Damien Harris discusses excitement about joining Buffalo Bills

Damien Harris decided to stay in the AFC East and sign with the Buffalo Bills. He couldn’t be more excited about it.

Former Alabama running back Damien Harris was selected in the third round of the 2019 NFL draft by the New England Patriots and was a key contributor to the team’s offense during his time with the franchise. As a free agent in 2023, Harris decided to sign with a fellow AFC East team, the Buffalo Bills.

The move is one of many this offseason that saw players from inside that specific division move to one of the other three teams in the division.

Harris is still only 26 years old and has a whole career ahead of him. In 2022, he appeared in 11 games where he ran for 462 yards and three touchdowns.

During recent media availability, Harris discussed how excited he is to be with the Buffalo Bills.

“I’m excited to be here,” said Harris during his introductory press conference earlier this week. “There’s a lot of reasons why I chose here, this is a great organization, from top to bottom, from ownership to the management to the coaching the players, the entire staff, I feel like the transition into a great organization, it’s just obviously so appealing. The trajectory of this organization, kind of the momentum that this team is building, it’s all appealing. And it’s all something that I wanted to be a part of and something that I felt like I could come in and help with.”

He also went on to say, “I can finally say it now, but I love Bills Mafia.”

Roll Tide Wire will continue to cover Harris and other former Alabama players now in the NFL.

Jahmyr Gibbs lands with Dallas Cowboys in latest 2023 NFL mock draft

Jahmyr Gibbs is projected to land with the Cowboys in the first round of the 2023 NFL draft.

Jahmyr Gibbs only spent one season at Alabama after transferring into the program from Georgia Tech, which is where he played his first two seasons of college football. While with the Crimson Tide, the spotlight shined bright onto Gibbs as he became the heart of the team’s offense.

As the leading rusher and receiver of the team, Gibbs worked his way into the national conversation as one of the top offensive prospects for the 2023 NFL draft. Most analysts have Gibbs as the second-highest-rated running Bach behind Texas‘ Bijan Robinson.

Patrick Conn of College Sports Wire recently revealed his latest 2023 mock draft, which features Gibbs being selected No. 26 overall to the Dallas Cowboys, which would be an interesting fit.

“The Cowboys recently parted ways with Ezekiel Elliott and Tony Pollard signed his franchise tag,” writes Conn, “Gibbs gives them a solid one-two punch at the position and he provides playmaking ability as a return specialist.”

As Conn notes, the tandem of Elliott and Pollard was broken up after the Cowboys released the former Ohio State star running back. Bringing in Gibbs wouldn’t be an exact replacement for Elliott, however, as Gibbs’ skillset is more versatile and less like a power back.

Gibbs, as a ball carrier and pass catcher, would likely thrive as the star of the backfield, similar to how Najee Harris transitioned into the NFL with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to cover Gibbs and other former Alabama players as the 2023 NFL draft approaches.

5 trade candidates that could land Derrick Henry

Derrick Henry could be traded this offseason, where would you want to see the former Heisman-winning RB play?

Former Heisman-winning running back Derrick Henry has been with the Tennessee Titans since the franchise selected him in the second round of the 2016 draft out of Alabama. He has collected accolades and served as the centerpiece of Tennessee’s offense every since.

The three-time Pro Bowl running back has led the league twice in rushing yards, twice in rushing touchdowns and three times in rushing attempts. Now, the Titans are reportedly listening to potential trade offers for Henry as he enters his final season under contract.

Many teams are expected to inquire about him, but he can only be traded to one of them. Here are five teams that could be the best possible fit for Henry.

Jahmyr Gibbs compared to two-time NFL first-team All-Pro Jamaal Charles

Jahmyr Gibbs compared to NFL legend Jamaal Charles at the combine

Of all of the players the Alabama Crimson Tide landed in the transfer portal last season, none had a greater impact than running back Jahmyr Gibbs. He was not only the Tide’s leading rusher in 2022, but he also led the team in receptions with 44.

Gibbs is one of the most versatile players in the 2023 NFL draft class, and he absolutely balled out at the combine over the weekend. The NFL’s official Twitter page tweeted out a by the numbers comparison between Gibbs and two-time first-team All-Pro Jamaal Charles. They are nearly identical.

Gibbs is widely regarded as the RB2 in this draft class behind Texas Longhorns RB Bijan Robinson. Both are expected to be selected in the first round of the draft.

Las Vegas Raiders place franchise tag on RB Josh Jacobs

The Las Vegas Raiders elect to place the 2023 franchise tag on star RB Josh Jacobs

Josh Jacobs had his fifth-year option declined by the Las Vegas Raiders ahead of the 2022 season. He went on to have the best season of his young career. Instead of letting Jacobs hit free agency unrestricted, the Raiders placed the star running back under the franchise tag for 2023.

Last season, Jacobs had a career-high 1,653 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns. Based on his performance in 2022, Jacobs was slated to be one of the most highly-sought free agents in the league.

Under the franchise tag, Jacobs is set to earn over $10 million, but the franchise’s goal is going to be to agree to terms on a long-term contract.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Josh Jacobs and other former Alabama players in the NFL as the 2023 offseason continues.

Eagles draft prospects: 10 players that impressed at the NFL scouting combine

We’re looking at 10 potential Philadelphia Eagles NFL draft targets that impressed the most at the 2023 scouting combine

The 2023 NFL Scouting Combine is a wrap, and while players improved their stock greatly, we’re looking at ten potential Eagles fits that impressed the most.

With Philadelphia potentially targeting a running back in April’s draft, names like Bijan Robinson, Jahmyr Gibbs, and Zach Charbonnet were on display.

On the defensive side of the football, Brandon Graham, Fletcher Cox, Javon Hargrave, T.J. Edwards, Kyzir White, James Bradberry, C.J. Gardner-Johnson, and Marcus Epps are all slated for free agency. It won’t be possible for the Eagles to bring them all back, especially once Jalen Hurts signs his new deal.

Philadelphia could look to draft a cornerback and safety with multiple free agents in the secondary.

Former NFL GM breaks down Jahmyr Gibbs’ expected role in NFL offenses

One former NFL GM thinks Alabama RB Jahmyr Gibbs will be utilized in Christian McCaffrey-type role

Former Alabama running back Jahmyr Gibbs isn’t expected to be the first running back selected in the 2023 NFL draft, but he is projected to be a potential late first-round pick.

Gibbs only spent one season in Tuscaloosa after transferring from Georgia Tech, where he played his freshman and sophomore seasons.

In 2022, he rushed for 926 yards and had seven touchdowns. He was also the Crimson Tide’s leading receiver with 444 yards and three receiving touchdowns.

Rick Spielman, former Minnesota Vikings general manager, recently discussed what kind of role he expects Gibbs to have in the NFL.

He argues that Gibbs’ versatility will lead to him being utilized in a “Christian McCaffrey-type role.”

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Gibbs and other former Alabama stars as the 2023 NFL draft approaches.
