5 NFL free agents who could help your playoff-bound team, including Ndamukong Suh

Which NFL free agents could help your playoff-bound team? There are some good names out there.

The NFL playoffs are right around the corner, and postseason-bound teams are looking over the state of their rosters for a January push.

The Baltimore Ravens bolstered their offense by signing running back Dalvin Cook to the practice squad on Thursday, hinting that more signings like it could be on the way for playoff football.

While some of the players on this list haven’t played all that much this season (if at all), they’re all proven veterans who could factor in for a couple of games to help a team compete for a Super Bowl.

Let’s run down five of these names and try to identify how they could help and which teams make the most sense at this point.

Dolphins hosted an old friend for a visit on Wednesday

Miami hosts an old friend for a visit.

The Miami Dolphins have been doing their due diligence all season to keep tabs on the free agents available at positions that could pop up as needs if a player were to suffer an injury.

One name that the Dolphins had in for a visit on Wednesday should be familiar to most fans – defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh.

Suh, 36, played for Miami from 2015-17, earning Pro Bowl honors in 2016. He joined the Philadelphia Eagles for eight games last season, posting 10 tackles and a sack while playing 35% of the defensive snaps.

The Dolphins could always use the depth in the middle, but if they’re considering bringing the former first-round pick on, it may have to be on the practice squad at first.

However, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport has reported that nothing is imminent.

Dan Campbell weighs in on any Lions interest in Ndamukong Suh

Detroit head coach Dan Campbell weighs in on any Lions interest in veteran DT Ndamukong Suh

The Detroit Lions added a defensive lineman who was selected in the first 10 picks of the 2010 NFL draft this week. However, it wasn’t the one most Lions fans wanted or even knew about.

On Tuesday, the Lions signed veteran Tyson Alualu to the practice squad. He was the No. 10 overall pick in the 2010 draft by the Jacksonville Jaguars. It was not Ndamukong Suh, the former Lions All-Pro who still remains a free agent.

Head coach Dan Campbell addressed the elephant in the room that is Suh during his press conference before Wednesday’s practice.

When asked specifically about Suh, Campbell broadened the response outside of the No. 2 pick in the 2010 NFL draft.

“Yeah, listen, (GM) Brad (Holmes) has looked at all of it,” Campbell said. “We haven’t overlooked anybody. We’ve got it all up there. We’ve looked at everybody. At this moment, we’ve made the decision we’ve felt like was best for us.”

Suh played eight games for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2022, signing midway into the campaign. He recorded 10 tackles in one sack. The 36-year-old has bounced around lately, playing for Miami (including a few games under Campbell as the interim head coach) and Tampa Bay as well as Philadelphia over the last five seasons.

Earlier this fall, the Baltimore Ravens reached out to Suh but were unable to lure him to play. He had previously thrown his hat into the ring to join the coaching staff at his alma mater, Nebraska. No other teams are publicly known to have pursued Suh, though Campbell’s statement indicates the Lions have discussed him internally. Even after losing top DT Alim McNeill, the Lions still apparently don’t see a fit with Suh.

Ndamukong Suh wants to join a contender and says Ravens have reached out

Ndamukong Suh wants to join a playoff contender and says the Baltimore #Ravens have reached out

Ndamukong Suh is a free agent, and after coming close to securing another Super Bowl with the Eagles, he was in no rush to retire.

Suh waited until November before signing with Philadelphia in 2022, and during an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show, Suh said, “All options are on the table” when asked about 2023.

“I don’t know yet. It’s gotta be, honestly, the right situation. . . . I’ll say this, all options are on the table,” Suh said.

It’s almost November 2023, and Suh is ready to join a contender. And the Baltimore Ravens have been one of the initial teams to reach out.

Suh had this to say on Sky Sports.

The former Nebraska star had ten tackles and a sack in eight regular season appearances for the Eagles, helping solidify the middle along with Linval Joseph after Jordan Davis suffered a high ankle sprain.

Husker legends named to Bleacher Reports All-Time player list

Under the new leadership of Matt Rhule, Nebraska is looking to go back to the days when they were among the top programs in the country.

Under the new leadership of Matt Rhule, Nebraska is looking to go back to the days when they were among the top programs in the country. You have to go back to 2012 as the last time the Huskers competed for a conference title.

