Where LSU stands in On3’s updated 2024 consensus recruiting rankings

On3 has released its latest recruiting rankings for the 2024 class, and LSU sits just outside the top 10.

On3 released its latest recruiting rankings for the 2024 class, and LSU is just outside the top 10.

The Tigers have 12 commitments for the class. The emphasis of this class so far has been to build more depth at the linebacker position. LSU has lost a number of linebackers to the transfer portal and injuries lately so [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] is trying to rebuild that aspect of the team.

He has an incredible foundation at linebacker with talented sophomore [autotag]Harold Perkins[/autotag].

With the loss of [autotag]Walker Howard[/autotag] to the transfer portal, LSU was looking to recruit another talented quarterback, and it landed four-star [autotag]Colin Hurley[/autotag] from Jacksonville, Florida.

This class is far from complete and these rankings are just based on high school players. Kelly likes to be aggressive in the transfer portal and bring in talented guys with substantial experience.

We will see how it all shakes out.

Alabama takes over top spot in On3’s Consensus Team Rankings

After a dominating month of July on the recruiting trail, Nick Saban and Alabama take over the top spot in On3’s Consensus Team Rankings.

After a week that saw not one but two five-star commitments, [autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] and Alabama have now taken over the top spot in On3’s Consensus Team Rankings.

Over the last few days, the Crimson Tide has received commitments from both the nation’s top safety in [autotag]Caleb Downs[/autotag] and the nation’s top running back in [autotag]Richard Young[/autotag]. Downs and Young join fellow five-star prospects [autotag]Tony Mitchell[/autotag] and Jahlil Hurley as the top-rated commitments in Alabama’s class.

Alabama has two of the top ten quarterbacks in [autotag]Eli Holstein[/autotag] and Dylan Lonergan as well as two of the top three running backs in the aforementioned Young and [autotag]Justice Haynes[/autotag].

Currently, Alabama has a total of 16 commitments, 10 of which are ranked within the top 200 and there are no signs of the Tide slowing down anytime soon.

An updated look at On3’s recruiting rankings for the 2023 class

All focus is on recruiting as we enter a crucial summer for Steve Sarkisian and the Texas staff.

All focus is on recruiting as we enter a crucial summer for Steve Sarkisian and the Texas staff. Many top prospects will be either taking official visits over the next few months or making decisions on their future homes.

Texas has positioned itself well so far for another excellent class in 2023. The Longhorns rank No. 11 in On3’s consensus top 25 recruiting rankings with only five players in the class for far.

A few high-profile targets could swing Texas way up or down this list as time goes on. Five-star quarterback Arch Manning is the biggest piece of the puzzle for Texas in 2023. Landing Manning would cause other dominos to fall in the Longhorns direction.

Texas Tech (No. 14), Oklahoma (No. 18) and Baylor (No. 21) join Texas as Big 12 schools in the top 25.

Alabama Morning Drive: ‘Bama hoops blasted by Texas A&M 87-71

The top stories involving the Crimson Tide on Thursday morning.

Good morning and welcome to Roll Tide Wire’s Alabama Morning Drive where we give you the day’s top stories from Alabama athletics and the SEC.

On tap for today is the painfully inconsistent Alabama men’s basketball team, baseball finally gets back in the win column, and a recent class of 2023 commit receives five-star status on the On3 consensus rankings.

Alabama basketball, the epitome of inconsistency

I have completely given up on trying to figure out this Alabama men’s basketball team. By now you all know the story. This team has beaten some of the top teams in the country but also has some head-scratching defeats. The latest is the complete spanking the Tide took on Wednesday night at the hands of the Texas A&M Aggies, 87-71.

A&M took it to Alabama in the second half, outscoring the Tide 50-31. Alabama turned the ball over a total of 19 times which lead to 29 points for the Aggies. Alabama’s carelessness with the basketball continues to be a problem for Nate Oats and the Tide.

Alabama will travel to Baton Rouge on Saturday to compete with the Tigers of LSU. Tip-off is set for 11:00 a.m. CT on CBS.

Alabama baseball dominates Troy

After suffering four consecutive losses on the diamond, Brad Bohannon and the Alabama baseball team were able to get back on track Wednesday afternoon taking care of the Troy Trojans, 8-1. The Tide improves to 6-4 on the season and will host Murray State over the weekend. The weekend series will be available on SEC Network+.

Alabama softball does what Alabama softball does

Patrick Murphy has to be pleased with the start to the season that Team 26 has had. The ladies finished off UAB on Wednesday night 7-0 to improve their season record to 16-0. Alabama is set to host the T-Mobile Crimson Classic this weekend where they are set to take on Texas and Miami (OH).

Alabama commit Jahlil Hurley receives fifth-star

Just a little over a week ago class of 2023 in-state cornerback prospect Jahlil Hurley committed to Nick Saban and the Tide. Now the high school standout has received his fifth-star thanks to the newly updated On3 consensus rankings. Hurley is now rated as the third-best prospect in the state of Alabama for the class of 2023.

Alabama commit Elliot Washington receives significant bump in latest On300 rankings

Tide commitment soars in the latest On300 recruiting rankings!

Back on Jan. 31, Alabama received its first commitment in the class of 2023 in Elliot Washington. Just a few weeks later, on the final day of February, On3 released its newly updated On300 rankings and Washington received a massive bump in his rankings.

Washington would move from No. 136 overall to No. 66 in the updated rankings.

On3’s thoughts on Washington

“The Alabama commitment makes the move from No. 136 to 66 after very impressive junior video and a subsequent Under Armour Camp Miami performance. Washington posted in a 4.42 40 at 195 pounds at the camp, and he looked powerful and explosive in drills. Washington’s versatility sets him apart from many other defensive backs in the cycle. He has the ability to play anywhere in the secondary due to a blend of size, speed, and ball skills. He displayed patience and sound eyes at the Miami camp.”

More good news could be on its way from a recruiting standpoint, Alabama is set to host several high-profile recruits this upcoming weekend and there could be a couple more who pull the trigger and commit to the Crimson Tide.

Several Alabama signees finish as 5-stars in recent On3 rankings update

Nick Saban is showing no signs of slowing down both on the field and on the recruiting trail

Traditional signing day is just a little over a week away and although Nick Saban and Alabama have pretty much wrapped up its class of 2022, player rankings continue to be updated.

On Monday, On3 Sports released its updated On300 rankings and several of Alabama’s signees finished with five-star status.

The Crimson Tide came in at No. 2 in the country in the consensus rankings just behind Texas A&M.

In total, Alabama saw five of its signees finish with a five-star rating. Of those, three were on offense and two were on defense. Here is every five-star signee the Crimson Tide has for the class of 2022.

To top things off, the updated rankings also show that in total, Alabama landed 15 of the top 100 players according to On3. Here are the remaining signees who finished inside of the top 100.

The class of 2022 is absolutely loaded for Saban and the Tide and it should be a lot of fun to watch these prospects develop over the next few seasons.
