Seahawks 2023 practice squad tracker: DE Hamilcar Rashed signs

Our practice squad tracker is updated.

The Seattle Seahawks lost their second-year outside linebacker Tyreke Smith this week when he was signed by the Arizona Cardinals off their practice squad. The team has just announced that they’ve signed former Oregon State defensive end Hamilcar Rashed to take Smith’s place.

Our practice squad tracker is updated (Dec. 15).

Seahawks 53-man roster tracker: Leonard Williams in, Cody Thompson out

Here’s the updated 53-man roster by jersey number going into tomorrow’s game against the Cleveland Browns.

The Seahawks are serious about making a deep postseason run this year. Just hours after their home win over the Browns, Seattle pulled off a trade that should help them get there. The front office has sent a 2024 second-round pick and a 2025 fifth-rounder to the Giants in exchange for Leonard Williams, one of the top interior pass rushers in the league.

To make room for Wiliams, the Seahawks have waived wide receiver Cody Thompson. Our roster tracker is now updated (Oct. 31).

DK Metcalf gets fined by the NFL again, plus 2 other Seahawks

That makes the fourth time that Metcalf has been fined by the league so far this season.

Colts vs. Bears: 6 things to know in preseason Week 2

Here are six things to know entering the preseason Week 2 matchup.

The Indianapolis Colts host Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears at Lucas Oil Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 19, for their second preseason game.

After hosting two joint practices with the Bears this week, the team will continue the battle on familiar turf against the squad led by Matt Eberflus.

Here are the six things to know for Week 2 of the preseason:

Colts sign S Teez Tabor

The Colts are adding free-agent safety Teez Tabor.

The Indianapolis Colts signed free-agent safety Teez Tabor, the team announced Monday.

Given the injuries currently in the room to Rodney Thomas II (toe) and Julian Blackmon (hamstring), it makes sense the Colts would be looking to add some depth and competition to the position.

Tabor, 27, was a second-round pick in the 2017 NFL draft with the Detroit Lions. However, he spent just two seasons in Detroit and then spent time with the San Francisco 49ers (2019), Chicago Bears (2020-2021), Atlanta Falcons (2022) and Seattle Seahawks (2022).

In 38 career games (seven starts), Tabor has recorded 59 tackles (47 solo) but has yet to record an interception or pass defensed in his career.

With Ryan Neal out, Seahawks will rotate these 2 safeties vs. Chiefs

Unfortunately, Neal has been ruled out for tomorrow’s game against the Chiefs due to a knee injury.

Seahawks fans have enjoyed several pleasant surprises this season, the most recent being the play of backup safety Ryan Neal. He’s performed so well that he’s now the highest-graded safety in the NFL this season according to Pro Football Focus.

Unfortunately, Neal has been ruled out for tomorrow’s game against the Chiefs due to a knee injury. Asked yesterday what the plan was, coach Pete Carrol said the team would rotate Teez Tabor and Johnathan Abram at the safety spot opposite Quandre Diggs.

One can see why Carroll likes Abram’s game – his physicality and range in particular make him valuable near the box. However, coverage is far from his strong suit. Meanwhile, Tabor has never really caught on after the Lions picked him in the second round of the 2017 draft and this is his first season playing safety.

Going against Patrick Mahomes this is pretty far from an ideal situation.

Looking ahead, Neal will be a restricted free agent next year so it’ll be easy for the Seahawks to bring him back. The question is whether or not he could replace Jamal Adams, who hasn’t been able to stay on the field.

Keeping up with some former Lions around the league

Here are a few notable former Lions and what’s going on with them around the NFL

The NFL’s daily transaction wire has featured a few former Detroit Lions players in the last few days. A couple made the news feed, too. Here are a few notable former Lions and what’s going on with them around the NFL.

Jamal Adams to have season-ending quad surgery, go on injured reserve

Seahawks strong safety Jamal Adams will have surgery on his injured quad and will miss the rest of the regular season, according to a report by Ian Rapoport at NFL Network.

Seahawks strong safety Jamal Adams will have surgery on his injured quad and will miss the rest of the regular season, according to a report by Ian Rapoport at NFL Network. He will be placed on the injured reserve list.

Adams suffered the injury early in his team’s Week 1 win over the Broncos. After bringing down Russell Wilson on a blitz, Adams came up after the play limping. He was immediately carted off to the locker room and did not return to the game.

This is the latest in a string of major injuries for Adams since he was traded from the Jets. Adams missed four games last season due to shoulder injuries after missing the same amount the prior season for a similar issue. Adams also broke his finger on the first practice of training camp this year.

Seattle is signing cornerback Teez Tabor off the Falcons’ practice squad to take Adams’ place on the roster, per Rapoport.

Seahawks poach DB Teez Tabor off Falcons’ practice squad

The Seattle Seahawks claimed defensive back Teez Tabor off the Atlanta Falcons’ 16-man practice squad.

The Seattle Seahawks signed defensive back Teez Tabor off the Atlanta Falcons’ 16-man practice squad on Thursday, according to a report from Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network.

Tabor, who had a strong training camp and preseason, will help the Seahawks replace injured safety Jamal Adams.

This left the Falcons with an opening on their practice squad, which the team used to sign running back BJ Baylor, an undrafted free agent out of Oregon State.

Baylor gives Atlanta some more depth at running back since Damien Williams has missed the last two days of practice.

Check out the team’s full 16-man practice squad heading into Sunday’s matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.
