Highlights: Georgia football signee RB Lovasea Carroll

Four-star running back Lovasea Carroll signed with the University of Georgia. Check out his highlights.

Four-star running back Lovasea Carroll signed with the University of Georgia in December. This year, he will look to earn playing time behind James Cook, Zamir White, Kendall Milton and Kenny McIntosh.

The Georgia Bulldogs have a stacked running back room again, but Carroll will find a way to earn playing time next season.

Carroll is a talented prospect out of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.  He ranks as the nation’s No. 116 recruit and No. 6 running back in the class of 2021. Carroll is from Warrenton, Georgia.

Check out Carroll’s highlights from his junior season at IMG Academy:

Carroll played against stout competition during his time at IMG Academy. Carroll’s biggest strengths are his speed and agility. He may be Georgia’s fastest running back on the roster next season.

Georgia RB commit Lovasea Carroll re-affirms commitment

Georgia Bulldogs running back commitment Lovasea Carroll considered flipping to the Florida Gators.

4-star running back Lovasea Carroll has been committed to the University of Georgia since April, but recently considered backing off his commitment to the Bulldogs.

Carroll tweeted on Friday that a “business decision is coming,” which caused many to believe that he was on the verge of announcing a decommitment from UGA.

Carroll set the record straight in an open and honest manner:

It’s great news for Georgia Bulldogs fans that Carroll is looking to stick with his commitment to UGA. Carroll admits that he considered flipping to Florida for more playing time, but he’s looking at the big picture and thinks he’d be better off in Athens.

It’s not a bad idea for Carroll, who could save valuable wear and tear on his body if he ends up behind talented backs at Georgia. Running backs tend to have some of the shortest NFL careers. Much of this is due to the injuries that commonly mount up at the position.

Carroll, out of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, ranks as the nation’s No. 103 prospect and No. 6 running back in the class of 2021. Carroll is a Warrenton, Georgia native.

Carroll chose Georgia over South Carolina, Florida, Auburn and Ohio State. At The Opening Regional in March of 2019, Carroll ran a 4.56 40-time and recorded a 36.3 inch vertical.

Georgia’s gain in Carroll is Florida’s loss. The Gators desperately need a running back recruit:

Is Georgia RB commit Lovasea Carroll considering a flip?

A few tweets from Georgia RB commit Lovasea Carroll makes me wonder if he’s considering flipping to Florida.

4-star running back Lovasea Carroll has been committed to UGA since April, however, based on his recent tweets there’s reason to believe he may be considering backing off that commitment from the Dawgs.

Carroll tweeted on Friday that a “business decision is coming,” which leads me to believe that he may be on the verge of announcing a decommitment from UGA.

Carroll, out of IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida, ranks as the nation’s No. 103 prospect and No. 6 running back in the class of 2021.

His IMG teammate, Kamar Wilcoxson, announced on Friday that he is 100% committed to the University of Florida and is doing what he can to get Carroll to join him, according to this excerpt from Florida’s Sports Illustrated page.

If it wasn’t obvious enough, Wilcoxson is a guy that other players want to play with and he is already working on other recruits to join the Gators 2021 class. Names that Wilcoxson and other UF commits are after begin with IMG teammates running back Lovasea Carroll and linebacker Xavien Sorey, Pennslyvania safety Donovan McMillon, cornerback Jason Marshall, safety Corey Collier, and more. It is impressive to see recruits team up with others, but it is rare to see a recruit with this much influence on his peers.

He also quoted Wilcoxson’s tweet with Gator emojis, which I’m not going to read too far into at this time. He may have just been showing some love to his teammate.

Georgia recruiting: Notable changes in 247 Sports’ updated player rankings

Here are some notable changes in the 247 Sports recruiting rankings as it pertains to Georgia football.

On Wednesday, 247Sports updated its 2021 recruiting rankings for the top high school football prospects in the country.

Georgia, which holds six commitments in the class of 2021, has five players ranked in the top 247.

Remember, these rankings are different from 247’s Composite Rankings. The Composite Rankings take into account all four primary services in the industry, while the 247 rankings are created by the company’s own analysts.

Here are the new rankings for Georgia’s commits:

QB Brock Vandagriff out of Bogart, Ga.

Vandagriff, a 4-star in 247’s rankings, moved down one spot to No. 32 overall. He is the No. 2 ranked dual-threat QB. He remains a 5-star in the composite rankings.

OT Micah Morris out of Kingland, Ga.

Morris, a 4-star OT, remains the 92nd overall player in the nation. He’s America’s No. 17 ranked OT and No. 10 player in Georgia.

RB Lovasea Carrol out of Warrenton, Ga. (currently attending IMG Academy)

4-star RB Lovasea Carroll remained the No. 106 overall prospect. He did, however, move up one in the running back rankings from No. 8 to No. 7.

DB David Daniel out of Woodstock, Ga.

Daniel is a 4-star defensive back who saw a slight change and is now the No. 134 overall prospect.

SDE Johnathan Jefferson from Douglasville, Ga.

4-star SDE Jefferson dropped five slots and is now ranked as the nation’s No. 171 overall prospect.

A few notable players who are uncommitted:

Georgia football picks up commitment from 4-star RB

Georgia football picked up a commitment from 4-star RB Lovasea Carroll.

The past 24 hours have been kind to the Georgia football program.

On Wednesday night, the Bulldog gained a commitment from 4-star offensive tackle Micah Morris. Later that evening, the nation’s No. 1 cornerback Tony Grimes included Georgia in his top-eight schools.

Now, Georgia has received more good news in the form of a commitment from 4-star running back Lovasea Carroll.

Carroll is a Warrenton, Georgia native playing his high school ball at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Florida.

Carroll chose Georgia over South Carolina, Florida, Auburn and Ohio State.

The 6-foot, 190 pounder ranks as the nation’s No. 8 running back, No. 122 overall player in his class and as the state of Florida’s No. 17 ranked prospect.

Here is 247Sports evaluation of Carroll:

Big frame with thickness and ability to play at 210 pounds. Very good vision and patient in traffic. Elusive behind line of scrimmage. Quick footed and changes direction well. Has burst. Tough to arm tackle and good in space. Rarely goes down on first contact. Excellent body control. Has speed to finish runs. Excels running between tackles. Accelerates well through line of scrimmage. Very little wasted movement. Has nice hop step. Solid pass catcher. Has to add flexibility to bend a bit more.

At The Opening Regional in March of 2019, Carroll ran a 4.56 40-time and recorded a 36.3 inch vertical.

He is now Georgia’s sixth commit in the 2021 class. With his addition, the Bulldogs have the No. 8 ranked class, climbing six spots in one day.
