Know your foe, Wisconsin: Which Badgers could give Ohio State problems

Which Badgers are you concerned about? #GoBucks

When everyone looked at this season’s schedule, many believed this weekend’s contest between [autotag]Ohio State football[/autotag] and Wisconsin would have been a top-25 matchup.

That isn’t the case. The Badgers have been tripped up twice already, but it still is a very intriguing game. Former Buckeye [autotag]Luke Fickell[/autotag] inherited a Wisconsin program that didn’t quite fit his style of play, and it has shown during his first season.

Their air raid offense just does not have the personnel to run it at the moment, but that doesn’t mean Wisconsin isn’t a dangerous team. Find out below which Badgers could give Ohio State some problems on Saturday evening.

The day after: Lasting thoughts on Ohio State football’s win over Purdue

What still sticks out in your head Buckeye fans? #GoBucks

It wasn’t the biggest win in [autotag]Ohio State footbal[/autotag]l history, but it’s win on the road against Purdue did carry some significance.

It somewhat exorcized some West Lafayette demons, kept the Buckeyes undefeated and was a great tune up ahead of their tilt at home against Penn State. Both major pregame shows will be in attendance, so you know it’s a big game.

We wait six days every week for Buckeye football to return on Saturday during the season, so there is always plenty of time to think about what transpired the previous game. Here are my day after thoughts following Ohio State football’s impressive road 41-7 win against Purdue.

Which Ohio State players earned their Buckeye leaves against Western Kentucky

Which Buckeyes deserve their helmet stickers after their performance against Western Kentucky? #GoBucks

When you score 63 points as [autotag]Ohio State football[/autotag] did against Western Kentucky, there is a lot to like.

Both sides of the ball played extremely well as the Buckeyes improved to 3-0. They continue to improve game over game, like many of their predecessors.

A top-10 matchup in South Bend against Notre Dame looms next weekend, but let’s not worry about that right now. Especially since there were a lot of very good performances which would earn them Buckeyes leaves.

Here are the players I believe we will see next weekend with a whole lot more stickers on their helmets.

ESPN’s College GameDay picks Ohio State at Indiana and more

Who do you having winning the big game this weekend Buckeye fans? #GoBucks

Although ESPN’s [autotag]College GameDay[/autotag] was live last week, it was a bit watered down due to having just a few games on the Week 0 slate.

This week feels much more like a college football weekend, [autotag]Ohio State football[/autotag] back on our screens, a full slate of games that started on Thursday night that carried over on Friday, the natural Saturday, along with a few games on Sunday and Monday as well.

The GameDay crew live from Charlotte, North Carolina, welcomed back [autotag]Lee Corso[/autotag], who missed week 0, and he made picks for this weeks top games along with [autotag]Desmond Howard[/autotag], [autotag]Pat McAfee[/autotag] and [autotag]Kirk Herbstreit[/autotag]. Country music star [autotag]Darius Rucker[/autotag] joined the panel as a guest picker.

Find out below which teams they picked to win this week including Ohio State.

Thoughts following Ohio State’s Scarlet and Gray spring game

Plenty of takeaways from Ohio State’s spring game. What stood out to you the most? #GoBucks

The annual Scarlet and Gray game went to [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag]’s defense, 40-31. The modified scoring system showed the defense has made strides while the offense still has plenty of work to do.

It was only a spring game, but head coach [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] must like the progress of some aspects of his football team. Others not nearly as much.

It is hard to make judgements on what we saw Saturday, even though there were times when it looked like real football, I’ll try to do that. Here are my thoughts following the conclusion of Ohio State’s spring practices ending with the LiFEsports Spring Game.

This Ohio State Football player named as one ‘who may have benefited’ from another year

He will be missed but maybe should have stayed another year #GoBucks

When [autotag]Ohio State Football[/autotag]’s starting center [autotag]Luke Wypler[/autotag] announced that he was entering the [autotag]NFL Draft[/autotag] a year early, it left many of us wondering if that was the correct decision.

First off, centers aren’t normally highly valued when NFL teams are establishing their draft boards. Just four have gone in the first round over the last five drafts, those odds don’t seem overtly enticing for a center. Secondly, Wypler’s anticipated draft ranking might be lower than what he thought it might be.

