8 underclassmen that can play key roles for Alabama Football next season

Alabama has a lot of underclassmen that were highly-regarded coming out of high school. Roll Tide Wire takes a look at 10 underclassmen that can be key contributors for the Crimson Tide next season.

Each year, Alabama signs some of the top recruits in the country. There is no questioning the fact that Alabama has established depth from a talent standpoint. While it has not been proven by some, others have already solidified their spot as a starter and key contributor.

With that being the case, it will be interesting to see which players on the roster take on an increased role heading into next season. Throughout the spring and summer, it will be interesting to keep an eye on which underclassmen take strides towards being contributors during the 2024 season.

Roll Tide Wire takes a look at eight underclassmen that could play key roles for Alabama Football next season.

Inexperienced players Alabama can’t afford to lose to the transfer portal

Nick Saban and Alabama need to hold on to these 8 young players

The NCAA transfer portal has become nearly impossible to keep up with. It seems players are entering the portal by the minute and some departures leave you wondering what exactly some of these young players are looking for.

Fortunately for Alabama, this portal window has been relatively quiet with [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Crimson Tide earning a bid to the College Football Playoff. Even still, Alabama’s roster has taken some hits with a handful of players deciding to pursue new opportunities.

Former Roll Tide Wire editor Clint Lamb wrote about four young players on offense that Alabama can ill afford to lose. Expanding on that idea, we added four more players to that the list.

Here is the full list of eight players:

10 Alabama players who should see more playing time in Week 3 matchup against USF

Changes must be made if Alabama wants a shot at the College Football Playoff. Here are 10 names to look out for.

There have been some good things and some bad things that the Alabama football team has done throughout the first two weeks of the season.

Some of the biggest concerns have been the inconsistency at the quarterback position and the inability to effectively create a pass rush. Those two issues will need to be cleaned up moving forward. Alabama could be in for a long, long season ahead if not.

With that said Roll Tide Wire takes a closer look at 10 players that should see more playing time in Alabama’s Week 3 matchup against USF as the Crimson Tide looks to run the table in the remaining 10 games of the season.

Alabama football countdown to kickoff: 31 days

We are now just 31 days away from the start of Alabama’s 2023 football season!

The Alabama Crimson Tide will take the field for the 2023 college football season in 31 days, as Middle Tennessee State visits Bryant Denny Stadium on Sept. 2.

Here at Roll Tide Wire, we will be counting down the days until Nick Saban and his team take the field.

With 31 days remaining, we take a look at one of the best to ever wear No. 31 and play for the Crimson Tide, outside linebacker Will Anderson.

Anderson was a menace on the edge for the Alabama defense from 2020-22 where he totaled 204 tackles, 58.5 tackles for loss, and 34.5 sacks.

Anderson was selected with the No. 3 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft by the Houston Texans.

Freshman outside linebacker Keon Keeley currently wears No. 31 for the Crimson Tide!

Former Notre Dame commit picks powerhouse program

At one time he was the highest-ranked player in Notre Dame’s 2023 recruiting class. Now he’s officially headed to the SEC.

The first commitment Notre Dame received in the 2023 recruiting class was from edge rusher Keon Keeley in spring of 2021. Keeley was a big-time commitment out of Florida who, along with Brenan Vernon of Ohio, gave the Irish a solid start to the future Notre Dame defensive line in a matter of days.

Vernon remains committed to Notre Dame’s class, but Keeley, now graded a five-star prospect, backed off his commitment in August. Now Keeley has decided on his future school, and it’s the one we were most worried about the second he took a visit there while still committed to Notre Dame.

As they say, the rich keep getting richer.

As for Notre Dame, it’ll still have a very strong class but missing on a talent like Keeley certainly stings. The Irish also received the bad news in the last few hours that a four-star defensive lineman from the 2024 recruiting class is backing off his commitment as well.

Alabama Football: 3 freshman defenders who could breakout in 2023

Three freshman defenders who could breakout this season for the Crimson Tide!

Despite being more than two months away from the start of the 2023 college football season, it truly feels like it is just around the corner. Before you know it, Nick Saban and the Alabama football team will be taking the field inside Bryant-Denny Stadium to play the Middle Tennessee State Blue Raiders on Sept. 2.

As we await the start of the season, it’s time to take a look at some of the players who could make an impact for the Crimson Tide this fall. We have already looked at three veteran defenders who could break out in 2023, but today we will look at three freshman defenders with the same potential.

Let’s roll!

WATCH: Alabama football summer enrollees officially move in

Watch as Keon Keeley, Yhonzae Pierre, Richard Young and the other summer enrollees arrive on campus!

[autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and the Alabama football program hauled in one of the most impressive recruiting classes of all time in the 2023 cycle. Most of the No. 1 ranked class enrolled early in January and participated in the spring football activities, including the annual A-Day game.

Still, a handful of the talented prospects and recent transfer additions are just now making their way into Tuscaloosa.

Keon Keeley, Yhonze Pierre, and Richard Young are a part of the group of players enrolling this summer.

On Tuesday afternoon, the official Twitter account of the Alabama football team released a short video celebrating “move-in day” with the summer enrollees.

Keon Keeley to follow in Will Anderson Jr.’s shoes and wear No. 31

Alabama fans, meet your new No. 31. Five-star freshman with Chase Young comps, Keon Keeley.

Keon Keeley is one of the next big-time defensive talents that will be taking the field for Alabama. Guys like Dallas Turner and Kool-Aid McKinstry are receiving all of the headlines right now, and for good reason, but Keeley is lurking in the back, waiting for his chance.

He was widely regarded as the best edge rusher in the 2023 class and a top-three player, regardless of position. On Monday, Keeley shared to social media that he will be following in Will Anderson Jr.’s shoes as he will wear the No. 31 for the next couple of years. Keeley has received NFL comparisons to Chase Young of the Washington Commanders.

The outside linebacker position will be really strong for the Tide in 2023, but they will want to get Keeley into the midst of the action as soon as possible. At 6-foot-5, 240 pounds he will be an absolute force to be reckoned with.

Remainder of Alabama’s No. 1 recruiting class set to arrive on campus this weekend

Remainder of Alabama’s No. 1 recruiting class set to arrive on campus this weekend!

Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide hauled in the top-ranked recruiting class in the 2023 cycle and it was also one of the most impressive classes of the Saban era.

Most of the historic class arrived in Tuscaloosa prior to the spring semester and was able to compete in spring practice and the annual A-Day game. However, there are a few guys that chose to delay their enrollment at Alabama and are now set to arrive over the next few days.

Also joining the team this weekend is the handful of recent transfer portal additions. Below is the list of players that are set to join the Tide soon!

Post-spring depth chart projections for Alabama’s outside linebackers

Projecting Alabama’s outside linebacker depth chart post-spring!

Now that spring football has officially wrapped up and the 2023 NFL draft is complete, it is time to shift our focus to the offseason.

Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide have a ton of questions marks exiting spring and fans are chomping at the bit for answers.

So as we dive into the dog days of summer, I thought we could take a look, position by position, and project the possible depth chart for the 2023 Alabama football team post-spring.

We have already taken a look at the quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, tight ends, offensive line, and defensive line. Today we will keep it along the defensive front and look at the outside linebacker!
