Chiefs WR DeAndre Hopkins scores touchdown in Super Bowl LIX

#Chiefs WR DeAndre Hopkins scored a touchdown in Kansas City’s Super Bowl LIX matchup against the Philadelphia #Eagles.

The Kansas City Chiefs may lose their matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX, but fans in Western Missouri are sure to have been pleased when they saw that veteran wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins scored a touchdown in the game’s fourth quarter.

Hopkins, who made his first Super Bowl appearance in the championship tilt, joined Kansas City via trade during the regular season after the Chiefs saw their depth at the wide receiver position affected by a series of injuries.

Though Hopkins’ score came far too late to alter the final score in a meaningful way, it helped the final score of Kansas City’s matchup against the Eagles.

It is unclear whether the Chiefs will elect to bring Hopkins back next season, but even if the veteran wideout’s time in Kansas City ends after Super Bowl LIX, his outstanding touchdown catch will forever be a part of the team’s history in the championship game.

Dominant defense, Jalen Hurts lifts Eagles to a 40-22 win over Chiefs in Super Bowl 59

Dominant defense, Jalen Hurts lifts Eagles to a 40-22 win over Chiefs in Super Bowl 59

In what can only be described as a beatdown, the Eagles exacted revenge on the Chiefs, winning Super Bowl LIX in dominant fashion, 40-22.

Vic Fangio’s No. 1 ranked defense held Kansas City to 275 yards of total offense and 3-11 on third downs, with Patrick Mahomes getting sacked six times on the night. Philadelphia quarterback Jalen Hurts was 17 of 22 passing for 221 yards, two touchdowns, one interception, and a 119.7 passer rating.

Kansas City scored 16 fourth-quarter points, but it was too late as the Eagles jumped out to a 34-6 lead in the third quarter and bullied the Chiefs throughout the contest. In what can only be described as a team win, the Eagles won despite Saquon Barkley getting held to 57 yards on 25 carries.

Jalen Hurts led the Eagles with a Super Bowl record of 11 carries for 72 yards and one rushing touchdown.

With Barkley shut down, DeVonta Smith had four catches for 69 yards (17.3 avg) and one touchdown.  A.J. Brown had three catches for 43 yards and a touchdown.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes finds WR Xavier Worthy for TD in Super Bowl LIX

#Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes threw a touchdown pass to rookie WR Xavier Worthy in Kansas City’s Super Bowl LIX matchup against the #Eagles.

Kansas City Chiefs fans had to wait three quarters to see their favorite team score points against the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX.

Though the Chiefs have tried their best to gain any sort of momentum against the Eagles’ outstanding defense, star quarterback Patrick Mahomes wasn’t able to get in rhythm early in the game.

In the third quarter, Mahomes finally managed to break through and found rookie wide receiver Xavier Worthy for a touchdown that cut Kansas City’s deficit to 28 points.

Check out this video of Mahomes’ connection with Worthy, which was posted to the Chiefs’ official Twitter account during Super Bowl LIX:

Though it seems like it would be impossible for Kansas City to make a 28-point comeback in the fourth quarter, the Chiefs can never be counted out with Mahomes under center.

Stay tuned to see if Mahomes can make magic happen in the fourth quarter of Super Bowl LIX.

Chiefs face huge deficit vs. Eagles at Super Bowl LIX halftime

The Kansas City #Chiefs face a huge deficit against the Philadelphia #Eagles heading into halftime at Super Bowl LIX.

The Kansas City Chiefs are in dire straits after letting the Philadelphia Eagles get out to a 24-0 lead in the first half of Super Bowl LIX.

Star quarterback Patrick Mahomes has been unable to get Kansas City’s offense in gear through two quarters and threw a pair of untimely interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown by Eagles defensive back Cooper DeJean.

The Chiefs’ offensive line was a total liability for Mahomes throughout the first half, allowing the veteran signal-caller to be sacked three times, and letting Philadelphia generate pressure on nearly every passing play.

Though the Chiefs have become masters at winning games in comeback fashion, Kansas City have likely dug themselves into a hole that is too deep to climb out of.

The Super Bowl LIX halftime show, which is set to be headlined by acclaimed rapper Kendrick Lamar, will give the Chiefs a chance to reassess their game plan for the third and fourth quarters.

Stay tuned to see if Kansas City can make an epic comeback to complete the NFL’s first-ever Super Bowl three-peat.

Saquon Barkley breaks Terrell Davis’ record for best rushing season in NFL history

Saquon Barkley has passed Hall of Famer Terrell Davis for the most rushing yards in a single season, playoffs included.

Going into Sunday’s game against the Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley was just 30 yards away from breaking Terrell Davis’ record for the most rushing yards in a single season (playoffs included).

Barkley finished the day with 57 rushing yards, breaking the record.

Davis, a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, originally set the record when he totaled 2,331 yards with the Denver Broncos in 1997. One year later, TD broke his own record by rushing for 2,476 yards in 1998.

Both marks have now been passed by Barkley, who had 2,447 rushing yards going into Super Bowl LIX. Sunday marked Barkley’s 20th game this season, and he finished the year with 436 carries. Davis got 470 carries in 19 games in 1998.

Most rushing yards in a season (playoffs included)

  1. Saquon Barkley: 2,504 yards (2024)

  4. Eric Dickerson: 2,212 yards (1984)
  5. Adrian Peterson: 2,196 yards (2012)

Barkley averaged 5.48 yards per carry and 124.75 yards per game in the playoffs this year. Davis averaged 6.0/156.0 during the 1998 playoffs.

Watch this video of #Chiefs DB Bryan Cook’s epic interception in Kansas City’s Super Bowl LIX matchup against the Philadelphia #Eagles.

The Kansas City Chiefs got off to a slow start in Super Bowl LIX against the Philadelphia Eagles, but the defending champions seemed to have turned a corner.

After an early touchdown by the Eagles to start the game via the controversial “brotherly shove” Kansas City found itself down seven points to start the game.

The Eagles were well on their way to another score when Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts threw a pass that was intercepted by Chiefs defensive back Bryan Cook, which gave Kansas City a chance to even the score.

Take a look at Cook’s epic interception in this video, which was posted to Twitter by the Chiefs’ official account:

Though Kansas City’s next drive ended in a punt after Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was unable to get the team’s offense in gear, the defending champions are still very much in the game.
