2024 NFL draft: 7 most realistic options for the Ravens in the first round

We’re looking at the seven most realistic 2024 NFL Draft options for the Baltimore Ravens in the first round

With the first wave of NFL free agency over, all eyes around the league will turn toward pro days and one final month-long push toward April’s NFL draft.

Baltimore has needs, but after a solid start to the free agency process, the first-round pick (No. 30) could be about nagging the best player available or a potential building block in the trenches.

Mock draft season is in full swing, and most draft experts and pundits will likely simulate 100s scenarios for all seven rounds, with realistic options starting to take shape.

With Top 30 visits increasing, we’re looking at the seven most realistic options for Baltimore at pick No. 30.

Houston Texans DE Will Anderson Jr. taking training camp by storm

Will Anderson Jr. has been the Texans’ defensive standout at training camp so far.

Under the guidance of legendary head coach Nick Saban, the University of Alabama has been a factory of NFL talent, especially on the defensive side of the ball. The Crimson Tide has produced many unbelievable talents, yet many believe that Will Anderson Jr. stands out as the best of the Saban era.

Anderson has a long list of accolades and accomplishments while in Tuscaloosa, as he was named a two-time Bronko Nagurski Trophy winner, two-time SEC Defensive Player of the Year winner, two-time unanimous All-American, and much more. During that two-year stretch, Anderson had 152 total tackles, 48 tackles for loss, and 27.5 sacks while facing double teams and the toughest assignments in college football. Despite it all, he produced video game numbers.

So, it might be easy to understand why the Houston Texans were eager to trade up to No. 3 in the 2023 NFL draft to land his services. The Texans are led by first-year head coach DeMeco Ryans who has reportedly always been very high on Anderson. Ryans views Anderson as a defensive centerpiece they can build around for years to come as there are fewer commodities more valuable in the NFL than an elite pass rusher. Ryans was also a defensive draft pick out of Alabama as he was taken in the second round of the 2006 NFL Draft by the Texans.

Through the first few days of training camp, Anderson has been an absolute monster and has made his way into the backfield several times already. With Alabama, he played a hybrid linebacker/EDGE rusher role, but in the NFL he will be a true DE with the sole task of sacking the QB, something he does quite well. Anderson will certainly be in the conversation for the NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year when the season is over.

Two Alabama starters are expected to be top 2024 NFL draft prospects

A few Alabama football stars are expected to be the top prospects at their position for the 2024 NFL Draft class.

One of the ways Alabama football is preparing for the 2023 college football season is by focusing on replacing the impact players from last season that are no longer with the program. Some of the players that are expected to step up include edge rusher Dallas Turner and defensive back Kool-Aid McKinstry.

Both Turner and McKinstry were recently chosen as possible top prospects at their respective positions for the distant 2024 NFL draft

ESPN draft analyst Matt Miller shared his picks for the top draft-eligible players at every position.

For edge rushers, it was between Turner and Jared Verse of Florida State. In the end, Miller chose Turner.

“The edge rusher debate is a tale of two stories: potential vs. known product. First, we have Turner, a five-star recruit out of high school who has started just 10 games on a loaded Alabama team. But in that time, he has produced 12.5 sacks and 60 pressures, and scouts and coaches believe the best is still to come, once he takes over Will Anderson Jr.’s place in the lineup. I really like his first-step quickness.”

Miller also quoted one NFL scouting director, who reportedly said that Turner will get some player comparisons to former Penn State standout, Micah Parsons.

As for cornerback, Miller chose McKinstry over Penn State’s Kalen King.

“McKinstry doesn’t just have the best nickname in college football — he might also be the best cover man in the sport. In 2022, he one-upped King by allowing a QBR of 13.2 — ninth in the nation among DBs who saw at least 50 targets. He hauled in one interception and broke up 14 passes. At 6-foot-1 and 190 pounds, he has the length that teams love to go along with topflight speed.”

Furthermore, One AFC scout reportedly said “McKinstry is the dude.”

Both Turner and McKinstry are expected to have strong seasons, which is not only necessary to help their expected draft profiles, but Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide will need their talents and leadership to win.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Alabama football as the 2023 offseason begins to wind down.

Fin’s Ale House comes complete with outdoor dining and spacious seating inside.

Ask around for a good restaurant in Lewes, Delaware, and the name Fin’s Ale House & Raw Bar is almost sure to come up.

When it does, run, don’t walk. It doesn’t matter if you want to sit and the bar and shuck oysters, or if you want to sit on the dining side. Just go and enjoy being a bit pampered while you enjoy fresh seafood.

In our experience, the service was great, especially for a place where shorts and ball caps are not questioned. It’s tourist-town-casual-dine, but up a notch.

We spent time asking a few of our usual questions of the server. What is your favorite? What is most popular? Anything we should avoid?

Fin's Ale House Seafood BakeThe Seafood Bake is the perfect sampler if you want to taste it all.

He quietly warned us that the chefs often have a heavy hand with the white wine on the Seafood Bake, making it watery, not better. We dared it anyway, and it must have been a good night—the flavor combination was delicious. Shrimp, scallops, flounder, crab cake, and a light sauce with Florentine butter, which is a mix of cultured butter, olive oil, and lemon, often with other seasonings or a bit of brandy thrown in.

Fin's Ale House Crab CakesThe Crab Cakes were full of fresh crab, not filler.

He made sure we knew that the Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes weren’t your ordinary fried circles. No, they are pure crab, broiled and delicious. Hint: Ask for them to be delivered piping hot, as there appeared to be a tendency to let them sit just a little too long.

Fin's Ale House pastaThe Seafood Pasta from Fin’s Ale House.

We also took his recommendation and ordered the FINS’ Shellfish Pasta. It proved that you can take some of the same seafood and make it taste totally different. This dish had the shrimp, scallops, and lump crab meat, but was mixed with a delectable lobster cream sauce and served over penne pasta.

Specials when our party of three was there included a lobster roll made with “FINS’ famous lobster salad,” and a Spicy Grouper Scampi, using one of the daily fish selections. As good as it sounded—pan seared fillet, linguini, sun dried tomatoes, asparagus, garlic white wine, butter, capers, and crushed pepper—we stuck with the regular menu. We could also have gotten Pecan Encrusted Mahi or Horseradish Encrusted Halibut. All for another time.

Fin's Ale House Fin’s Ale House has a choose your own fish dish.

Fins is also known for its Build Your Own Fresh Fish aboard. The instructions are simple:

1. Select a fish from the daily rotating selection
2. Select a preparation (e.g. broiled, grilled, blackened, or even stuffed with crab imperial)
3. Select a sauce—citrus hollandaise, lobster sauce, lemon shallot cream, Creole sauce, and more

Just like that you can have the seafood dish of your dreams.

Oh, and if your tastes spin to the more exotic, they offered a Spanish Seafood Paella that sounded amazing. It was made with all the standards, including scallops, mussels, shrimp, clams, fish, lump crab meat, calamari, Andouille sausage, and saffron rice. This alone proves both the versatility of the restaurant and its commitment to fresh seafood.

We did feel the need for a crusty bread basket to sop up our sauces, but didn’t see it on the menu and one wasn’t automatically offered. Next time we’ll ask.

Because there will be a next time.
