Georgia football lands 2021 4-star Elijah Jeudy

Georgia football picked up a commitment from 4-star 2021 DE Elijah Jeudy on Sunday.

Georgia’s 2021 recruiting class is starting to take shape, and it’s only a matter of time before the Dawgs are once again in the running for the top class in the nation.

On Sunday, Georgia picked up a commitment from four-star class of 2021 weak-side defensive end Elijah Jeudy, who announced his commitment to UGA via Instagram Live.

Jeudy, who is celebrating a birthday today, plays football for Northeast High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

At 6-foot-3 and 246 pounds, the edge rusher ranks as the nation’s No. 167 overall prospect and No. 12 weak-side defensive end.

Jeudy also put Texas A&M, Tennessee, Oregon and LSU in his top five. But in the end, it was the Dawgs who came out on top.

“Georgia, it feels like home down there. They show a lot of love to their family and to me,” Jeudy said during an interview with Rivals last week.

247Sports has compared Jeudy to Dallas Cowboys star DeMarcus Lawrence.

Here is their evaluation of Jeudy:

Jeudy has length and ideal size for rush end who can drop into coverage. Developed body has godo lower body strength. Athletic with burst and ability to change direction. Flexibility to dip shoulder and explode around edge. Uses hands well to keep offensive lineman off. Can re-direct down line of scrimmage. Excellent body control. Strong with gap integrity. Takes on blocks from proper side. Uses angles well. Willing to try different moves. Quick first step inside.

UGA now has seven commitments in the class of 2021:

5-star QB Brock Vandagriff

4-star OT Micah Morris

4-star DB David Daniel

4-star RB Lovasea Carroll

4-star SDE Jonathan Jefferson

4-star WDE Elijah Jeudy

3-star DT Marlin Dean

Georgia football picks up commitment from 4-star RB

Georgia football picked up a commitment from 4-star RB Lovasea Carroll.

The past 24 hours have been kind to the Georgia football program.

On Wednesday night, the Bulldog gained a commitment from 4-star offensive tackle Micah Morris. Later that evening, the nation’s No. 1 cornerback Tony Grimes included Georgia in his top-eight schools.

Now, Georgia has received more good news in the form of a commitment from 4-star running back Lovasea Carroll.

Carroll is a Warrenton, Georgia native playing his high school ball at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

Carroll chose Georgia over South Carolina, Florida, Auburn and Ohio State.

The 6-foot, 190 pounder ranks as the nation’s No. 8 running back, No. 122 overall player in his class and as the state of Florida’s No. 17 ranked prospect.

Here is 247Sports evaluation of Carroll:

Big frame with thickness and ability to play at 210 pounds. Very good vision and patient in traffic. Elusive behind line of scrimmage. Quick footed and changes direction well. Has burst. Tough to arm tackle and good in space. Rarely goes down on first contact. Excellent body control. Has speed to finish runs. Excels running between tackles. Accelerates well through line of scrimmage. Very little wasted movement. Has nice hop step. Solid pass catcher. Has to add flexibility to bend a bit more.

At The Opening Regional in March of 2019, Carroll ran a 4.56 40-time and recorded a 36.3 inch vertical.

He is now Georgia’s sixth commit in the 2021 class. With his addition, the Bulldogs have the No. 8 ranked class, climbing six spots in one day.

Watch: Texas Longhorns football signee’s dunking skills

Texas Longhorns’ 2020 signee can be a menace in harassing quarterbacks, but Prince Dorbah can also throw it donw on the court.

The Texas Longhorns football team is ready to see what Highland Park’s Prince Dorbah has in store on the gridiron. Dorbah is a highly touted Dallas area star as an outside linebacker and pass rusher. Apparently he can show off his skills on the court as well. He put the exclamation point on the Scot’s win with serious throw down.

With the injury bug hitting the Longhorns men’s hoops teams, makes you wonder if Dorbah could help out head coach Shaka Smart?

Top-100 recruit expands list, includes Georgia football in final eight

Georgia football was included in the top-eight of an elite 4-star recruit.

Kaine Williams, a 4-star safety in the class of 2021, has included Georgia in his top-eight schools.

