting, Jordan made it happen.

Depaepe is a 6-foot-5, 245-pound defensive lineman from Bettendorf, Iowa. He currently ranks as a 4-star prospect that is the No. 131 overall player in the 2023 class according to the 247Sports composite rankings.

Michigan State has joined the battle for this lengthy defensive end from Bettendorf, Iowa. 2023 strong-side defensive end Andrew Depaepe announced that he received an offer from Michigan State Friday on Twitter.

Depaepe, who is 6-foot-6 and 230 pounds, attends Pleasant Valley High School in Riverdale, Iowa. He is currently unranked on 247sports, but expect that to change as more schools continue to offer this talented defensive end.

Depaepe has also been offered Arizona State, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas State, and Washington in this month alone.

In his highlight reel, he shows off his agility off the edge and ability to maneuver around the offensive line to make the tackle or sack. He also has great size as he is taller that some of offensive lineman he plays against.

Fun fact: Pleasant Valley’s nickname is the Spartans, so Depaepe can stay a Spartan if he commits to Michigan State.
