C.J. Gardner-Johnson was hilarious while mic’d up at Super Bowl LIX Opening Night

Philadelphia Eagles star safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson was hilarious while mic’d up at Super Bowl LIX Opening Night

C.J. Gardner-Johnson’s departure is the mistake that Howie Roseman corrected. The boisterous defensive back will have the most pivotal role as we approach Super Bowl LIX, which is a little over 52 hours away.

Gardner-Johnson returned to Philadelphia after one year in Detroit. He re-energized the Eagles’ defense and stabilized Vic Fangio’s backend. The former Florida Gators defensive back is also a rapper and content creator in his off-time.

With Super Bowl opening night being the a ‘Movie’, it was only right that a mic’d up Gardner-Johnson got to direct the show.

Gardner-Johnson tied for the 3rd-most interceptions (career-high-tying 6) in the league, trailing only Kerby Joseph (9) and Xavier McKinney (8). According to PFF, he is 3rd among NFL safeties with nine forced incompletions, behind Brian Branch (12) and Ar’Darius Washington (10).

Bengals’ Orlando Brown Jr. provides injury update as offseason starts

An injury update on Orlando Brown Jr., who remains in Cincinnati.

Cincinnati Bengals offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr. played through a broken leg to finish the season and is now on the mend.

According to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com, Brown has once again remained in Cincinnati for the offseason and has limited himself to upper-body weightlifting while his broken leg recovers.

“My leg is feeling much better. It’s callousing over,” Brown said. “I can’t just sit around this time of year and not do anything. I’ve got to be doing something.”

It’s a key offseason for Brown to get right as he’s expected to once again man the left tackle spot in front of Joe Burrow. He’ll do so as one of the returning veterans for a line that could undergo big changes this offseason under the guidance of a new line coach.

Brown, going on 29 years old, has two years left on his current contract.

Bengals’ Orlando Brown Jr. makes stunning admission about injury

Bengals OT Orlando Brown Jr. is as tough as it gets.

Most onlookers understood that Cincinnati Bengals left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. has been fighting through an injury late in the season.

After his the team’s stunning win over the Denver Broncos in Week 17, Brown revealed the full extent of his injury outlook.

According to Laurel Pfahler of the Dayton Daily News, Brown told reporters after the game that he’s playing through a broken fibula. While it comes down to pain management, the star said it is broken in two spots.

It’s a wild admission from Brown, who attempted to come back from what the team called a knee injury a few weeks ago, only to reaggravate the issue and miss more time.

Brown getting back on the field in Week 17 let the Bengals go back to a normal lineup in front of Joe Burrow, shifting Cody Ford back to guard in place of the benched Cordell Volson.

Rookie right tackle Amarius Mims attempted to play through injury against the Broncos, too, but got pulled early as one of the team’s notable injury updates.

Obviously, no word just yet on whether Brown will be out there against the Pittsburgh Steelers in the season finale with playoff hopes still alive, but based on Saturday, he’ll clearly do everything he can to make it happen.

Bengals get even more bad injury news before Week 14 vs. Cowboys

The injury bug just won’t leave the Bengals alone.

The Cincinnati Bengals just can’t catch a break when it comes to the injury bug.

Adding to the misery of the late-season rash of injuries ahead of Week 14, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor told reporters on Thursday that offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr. is doubtful for the game against the Dallas Cowboys.

Brown had missed a handful of games before Week 13, where he was clearly struggling wth an injury by the end of it.

With Brown out on Monday night, the Bengals could look to give Andrew Stueber a run at left tackle. Cody Ford just replaced Cordell Volson at left guard in a move that doesn’t sound like it will be reverted.

Still, the Bengals have the option at left tackle as they play out the rest of the year. They’ve already lost kicker Evan McPherson and linebacker Logan Wilson to injuries this week, too.

Bengals should get key piece of offense back for Week 13 vs. Steelers

A key name is about to make his return for the Bengals.

Joe Burrow’s Cincinnati Bengals offense should have a core piece back when they host the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 13.

There, all signs point toward a return for left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. on the edge.

Brown has missed three games due to a fibula injury but appears headed back to the field despite the questionable tag on the final injury report, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com:

But after Friday’s practice in the IEL Indoor Facility, head coach Zac Taylor said Brown is “in good shape.” He was listed as questionable, but after going limited Wednesday and Thursday Brown went full Friday for the first time since suffering the injury in the Oct. 27 game against the Eagles.

That left edge has experienced severe ups and downs with Cody Ford filling in while Brown was out.

And while it hasn’t stopped Burrow from making some consider him an MVP favorite, one has to wonder how a few of these closer games might’ve changed if the pockets had been just a little cleaner.

If nothing else, it sounds like the Bengals will be at full strength along one of the most important units.

Bengals get bad Orlando Brown Jr. injury update before SNF vs. Chargers

An NFL insider updates Orlando Brown Jr.’s status for Week 11.

It sounds like Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals won’t have starting left tackle Orlando Brown Jr. for Sunday night’s Week 11 clash with the Los Angeles Chargers.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Brown’s status will end up on the inactive side of the 50-50 questionable tag.