Williams initially released a final cut of six schools, which included Georgia. In his tweet on Wednesday, Williams mentioned that no school dropped out of his top-six, however, he did add two schools to his list: Florida State and Texas.

His new top-eight includes LSU, Alabama, Texas A&M, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida, Florida State and Georgia.

Williams, out of John Ehret High School in Marrero, Louisiana, ranks as the nation’s No. 95 overall player and the No. 3 safety in the country.

Right now, according to 247Sports, Williams is viewed as an LSU lean. The Tigers will be a tough program to beat out seeing as how they routinely produce some of the nation’s top defensive backs and are located just 45 minutes from his home.

Williams recently told Rivals that he plans to commit either at the end of May or the beginning of August.

PFF’s top 10 true freshman classes of 2019 — How did Georgia’s class rank?

How did Georgia football’s 2019 recruiting class fare in PFF’s top-10 true freshman classes of 2019?

Recruiting is the lifeblood of college football and to build a dominant program requires securing the top athletes during each recruiting cycle.

Under Kirby Smart, Georgia has finished in the top four in the recruiting race in each year of the Coach Smart era. He landed the No. 1 overall class during the 2020 recruiting cycle and landed the No. 2 overall class in 2019. The 2019 class, led by five-star defensive recruits Nolan Smith Jr. (WDE), LB Nakobe Dean, DT Travon Walker and offensive recruits George Pickens (WR) and Clay Webb (OC), made significant contributions to the Bulldogs.

The analytical gurus at Pro Football Focus unveiled their “wins above average metric” to rank the top 10 true freshman from the college football season. LSU’s 2019 class finished first, led by the dominance of cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. North Carolina, which only had four, four-star recruits, finished second with freshman quarterback Sam Howell leading the Tar Heels. Georgia ranked third, led by the talents of Dominick Blaylock and George Pickens.

The Dawgs’ freshman class was followed by Southern Cal, Oregon, UCF, Washington, Clemson, Florida and Cincinnati. PFF’s analysis of UGA’s 2019 class follows:

Why they’re ranked here: Many of the Bulldogs’ true freshmen were called on to be role players in 2019, and almost all of them had a positive impact on the team. Georgia landed two of the top six wide receivers in ESPN’s rankings in Dominick Blaylock and George Pickens, and both led the pack for the Bulldogs, ranking among the 10 most valuable true freshman wide receivers in the country. On the defensive side, off-ball linebacker Nakobe Dean was the most valuable true freshman at his position, and it wasn’t close. Dean’s coverage skills shined, as he allowed just five of his 14 targets in coverage to be caught, with a couple of pass breakups mixed in.

How their top recruit fared: Edge defender Nolan Smith was ESPN’s second-ranked recruit of 2019, and he played the second-most snaps of any true freshman on Georgia’s roster, with 287.

Best true freshman: Pickens finished the season first among true freshman wide receivers in WAA, and he finished 19th among all wide receivers in the FBS. The best thing we saw from Pickens was his reliable hands, as he was one of 10 wide receivers to not drop a catchable target beyond the first-down marker.

Texas Longhorns’ Sam Ehlinger Among The Best Quarterbacks in 2020

247 analyst Brad Crawford lists the 10 best quarterbacks in 2020, Sam Ehlinger checks in as the highest rated signal caller in the Big 12.

When it comes to any football team there isn’t any more important position than the quarterback. For the Texas Longhorns in 2020, their success begins and ends with the quarterback and Sam Ehlinger. Brad Crawford of 247 has ranked the top 10 quarterbacks to take the field in 2020. There are two quarterbacks on the list with Texas ties.

Coming in at number 10 is former teammate of Ehlinger, Shane Buechele of Southern Methodist University.

Why he’s in the Top 10: Forward-thinking a bit here, but Buechele’s senior-season numbers at SMU could dwarf 2019’s stats — and those were awfully impressive (3,929 yards passing, 34 TDs). The language won’t change and Buechele will have full grasp of Sonny Dykes’ power spread as a Year 2 starter, even with the arrival of new OC Garrett Riley. The former Texas transfer gets all of his offensive linemen back and the arrival of two weapons at wideout will soften the blow of James Proche’s exit. SMU floundered late this fall, but the Mustangs could very much be a Top 25 mainstay once again in 2020 under Buechele’s guidance.