With that in mind, 247Sports believes that Wypler would have benefitted from using up his eligibility. Yes, he was a starter for two seasons and made third-team [autotag]All-Big Ten[/autotag] this past year but “Wypler hasn’t been mentioned among the nation’s best at the position,” according to the report.

There are some varying ideas on where Wypler could get drafted. [autotag]Pro Football Focus[/autotag] is very high on his abilities so that leads us to think the decision made might have been correct.

We all hope that Wypler gets drafted which leads to a long and successful NFL career. There are still some mixed messages though and will probably continue to be as we get closer and closer to April.

Next up for Ohio State at quarterback, Part 2: Devin Brown

Devin Brown’s turn to be looked at under a microscope #GoBucks

The second installment of a three-part series going over who could be the next [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] quarterback is here. Yesterday, it was [autotag]Kyle McCord[/autotag] and his qualities that were broken down, today it is [autotag]Devin Brown[/autotag].

Each of the quarterbacks brings a different skill set, but both of them have the ability to lead head coach [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] and newly elevated offensive coordinator [autotag]Brian Hartline[/autotag]’s offense at a high level.

The anticipation of a highly contested quarterback battle is the most likely scenario and it should go deep into fall practice before a starter is named. Let’s take a look at what Brown brings to the table, breaking down his high school career along with what he showed last spring and this past season.

Next up for Ohio State at quarterback, Part 1: Kyle McCord

Let’s examine McCord

In a three-part series, I am examining the strengths and weakness of both [autotag]Kyle McCord[/autotag] and [autotag]Devin Brown[/autotag] now that [autotag]C.J. Stroud[/autotag] is officially off to the NFL. While there isn’t much data on either, there is enough to handicap the race while highlighting what each does well.

Parts 1 and 2 focus on the individuals. The final part consists of my takeaways and assessment of who has the advantage heading into spring ball. The expectation is this duel will go well into fall and potentially all the way to Week 1. [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] has a huge choice to make.

Let’s get this started with a closer look at what Kyle McCord brings to the table. This breakdown follows watching highlights from his final year in high school (COVID-19 shortened season) and his play in 2021, the 2022 spring game and this past season.

Ohio State offensive line starter coming back for 2023 season

Great news for the offensive line #GoBucks

The Ohio State football program hasn’t received the best news regarding their offensive line in the last few days. It wasn’t a surprise offensive tackle [autotag]Paris Johnson Jr.[/autotag] decided to leave for the NFL, however, center [autotag]Luke Wypler [/autotag] leaving was.

It’s almost a foregone conclusion that a third starter, tackle [autotag]Dawand Jones[/autotag], will follow his teammates to the NFL since he’s already committed to playing in the Senior Bowl.

The unit could have lost a fourth member. However, [autotag]Matthew Jones[/autotag] announced Wednesday morning that he plans to return to Columbus for another season. Jones and fellow guard [autotag]Donovan Jackson[/autotag] will be the two returning starters along the line in 2023 if Jones does what we expect.

Jones mentions unfinished business in his return post, which surely means a win against our rivals along with another shot with his [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] teammates at a College Football Playoff title.

Ohio State can’t close on transfer portal offensive lineman, commits to USC

Another portal miss for the Buckeyes #GoBucks

The Ohio State football team is starting to see which needs are becoming larger during the NFL declaration window. On Tuesday, offensive tackle [autotag]Paris Johnson Jr.[/autotag] announced his intention to leave Columbus with eligibility remaining.

Ohio State’s other starting tackle, [autotag]Dawand Jones[/autotag] hasn’t made his intentions known, but most assume he will join Johnson and move onto the next level. Buckeye head coach [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] must have known this was coming. He has pursued multiple transfer portal linemen, but with no success thus far.

Tuesday brought another miss. Former [autotag]Washington State[/autotag] offensive lineman [autotag]Jarrett Kingston[/autotag], who had visited Columbus, chose to commit to USC.

Transfer portal recruiting is starting to get a bit concerning. [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] has had many more disappointing stories than successful ones. With teams able to reload much easier via the portal, Ryan Day might need to reassess his philosophy in getting those players to stay on campus after visiting.
