Was Ohio State QB C.J. Stoud slighted by his Heisman vote placement?

Did C.J. deserve to finish third?

First, off I want to make it clear that the voters got the winner correct. USC’s [autotag]Caleb Williams[/autotag] was the best, most exciting player in all of college football this season. No issues with that at all but at first glance, it was where Ohio State’s [autotag]C.J. Stroud[/autotag] finished that made me think.

Which led to me to dive a bit deeper to see if the voters got the positioning of Stroud wrong. The junior finished third, behind Williams and TCU’s [autotag]Max Duggan[/autotag]. Let’s look at the stats and see if the voters got this one correct between Stroud and Duggan.

Breaking: Star Ohio State receiver, Jaxon Smith-Njigba’s status known for College Football Playoff and beyond

We wish him the best! #GoBucks

After a 2021 season in which [autotag]Jaxson Smith-Njigba[/autotag] was all world, many expected the same to happen during his junior year.

Unfortunately, Smith-Njigba injured his hamstring in the season-opening win against [autotag]Notre Dame[/autotag]. Though he tried battling through the injury, he was a shell of his former self and was eventually shut down after the Iowa game.

Many hoped the star receiver would try to play again this year, despite missing the season finale, in the [autotag]College Football Playoff[/autotag]. Once again, Smith-Njigba made a decision for his future. On Monday, he announced he will not play in the Buckeyes’ national semifinal due to the injury and will instead prepare for the NFL draft.

You can’t blame him for making this decision. The lifespan of an NFL player is short. We wish him the best at the next level and will always have his dominant performance in last year’s Rose Bowl.

Ryan Day on College GameDay: ‘We can be a dangerous team in the playoffs’

Very dangerous! #GoBucks

The Buckeyes got an early holiday gift last night, in the form of a Utah win over USC in the Pac-12 Championship game. It was the crack in the proverbial door for [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] to return to the College Football Playoff. (Side note, this was the happiest I have been in a long time seeing a team other than Ohio State get a victory).

Ohio State head coach [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] joined ESPN’s College GameDay to discuss the loss to our rivals, along with the potential for what could happen when the CFP committee makes their final judgment tomorrow night. Day believes that “we can be a dangerous team in the playoffs” as he told Pat McAfee.

Another interesting tidbit from Day’s answer was about playing loose, mentioning that “moving forward we are going to play loose, we’re going to be aggressive, and we’re going to go at people. There can’t be moving forward, anybody in our program that presses at all, feels pressure. We’re just going to roll.”

Day was also asked by Desmond Howard how things changed so drastically from the team and program thinking the season was over after the demoralizing loss to its arch-rival, to now, the opportunity in front of them.

“When you go through a few days where you think that maybe your whole season’s gone, and all of a sudden you start to build hope and then you start to see the opportunity where everything’s right out in front of you, it’s almost like a second lease on life,” Day told GameDay. “So we’re very excited. There’s been a whole swing in the whole program here in the last 24 hours.

“The guys were sending text messages last night. Really, really excited. So certainly there’s been a big swing in just the whole program. And so there’s a lot of excitement right now. And you get an opportunity to go play in this thing. You’re two games away from a national championship after feeling like a few days ago like your whole season was over.”

Personally, I love this but wondering where it was last week. The pressure might have gotten to the Buckeyes, but the change of attitude can only help going forward.

Brian Hartline’s message to Ohio State fans should calm their worries

Phew! #GoBucks

As many know, Ohio State has one of the best up-and-coming coaches in [autotag]Brian Hartline[/autotag]. The former Buckeye and current wide receivers coach is one of the best recruiters in the country among position coaches. His name was bound to come up as other teams look to fill some of their open positions, but Hartline went to Twitter on Thursday afternoon to quell rumors.

After being linked to an open head coaching position at Cincinnati, which was created when another former Buckeye, [autotag]Luke Fickell[/autotag], took the Wisconsin position, many wondered if Hartline was at the top of their list. It seems that is not the case.

There is always the potential of someone changing their mind, but it looks like Hartline doesn’t intend to leave Columbus this offseason. A huge sigh of relief has just come from close to the office of [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag].

Highlights from the last five games between Texas and Oklahoma State

It’s usually a close battle when Texas and Oklahoma State meet in football.