The highest rated quarterback on the list from the Big 12 and the state of Texas is Sam Ehlinger.

Why he’s in the Top 10: We’re watching one of the top quarterbacks in program history star for the Longhorns, but he still feels underappreciated nationally. He’ll back back for his final season in 2020 with one last opportunity to get Texas back to the forefront as a national title contender. Ehlinger’s best has come in spotlight opportunities against nationally-ranked competition, the mark of a true competitor. The guy has accounted for 80 touchdowns over his last 27 games, the second-most in college football during that stretch (Joe Burrow, 88).

Not only has Ehlinger been a huge factor in bowl game upsets against Georgia and Utah but he is setting himself up to become one of the two best quarterbacks in Texas history, statistically. The Austin Westlake product is already second in passing yards but how close can he get to Colt McCoy’s record?

Ehlinger is already top-ten in rushing for the Longhorns, with another big season running the ball could pass Marty Atkins for second all-time in rushing yards for a Texas quarterback only trailing Vince Young. Young’s record is virtually untouchable at this point for Ehlinger but being second to Young isn’t anything to feel bad about.

WATCH: ESPN Discusses if it will all click for Texas in 2020

ESPN college football analysts Cole Cubelic and Mike Golic Jr discuss whether or not 2020 will be the year of the Texas Longhorns.

The annual question that seems to be near the forefront of everyone’s mind always is “Texas back”? ESPN college football analysts Cole Cubelic and Mike Golic Jr make their case on if in fact, this is the year it all clicks for the Texas Longhorns and head coach Tom Herman.

Both Golic and Cubelic made valid points on the Texas Longhorns in 2020. Outside of the wide receivers, the team has plenty of talent returning in 2020.  Sam Ehlinger is poised to have the best season of his collegiate career with some uncertainty at wide receiver. The team has leading-rusher Keaontay Ingram coming back with Roschon Johnson, Jordan Whittington and freshman Bijan Robinson.

For the defense they welcome back Joseph Ossai, Caden Sterns, B.J. Johnson and D’shawn Jamison. The incoming freshman duo of Prince Dorbah and Alfred Collins look to make some noise in their first year on campus. Golic is obviously a bit jaded because we have all heard it before but could this be a different Texas team?

With an influx of talent and new coaches in play for the Longhorns, it just might be. They will find out relatively early just where they stand with a visit to Death Valley in a matchup with the defending National Champions. As Cubelic stated, it might be the year that Texas finally takes back over the Big 12 and gets on the national stage in pursuit of a college football playoff appearance.

Only time will tell but this team has all the makings to get it done. It will be put up or shut up time come the fall of 2020.

Watch: Texas Longhorns Commit Billy Bowman Jr Highlight Reel

Texas Longhorns’ 2021 commit Billy Bowman Jr has posted his highlight reel from his junior season at Denton Ryan.

The Texas Longhorns 2021 Commit Billy Bowman Jr posted his highlights from his junior year for Denton Ryan. Bowman is the seventh ranked athlete in the nation and the 15th ranked prospect in the state of Texas according to the 247 composite rankings.

Bowman committed to the Longhorns back in July to join teammate Ja’Tavion Sanders as Texas commits ahead of their junior seasons.

Bleacher Report’s Top 25 2021 Recruits: Texas Targets

Bleacher Report has come out with their top 25 recruits of the 2021 class. The Texas Longhorns have six targets among the list.

Bleacher Report college football writer Tyler Brooke has come out with his list of the top 25 recruits in the 2021 class. There are more than a few names on the list that have offers from Texas.

24. Atiye Hall, Wide Receiver, IMG Academy (Bradenton, FL)

MG Academy produces elite athletes across a number of different sports, and Agiye Hall is no different. At 6’3″ and 190 pounds, Hall is listed as the No. 1 receiver in the country with 43 FBS offers already on the table. His commitment is scheduled for March 14. Alabama, Arizona State, Clemson and LSU are among those in on him.

Hall has an offer from the University of Texas but teams listed in the post have the inside track on his commitment in 2021.

