WATCH: Bears rookie RB Roschon Johnson scores off a short TD run vs. Falcons

Rookie Roschon Johnson extended the Bears’ lead against the Falcons.

It’s a scoring extravaganza! Bears quarterback Justin Fields was the first to punch in the ball to the endzone, so naturally the running backs wanted to get in on that fun.

After Fields led yet another methodical drive that featured him patiently finding open receivers to move the chains, with a healthy dose of running back Khalil Herbert to keep the offense balanced. After a short conversion on fourth and inches only a couple yards away from the goal line, the Bears were able to notch their third touchdown of the game.

Rookie running back Roschon Johnson took the short handoff and churned his legs until he pushed through for the 2-yard touchdown run, with several offensive lineman aiding him by pushing the pile.

Johnson was Falcons rookie running back Bijan Robinson’s college teammate, and Johnson was the first to reach pay dirt.

The key will be finishing the contest; the Bears have allowed opponents to jump ahead of them in the latter half of games despite having a marginal lead. Up 21-7 at the half, however, their odds of securing the win are looking good.

Fantasy football sleepers to play in Week 14

Check out these sleepers to play in fantasy football for Week 14.

In most leagues, Week 14 is the final week of the regular season for fantasy football managers. This is their final time to either make that last push for a playoff spot, secure a first-round bye or play spoiler for a team trying to make it.

Fortunately, the majority of teams have now had their bye weeks. The only two teams on a bye in Week 14 include the Arizona Cardinals and Washington Commanders.

Some managers will opt to go for the safer bet this week, but it’s always a good idea to reach for a ceiling in a must-win game. That’s where the sleepers come in.

Beaten, battered and bruised, the fantasy football world emerges from the ashes as the Week 13 bye-pocalypse is behind us. Now, it’s time to focus on the top waiver wire targets for Week 14.

While we’re not out of the woods yet when it comes to bye weeks, only two teams are getting the week off in Week 14. That would be the Arizona Cardinals and Washington Commanders.

Not only did managers have to deal with six fantasy-relevant teams going through their byes in Week 13, but it also was a slate of games marred by injury. With trade deadlines concluded in the majority of leagues, the waiver wire becomes the most vital tool for fantasy managers over the next month.

We’re also getting to the point of the season in which FAAB isn’t as crucial. Don’t be afraid to spend a bit more on a player who might give your team an edge down the stretch.

Fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em: Week 9

Check out these starts and sits for fantasy football in Week 9.

With the Thursday night game in Week 9 now behind us, it’s time to focus our attention on the vital start/sit decisions to make in fantasy football for the weekend.

Four teams will be on a bye this week including the Detroit Lions, Denver Broncos, Jacksonville Jaguars and San Francisco 49ers.

Doing start/sit articles can be a little challenging. The players featured on the list below should not be taken as “must starts” or “must sits.” Instead, these are more suggestions on what we believe managers should do with fringe players heading into the weekend. The choice is ultimately up to the manager.

Just because a player is listed as a “start” doesn’t mean he should be put in the lineup over the secure, bona fide studs. Vice versa for the “sits.” If there’s no better option on the waiver wire or the bench, a manager shouldn’t automatically sit the player. That’s why these can be tricky waters to navigate.

Fantasy football start ’em, sit ’em: Week 8

Check out these starts and sits for fantasy football in Week 8.

After an entertaining Thursday night contest, it’s time to prepare for a weekend full of tough decisions as fantasy football managers stare down their lineups awaiting the slate of games in Week 8.

Fortunately, there are no teams on a bye in Week 8, which makes start/sit decisions a bit easier. Still, there are plenty of injuries and trends taking place to factor into the decision-making process.

Bears run game has been dominant in past 4 games

Even down two of their top running backs, the Bears run game has thrived in the last month.

The Chicago Bears were the NFL’s top ranked rushing offense last season. And while they got off to a bit of a slow start this year, they’re once again a top five unit in the league.

The Bears are averaging 141.3 rushing yards per game, which ranks fifth in the NFL. But they’ve really hit their stride over the past four games, averaging  171 rushing yards per game. They’ve rushed for 171 yards (Broncos), 178 yards (Commanders), 162 yards (Vikings) and 173 yards (Raiders).

It’s made all the more impressive considering Chicago has been without its top two running backs in the past two games. Khalil Herbert landed on injured reserve with an ankle injury while rookie Roschon Johnson has been dealing with a concussion.

But veteran D’Onta Foreman has more than stepped up in their absence. After being inactive for four straight games, Foreman has been a reliable force on the ground with 31 rushes for 154 yards and two touchdowns. He’s averaged 5.0 yards per carry.

Foreman’s best game came in Week 7, where the team leaned on him and Darrynton Evans with undrafted rookie Tyson Bagent making his first NFL start. Foreman accounted for 120 total yards (89 rushing, 31 receiving) and three total touchdowns, while averaging 5.6 yards per carry.

With Johnson slated to return this week against the Raiders — and Herbert expected to return in a few weeks — things could get interesting in the running back room. There are plenty of capable backs — now it’s about spreading the wealth.

Bears RB Roschon Johnson on track to return in Week 8 against Chargers

The Bears are expected to get some reinforcements at running back as rookie Roschon Johnson is expected to make his return vs. Chargers.

Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus addressed the media on Monday following the team’s 30-12 win over the Las Vegas Raiders, where he provided some updates on key offensive players.

While Chicago will likely be without quarterback Justin Fields for a second straight game, the Bears are likely to have a key piece of their backfield returning in Week 8 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

“Roschon Johnson is coming back,” Eberflus said. “It looks good. He has another hurdle he has to clear, but it looks real positive for Wednesday and we’ll see where it is at that time.”

The rookie running back has been sidelined since suffering a concussion back in the Bears’ Week 5 win over the Washington Commanders on Thursday Night Football. Johnson had 19 yards on three carries in the 40-20 victory.

The Texas standout has played in five games this season, accumulating 25 carries and 122 rushing yards with one touchdown. Six of Johnson’s carries have gone for first downs. Johnson has also been utilized in the passing game, collecting 58 yards on 11 receptions.

Journeyman D’Onta Foreman has taken the lion’s share of the carries in light of the injuries in the backfield and had his best day in a Bears uniform against the Raiders, rushing for 89 yards on 16 carries and two touchdowns. He added another score in the passing game.

Adding Johnson back into the mix gives the Bears another weapon for Bagent, who looks set to make his second consecutive start against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Fantasy football waiver wire: Week 7 free-agent forecast

Check out the top waiver wire targets in fantasy football for Week 7.

Don’t look now, but we’re nearly halfway through the 2023 fantasy football season as Week 7 quickly approaches. Scouring the waiver wire has never been more prudent.

After being blessed with just two teams on a bye, this week won’t be as kind. There are six teams off this week, several of which boast superior fantasy talent. Teams on a bye in Week 7 include the Carolina Panthers, Dallas Cowboys, New York Jets, Cincinnati Bengals, Houston Texans and Tennessee Titans.
