The former Bama QB has a new home in the Big Ten

[lawrence-newsletter]Former Alabama QB Taulia Tagovailoa is headed to the Big Ten Conference. The younger brother of Tua Tagovailoa, the 2020 first round NFL draft pick of the Miami Dolphins, is transferring to Maryland he announced Friday.

A consensus four-star recruit coming out of high school, Tagovailoa originally chose Alabama over the likes of Florida and LSU.

Last season at Alabama, the younger Tagovailoa appeared in five games while playing sparingly in those appearances. He finished the year 9-12 passing with 100 total yards and a touchdown. The news comes just a couple of months after former Maryland QB Tyrrell Pigrome transferred from the program to Western Kentucky, leaving a spot open at the position.

Wisconsin will see Maryland on the road on October 24, 2020.

Best corner in class of 2021, Tony Grimes, shares Ohio State graphic, sets announcement on final three

The top cornerback in the 2021 class, Tony Grimes, shared a graphic that seems to confirm his serious interest in Ohio State.

It’s no secret that Ohio State’s 2021 recruiting class is on absolute fire. It’s easily the No. 1 ranked class according to the 247Sports Team Composite Rankings, and it’s still in line for some other highly touted prospects.

One of those is the class’ top cornerback, Tony Grimes. At 6-foot, 180-pounds, and out of Virginia Beach, VA, he’s a talent almost every blue-blood program is after. His relationship with Ohio State has been a curious one, but he recently included the Buckeyes in his top eight.

Since then, there’s been a couple of other developments. Just this past week, Grimes announced his intention of trimming his list down to a final three on May 31. At that point, we’ll find out if OSU is really in the running, or if it was just a flirtatious affair that began to warm up a bit.

The other interesting nugget is that Grimes shared a graphic on Friday that shows a lot of love to Ohio State. It tags defensive coordinator Kerry Coombs and seems to send a message to the college football world that his interest in the Buckeyes is a legitimate one.

Now, we’re not entirely sure what the mountains and lakes are all about in the background, but this is a clearly a nod in the direction of OSU. It might be a good sign that things are heating to a boil when it comes to the relationship between Grimes and the Ohio State coaching staff.

At this point, things seem to be trending well for the Buckeyes to be included in his final three scheduled for release at the end of May, but you just never know in the game of big-time college football recruiting.

Needless to say, we’ll have more on this when the end of the month rolls around.

4-star 2021 Georgia defensive back commit David Daniel has joined Brock Vandagriff in the efforts to recruit the top talent of the 2021 class to Athens.

On Thursday, Daniel tweeted at 4-star defensive end Dallas Turner and 4-star outside linebacker Xavian Sorey to come ‘eat’ with him.

Turner and Sorey are both from Florida, and Daniel, the Woodstock, Georgia native, is making a push for the Floridians to come team up with him in Athens.

Turner is the No. 3 weak-side defensive end recruit in the 2021 class, standing at 6-foot-4, 235 pounds. According to the 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions, Turner is expected to sign with the Dawgs.

Sorey stands at 6-foot-3, 215 pounds and is the No. 1 outside linebacker in the 2021 class, per 247Sports. 247Sports Crystal Ball predictions currently have Sorey going to Alabama.

Recruits recruiting recruits has been a theme with the Dawgs’ incoming 2021 class, helping Kirby Smart and his coaching staff reel in more of the nation’s top players.

Notre Dame Football: Friday Night Sees Three New Offers in ’22 Class

The Irish staff was busy last night, offering three offensive lineman from the 2022 recruiting class.

It was a busy day for the Irish staff, offering three prospects in the 2022 class, each of them an offensive tackles. These offers are very much in line with the offensive lineman recruiting plan, go after mostly tackles and a few guards and centers when needed.

The first reported offer was from Kentucky’s Grant Bingham. The 6’6” and 302-pound tackle has added Michigan, Purdue and Georgia Tech offers this month as we could be seeing Bingham’s recruitment starting to blow up.

Bingham’s Johnson Central High likes to use his athleticism to their advantage, often pulling him as a lead blocker. When he gets to the second level, Bingham manhandles linebackers and defensive backs. The sophomore is a great looking prospect and the Irish getting out an offer early hopefully grabs Bingham’s attention.

Next up was Virginia’s Zach Rice as the Irish join numerous other high level offers for the lineman which include LSU, Ohio State, USC and Georgia. It’s safe to say the 6’6” and 282-pound Rice is already a national prospect.

Rice looks very lean and should be able to add good weight while retaining his athleticism as he gets older. He has great feet and when Rice adds on more weight, he will be a devastating blocker. Another great offer out by the Irish staff.

Last but not least was New Jersey’s Jacob Allen another national prospect. The Irish joined Oklahoma, Auburn, Florida and others for the 6’6” and 275-pound in the battle for the tackles commitment.

Allen is ranked by 247Sports as the 106th prospect in the country and the 10th tackle, the only one of the three currently ranked. At this point in time, he looks like the furthest along as a pass protector. Allen getting an early offer puts the Irish in a good position early on in his recruitment

The busy day for the Irish staff will hopefully pay off down the road. At the current moment, the 2022 Notre Dame recruiting class has no commitments. It’s still very early for that cycle but getting offers out to top level prospects at this point is a good sign.
