Former Georgia Bulldog, ESPN commentator David Pollack to be included in new CFB video game

EA Sports gets it right by including former UGA All-American David Pollack

Georgia Bulldogs fans weren’t happy when ESPN dropped former UGA All-American David Pollack from the “College Gameday” set last year. The good news for Georgia faithful is Pollack will be included as a commentator in EA Sports’ new college football video game.

On Thursday, programs throughout the country announced their participation in “EA Sports College Football 25”. The highly-anticipated game has been in the works since 2021 when new name, image and likeness (NIL) rules allowed for student-athletes to be compensated for their likeness. The game was discontinued in 2014 due to previous NIL issues.

Georgia is one of 134 Football Bowl Subdivision schools to be included. Fans will be able to play Between the Hedges with UGA players who elect to opt-in. EA Sports is paying $600 plus a copy of the game (approximately worth $70) athletes who choose to do so.

Star quarterback Carson Beck is the first Georgia player to announce his participation. He’ll likely be one of the highest-rated players in the game.

Joining Pollack as commentators are Kirk Herbstreit, Chris Fowler, Jesse Palmer and Kevin Connors. While players and college football figure heads will be featured, coaches like Kirby Smart won’t be in this year’s version of the game.

EA Sports’ projects a summer release, although no specific date has been announced.

David Pollack crowns best TE in CFB history

Georgia football legend David Pollack is one of three Bulldogs to be named first-team All-American three times. Heisman-winning running back Herschel Walker is one of the other two.

The third is tight end Brock Bowers, who earned his third first-team All-American honor this month, capping a generational career in Athens and cementing his name in UGA lore forever.

“Best college football tight end of all time. CONGRATS, Captain America!!” Pollack wrote on X.

Bowers is also the only player in college football history to win the Mackey Award, given to the nation’s top tight end, twice.

He’s expected to enter the 2024 NFL draft and is widely considered a top-10 pick and for good reason.

Bowers established UGA tight end records for single-season receptions (56), receiving yards (882) and touchdowns (13) in his freshman season of 2021. His 13 touchdown catches are also a single-season UGA record by any pass catcher.

The Napa, California, native eclipsed his own tight end receiving records in 2022 with 63 catches for 942 yards.

Despite missing two games in 2023 due to injury, Bowers totaled 56 receptions for 714 yards and seven total touchdowns.

No. 19 will hold a special place in Georgia faithful’s hearts for years to come.

Pollack announced his top six rankings ahead of Week 14 of the college football season. The Power Five conference championship games are Georgia-Alabama, Oregon-Washington, Michigan-Iowa, Texas-Oklahoma State and Florida State-Louisville.

For Georgia, Michigan, Washington and Florida State, the deal is simple: Win and they’re in. If Oregon wins, the Ducks will probably make the College Football Playoff, but nothing is guaranteed.

David Pollack says Georgia clearly has coaching advantage over Alabama

David Pollack says Georgia ‘clearly’ has coaching advantage over Alabama

As No. 1 Georgia prepares to take on No. 8 Alabama in the SEC Championship, former Bulldog David Pollack didn’t hold back with his assessment of the two powerhouse programs.

To Pollack, Georgia has a clear advantage with head coach Kirby Smart at the helm. That statement wouldn’t be a stretch if anyone else other than Nick Saban, a seven-time national champion, stood on the opposite sideline.

Pollack joined former UGA quarterback Aaron Murray and former LSU center T-Bob Herbert on the “Snaps” podcast to breakdown his opinion.

“The better coach is clearly Kirby Smart. Clearly,” Pollack said. “Now I have enough evidence. They’re not going to get penalties. They’re not going to turn the football over. They’re not going to beat themselves. What have we seen from Nick Saban and Alabama the past several years? That discipline that we once saw that was elite of elite has eroded. Penalties up, turnovers have been more consistent.”

What Pollack thinks does have statistical backing in regards to penalties. Georgia is tied for 12th in the country with 4.3 penalties per game, while the Crimson Tide sits 66th with six per game.

That said, Alabama actually has a better turnover margin (plus-7) than the Bulldogs (0).

What Smart does have under his belt, beyond back-to-back national titles. is a stretch of 29 straight wins (SEC record). Saban’s best stretch at Alabama was 19 straight wins (twice).

Kickoff in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium is slated for 4 p.m. ET, televised on CBS.

David Pollack gives Carson Beck Heisman love

David Pollack shares his top five Heisman players including Georgia quarterback Carson Beck

Despite being laid off by ESPN, former Georgia Bulldog David Pollack continues to voice his thoughts on the college football landscape. On Monday, Pollack shared his top five Heisman players, which included Georgia quarterback Carson Beck. It’s taken some time for the national landscape to catch on to what Beck is doing at Georgia, but after another strong performance against Ole Miss, he’s starting to get that recognition.

Pollack listed Beck on his list of Heisman “Dudes” to show which guys he likes right now. Beck is coming off a 306-yard performance with two touchdowns and an interception. Through ten games this season, Beck has thrown for 3,022 yards and 18 touchdowns to five interceptions. Although Beck is statistically behind many Heisman quarterback contenders, he’s been the leader of the undefeated Bulldogs and powers the Georgia offense to 41.2 points per game.

Beck will have another couple chances to earn a trip to New York for the Heisman Trophy ceremony with an upcoming game on the road at Tennessee and the SEC championship game against Alabama. Beck is likely a long shot at this point in time, but anything is possible as long as the Bulldogs keep winning.

Pollack has remained a constant presence in the Georgia and the Athens area as he’s currently helping out the North Oconee football team and he travels around doing motivational speaking.