The Oklahoma State Cowboys and Texas Longhorns have had a number of close matchups over the years. Saturday’s game figures to have instant classic potential with both teams in the hunt for a Big 12 championship berth.

Since the beginning of his tenure in Stillwater, Mike Gundy has given the Longhorns tough battles. As early as 2004 and 2005, Gundy’s Cowboys took sizable leads into halftime before Mack Brown’s teams stormed back.

Steve Sarkisian is looking for his first win over Oklahoma State since taking over in Austin. Texas lost the matchup 32-24 last season, signaling the beginning of a long first season for the new Texas head coach.

The two teams meet for the second consecutive season while ranked in the Top 25 on Saturday. The result of the game could send both programs in different directions for the remainder of the season.

Let’s look at the last five matchups in the series.

2023 NFL draft: Ohio State’s top prospects to watch

Check out the top prospects eligible for the 2023 NFL draft from the Ohio State Buckeyes

College football is right around the corner, and this season is sure to reveal plenty of talented prospects as they prepare for the next level.

Here are the top prospects from Ohio State who are eligible for the 2023 NFL draft:

Ohio State commit trying to help flip Notre Dame’s top 2023 verbal

Could other teams just leave him alone???

As if Notre Dame commit [autotag]Keon Keeley[/autotag] visiting Alabama recently didn’t hurt, now it is Ohio State that is coming after the Irish commit. This is a bit different, as it isn’t the Ohio State staff publicly going after Keeley, it’s one of their commits, Ohio offensive lineman Luke Montgomery.

The Buckeye commit has his eye on helping their coaching staff flip Keeley, after this tweet it’s obvious when he is trying to do it. During the season opener between the two Midwest powers, when many eyes will be on this game as it holds not just regional significance, but national as well.

It’s not something that any of us like to see, but it’s part of having elite recruits in a class. Unfortunately, [autotag] Marcus Freeman[/autotag] having so much success on the recruiting trail is going to bring these kind of flip attempts. Hopefully the Irish are able to stave off both Alabama and Ohio State and keep Keeley in their 2023 class.

Former Georgia commit, 4-star CB makes commitment

Kayin Lee decommitted from the Bulldogs after former UGA defensive backs coach Jahmile Addae left for the same position at Miami

Talented four-star cornerback recruit Kayin Lee has committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes. Lee was previously committed to Georgia, but backed off his commitment in Feb. 2022.

Kayin Lee, who is a member of the class of 2023, decommitted from the Bulldogs after former Georgia defensive backs coach Jahmile Addae left for the same position at Miami. Fran Brown is the new Georgia defensive back coach and has earned some big wins on the recruiting trail, but was unable to keep Kayin Lee.

Lee is a rising senior on a top notch football team at Cedar Grove High School in Ellenwood, Georgia. Cedar Grove won the 3A state championship in 2021. Cedar Grove has two players, Christen Miller and Carlton Madden, who signed as part of the Bulldogs’ class of 2022.

Lee is ranked as the No. 13 recruit in Georgia and the No. 18 corner in the country. The Ohio State commit is the country’s No. 145 overall recruit in the class of 2023.

The 5-foot-11, 185-pound cornerback has scholarship offers from some of the best schools in the country like Auburn, USC, Florida, Oregon, Ohio State, Arkansas and more.

The four-star cornerback announced his commitment to Ohio State football via his Twitter account:

Early 2022 Big 12 football record predictions for each team

Baylor will attempt to defend its Big 12 title.

Prior to the 2021 season, Oklahoma was the prohibitive favorite to win the national championship. Spencer Rattler was all but penciled in as the first overall pick in the NFL draft.

Fast forward one offseason. Baylor wins the Big 12 championship, Lincoln Riley and Caleb Williams leave for USC, and Rattler is now the starting quarterback for the South Carolina Gamecocks.

Oklahoma State seemingly blew its best chance at a Big 12 title appearance in 2020. The Cowboys bounced back, defeating Oklahoma, Baylor, and Texas to make their first trip to Arlington’s conference title game.

This season, Baylor will attempt to defend its title against the Cowboys and Sooners, while Texas and Kansas State will attempt to enter the mix. Here are my early Big 12 record predictions for 2022.