21. Troy Franklin, Wide Receiver, Menlo-Atherton (Menlo Park, CA)

An explosive playmaker that plays in all three phases of the game, Troy Franklin will be a big-time wide receiver in college. His wiry 6’2″, 170-pound frame still has plenty of room left to grow into, and his potential is through the roof. Alabama’s Jeff Banks and Oregon’s Jim Mastro are already hard at work trying to lure Franklin to their respective programs.

While Alabama, Oregon, Tennessee and Utah are among his top offers, the Texas Longhorns are right there in the mix for the five-star wide receiver who is ranked the number one receiver of the class. Composite rankings have him as number two receiver in the country and 23rd overall.

13. Landon Jackson, Weakside Defensive End, Pleasant Grove (TX)

At 6’6″ and 240 pounds, it’s not surprising to anyone that Landon Jackson already has 27 FBS offers. The Texas native is such a prized recruit that even Ohio State head coach Ryan Day has been personally involved in his recruitment. Jackson is putting up video-game numbers in high school, and there’s a whole season left for him to generate even more buzz

The Texas product has a wealth of offers on the table including from the Longhorns. 247 has him at 67 percent to the Aggies. It would be a great get for Texas if they can flip him to Austin. Jackson has yet to commit to a program early on in the cycle, but his 36.5 sacks in three seasons shows the level of disruption that he can create. He is rated the number one WDE in the nation.

10. Savion Byrd, Offensive Tackle, Duncanville (TX)

As 6’5″ and 265 pounds, Texas’ Savion Byrd has plenty of room to grow and already looks like one of the top offensive tackle prospects in the country. He hasn’t committed anywhere yet, but in-state schools like Texas and SMU have a strong chance to bring him in.

The defending National Champions in LSU are among the top teams in pursuit of the state’s second-best offensive tackle recruit. Byrd was tasked with protecting Texas’ signee Ja’Quinden Jackson and he could be doing that in the future. He is projected to sign with the Longhorns in 2021.

8. Tony Grimes, Cornerback, Princess Anne (Virginia Beach, VA)

Is there a chance an in-state school can snag the No. 1 recruit in Virginia? Top-ranked cornerback Tony Grimes is already drawing interest from the likes of Alabama, Clemson and Georgia thanks to his lengthy frame and smooth play at cornerback. It’ll be tough for Virginia or Virginia Tech to pull it off, but it would be a huge win for either program.

Grimes has received an offer from the Texas Longhorns but it seems like the number one rated cornerback in the country might be out of reach. He is likely to sign with Virginia Tech with the Aggies also in the running.

2. Tommy Brockermeyer, Offensive Tackle, All Saints Episcopal (Ft Worth, TX)

Being the top offensive tackle in the country is a huge honor for any recruit. For Brockermeyer, that’s the expectation given his family. Tommy’s father, Blake Brockermeyer, was an offensive tackle in the NFL and for the Texas Longhorns. His brother Luke is a linebacker with the Longhorns. It’s no guarantee that Brockermeyer follows his family’s footsteps because he’ll have a lot of top-tier schools heavily recruiting him over the coming year.

While the Longhorns do have the inside track on Brockermeyer, it doesn’t feel like it is a foregone conclusion. However with his broker Luke already in Austin, that could bode well. Another note is that Tommy’s twin brother James is the third-rated center in the country and is likely to join Luke in Austin.

Texas Longhorns Make Top Five For 2021 Offensive Guard

The Texas Longhorns were listed among the top five schools for Katy offensive guard Bryce Foster who is ranked second in the state.

The 2021 recruiting is in full swing with the 2020 cycle now but behind us. For the Texas Longhorns, they will need to continue rebuilding their offensive line to open holes for the running game and protecting the eventual heir to Sam Ehlinger. One of the top offensive lineman released his top five schools on Monday.

Bryce Foster is listed as the second rated offensive guard in the country according to his 247 profile. The four-star rated recruit is also listed as the 11th ranked Texas product and 68th nationally. Foster is yet to take a visit with the Longhorns and crystal ball projections have him linked to Texas A&M where his brother attended.

The Longhorns would be well on their way to another top tier class if they could secure his commitment. He is a physical mauler in the middle of an offensive line. Foster’s recruitment is one to keep an eye on over the next several months leading up to the early signing period for the Texas.