In fact, Nebraska hasn’t won a conference title since 1999. Since the days of Bo Pelini, who never posted a season below nine wins, Nebraska has only reached that mark once.

The current run of mediocrity and below-average play highlights how far off the Huskers are today compared to where they rank in the history books. In Bleacher Reports’ top-30 players all-time, they included four Huskers legends. Of the top 30 players, Nebraska fields the second most players.

5 defensive lineman the Vikings can sign after James Lynch injury

After the season ending torn ACL for James Lynch, there are talented players that the Minnesota Vikings can still sign.

The Minnesota Vikings got some unfortunate news on Thursday when NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero reported that defensive lineman James Lynch suffered a torn ACL during Thursday’s practice.

The defensive line room has a lot of question marks. Two of the candidates to make the roster are fifth-round picks Esezi Otomewo and Jaquelin Roy and the rest are journeymen or undrafted free agents.

If the Vikings don’t believe in the depth they currently have sans Lynch, they could look to the free-agent market. Here are five players available the Vikings could target.

List of notable free agents after first week of training camp

There are some big-name options still available in free agency.

It’s usually slim pickings on the free agent market around this time of the year, but surprisingly, there are still several big-name players out there that remain unsigned.

Most of the notable talent is at the running back position with at least two or three potential NFL starters on the list. The Patriots could certainly use help at that position with Ty Montgomery going down with an injury.

They have mostly leaned on Kevin Harris and Pierre Strong Jr. as their top options behind Rhamondre Stevenson. Harris looks the most improved of the two, and they could make the decision to stick with him in the end.

However, they have visited with a few players on this list, including Ezekiel Elliott, Darrell Henderson and Leonard Fournette.

They’ve also reportedly considered a future visit with Dalvin Cook.

But there are more than just running backs on this list of NFL talent. Let’s take a look at some of the more notable unsigned free agents.

5 free agents Chiefs could target after John Ross’ unexpected retirement

John Ross’ surprise retirement on Wednesday left a hole on the #Chiefs’ roster. Here are five free agents who could fill the gap:

The Kansas City Chiefs have an open spot on their 90-man roster after the unexpected retirement of wide receiver John Ross on Wednesday. Though they still seem comfortable with the construction of their team, general manager Brett Veach and head coach Andy Reid won’t let the vacancy linger for too long.

Here are five players that the Chiefs could consider signing from the NFL’s loaded pool of veteran free agents:

10 free agent defensive linemen Broncos should consider signing

The Broncos’ defensive line depth was thin even before Eyioma Uwazurike was suspended. Here’s a quick list of 10 free agents available.

The Denver Broncos’ defensive line depth chart took another hit on Monday.

The league announced that Broncos second-year defensive lineman Eyioma Uwazurike has been suspended indefinitely for betting on NFL games in 2022. Even before losing Uwazurike for at least the 2023 season, Denver’s defensive line depth was already thin.

The Broncos lost both Dre’Mont Jones and DeShawn Williams — their starting defensive ends in 2022 — during free agency this spring. Zach Allen was signed to replace Jones, but the team did not sign a direct replacement for Williams, who started 15 games last season.

With Uwazurike suspended, the team’s remaining defensive linemen are Allen, D.J. Jones, Mike Purcell, Matt Henningsen, Jonathan Harris, Tyler Lancaster, Jordan Jackson, Elijah Garcia, PJ Mustipher and Haggai Ndubuisi.

Purcell will begin training camp this week on the non-football injury list after undergoing surgery this offseason. With Purcell sidelined, Henningsen (a second-year player with no starts on his resume) is currently the team’s No. 3 defensive lineman behind Allen and Jones.

It seems fair to say Denver could use some more depth at the position. Here’s a quick list of 10 free agent defensive linemen the Broncos should consider signing following Uwazurike’s suspension.

Most notable free agent from each NFL team who remains unsigned in 2023

Our NFL Wire editors identified the most notable free agent from each team who remains unsigned.

We’ve reached the dead portion of the 2023 NFL offseason, where teams are wrapping up their offseason programs with mandatory minicamp before breaking for the summer.

As teams ready their training camp rosters, there are still some notable free agents on the open market who could help shore up positions of need. That includes wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, edge rusher

Jadeveon Clowney, kicker Robbie Gould and (unofficially) running back Dalvin Cook.