Rapoport wrote the following on Sunday morning: “Orlando Brown Jr., who is dealing with knee and fibula injuries, is not expected to play today, sources say. He’s listed as questionable.”

Brown had previously tried to play through an injury before getting shut down. Cody Ford will start in his place and has earned a 50.0 PFF grade so far this year.

Tackle depth is precariously thin for Cincinnati with rookie Amarius Mims starting on the right side after Trent Brown was lost to a season-ending injury.

Trey Hendrickson, Orlando Brown injury status updated for Bengals vs. Chargers

Some key updates on injured Bengals players before the Week 11 game vs. Chargers.

The Cincinnati Bengals had several big names on the injury report before the Week 11 game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Tops among those was wideout Tee Higgins, but his latest update is good news. More concerning, instead, are the statuses of offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr. and defensive end Trey Hendrickson.

On the final injury report before Sunday night, both guys are officially listed as questionable.

Brown attempted to play through a leg injury recently, then sat out in favor of Cody Ford while he heals. He was a limited participant on Thursday, then didn’t work on Friday.

Hendrickson is more complicated. He had limited practice on Wednesday, then missed the next two days. The team initially listed his reason as a neck injury, but later tacked on “rest and personal” reasons to the report.

According to Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic, Hendrickson won’t travel with the team to Los Angeles on Friday — but will travel the next day and is still expected to play on Sunday.

Hendrickson’s actual snap counts will be interesting to watch, all things considered. Brown is a trickier subject and a true 50-50 chance at this point.

5 Bengals players to watch in Week 11 vs. Chargers

Despite their under-.500 record, the Bengals are still littered with talent all over the field, particularly on offense.

It’s been a difficult season for the Cincinnati Bengals, who sit at 4-6 after another heartbreaking loss in Week 10. Don’t let the record fool you though, this is still a dangerous football team, particularly on the offensive side of the ball.

It may be the biggest challenge of the year for Chargers defensive coordinator Jesse Minter. Another loss and the Bengals may lose any hope of sneaking into the postseason. Here are some players from the Bengals that the Chargers must keep an eye on this upcoming weekend:

WR Ja’Marr Chase

Let’s start with the best player on the field. Chase is one of the best wideouts in all of football, and he’s been exceptional in 2024. Heading into Week 11, he leads the NFL in catches (66), receiving yards (981), and receiving touchdowns (10). While the team’s record isn’t what they expected it to be, Chase has been nothing short of phenomenal.

TE Mike Gesicki

Gesicki has turned into an underrated signing for Cincinnati. In 10 contests, his 383 receiving yards ranks eighth amongst tight ends. With Tee Higgins out due to injury recently, Gesicki has turned into a nice secondary option in the passing game. The former Penn State product is second on the team in receiving yards behind Chase. He has 16 catches, 203 receiving yards, and two touchdowns over the last three games.

OT Orlando Brown

Brown signed a massive $64 million deal back in 2023, and it’s come with mixed results thus far. He’s been solid for the Bengals, but not quite worth that kind of money. The trenches will be a deciding factor in this weekend’s game, and that starts with Brown against the Chargers’ stellar pass rushers. Los Angeles tied for fourth in the NFL in sacks (31), so this will be a huge matchup to watch.

EDGE Trey Hendrickson

Hendrickson continues to fly under the radar around the NFL. He’s been a monster this season, as he leads the league in sacks (11.0) and is a frontrunner for NFL Defensive Player of the Year. Hendrickson has added in 28 total tackles, three pass deflections, and a forced fumble. The Chargers have two legitimate offensive tackles, but they will be put to the test against this front.

CB Mike Hilton

Hilton is one of the best slot cornerbacks in the NFL, and he’s proved that again in 2024. His matchup against Ladd McConkey will be a deciding factor in this AFC matchup. Hilton always plays a physical brand of football and is known for being an exceptional blitzer as well.

Bengals injury updates on Tee Higgins, Orlando Brown aren’t encouraging

The latest on injured Bengals before Week 11.

It’s early, but it sounds like the Cincinnati Bengals could be without two key names again, this time for the Week 11 showdown with the Los Angeles Chargers.

Wide receiver Tee Higgins is in danger of missing his fourth straight game due to a quad injury suffered in practice, while offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr. is still battling back from an injury of his own.

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor advised caution when asked about the fact both guys participated in an early-week walkthrough.

“Walkthrough is pretty easy to participate in, so I wouldn’t read too much into that. We’ll get to Wednesday and see where it’s at,” Taylor said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “Everything was positive.”

In other words, both guys remain day-to-day at best.

With Higgins, the nagging soft-tissue injuries are also tricky. A different soft-tissue setback cost him games to start the season, too. The Bengals didn’t put him on injured reserve, requiring him to miss four games, but he might anyway with a Week 12 bye looming.

As for Brown, he sounded close before last Thursday’s loss, but ultimately the team didn’t push it. Early this week, he wasn’t ready to be super positive about his outlook either.

“I’m going to see how the week goes, I’ve missed the last two so I’m not one hundred percent sure yet,” Brown said, according to Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer.

All eyes go to the injury reports starting Wednesday, but Higgins and Brown still sound like question marks at best.
