Watch: Orlando Brown Jr. mic’d up for Bengals

Orlando Brown Jr. was mic’d up for the Bengals and it’s as good as fans would expect.

Cincinnati Bengals mic’d up sessions are always a fun behind-the-scenes look at the team and players each time they come out.

That’s no exception this week as the team exits its Week 12 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers despite the drab overarching storylines surrounding the team right now.

This time, the mic’d up centers on offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr., though the footage captures a ton of other players in the process, too. One of the big notable moments is the recovered fumble and big return for rookie cornerback DJ Turner.

As always, the entire bit of footage — though brief — is worth a quick look for fans.

Week 11 picks: Who the experts are taking in Eagles vs. Chiefs

Philadelphia and Kansas City are just days away from a Monday night showdown and we’re looking at who the NFL experts are picking in Eagles vs. Chiefs

After a bye week that should allow both teams a renewed freshness, the Eagles and Chiefs are set for a semi-Super Bowl rematch at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium on ESPN’s Monday Night Football.

The two teams last met on Feb. 12 in Super Bowl LVII.

Kansas City defeated Philadelphia 38-35 in that matchup to earn their third Lombardi Trophy in franchise history. The Chiefs enter Monday’s matchup on top of the AFC with a 7-2 record after defeating the Miami Dolphins 21-14 in Germany on Nov. 5.

Kansas City is looking to lock up an eighth-straight AFC West title.

Philadelphia is 8-1 and on top of the NFC East after a 33-28 win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 9.

With kickoff fast approaching, we’re looking at who the NFL experts are picking.

Bengals teammates talk about Joe Burrow’s toughness

Bengals teammates are wowed with Joe Burrow again.

The Cincinnati Bengals improved to 4-3 with a win over the San Francisco 49ers in Week 8 and Joe Burrow was nearly perfect, going 28 of 32 throwing the ball for 283 yards and three touchdowns,

After starting 1-3 while Burrow struggled to heal from a calf injury that had been bothering him since the preseason, the Bengals have won three straight largely due to the quarterback looking like his old self before he was hurt. His teammates told Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com they know how tough it was for him to come back and look like himself.

“Yeah. He looked like himself. That’s who he is,” left tackle Orlando Brown said. “That’s why I’ve got so much respect for him. He keeps playing hard. He never gives in.”

Wide receiver Tyler Boyd thinks the Bengals are a top team in the NFL if Burrow is playing like he did in San Francisco.

“It is huge. It let everyone know that we are back,” Boyd said. “They are one of the top teams in the NFC. It’s on high alert now. We are the team to beat. We will continue to be that team. It’s us. Who Dey.”

The Bengals have a tough schedule ahead of them, but Boyd is right in saying they will be tough to beat with Burrow back at full health playing like he is.

“When he’s 28-for-32, it’s going to be hard to stop us when he’s able to do that,” Jonah Williams said. “When we’re rushing for over 130 with the playmakers we have.”

Bengals OT Orlando Brown Jr. sounds ahead of schedule in injury recovery

An interesting comment from the Bengals about Orlando Brown Jr.’s injury.

Right after the bye week, Cincinnati Bengals offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr. created a stir on social media briefly because he wasn’t working Monday’s practice.

But Brown and Bengals head coach Zac Taylor followed that up by revealing that Monday was essentially another rest day for the left tackle and that he would still be able to play in Week 8 against the San Francisco 49ers.

Wednesday, Taylor revealed a little more about the situation, though, as captured by CLNS Media’s Mike Petraglia: “He’s probably progressing better than we thought he would last week.”

That says a lot about the seriousness of the groin issue that knocked Brown out of the eventual win over the Seattle Seahawks before the bye.

There, Cody Ford replaced Brown in an emergency situation and would have gotten the start against the 49ers, too.

But from the sounds of it, Brown’s back a little faster than the Bengals might have projected, which is good news going into a game against Nick Bosa and that 49ers defense.

Brown went limited on the first injury report of the week.

Orlando Brown loved the way Brian Callahan called out Bengals offense

Brian Callahan called out the offense and Orlando Brown Jr. says they got the message.

During the bye week, Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator Brian Callahan called out his offense, effectively saying that coming out of the break, it can’t just be the Ja’Marr Chase show.

Fast forward to this week, while the team preps to take on the San Francisco 49ers, offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr. says that message was received loud and clear in the locker room.

In fact, Brown revealed that those things Callahan said were first said in a behind-closed-doors meeting before the team split for the bye week.

“I have the utmost respect for B.C. The way he carries himself and handles his business. I can’t say enough great things about him,” Brown said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “That meeting was somewhat needed. Make sure everyone had their mind right. Especially heading into the bye. Everybody got it, but that’s how it should be.

Brown continued: “He was just being honest. You need those things at times. I believe every man in this locker room holds themselves accountable … To have B.C. call us out, kind of let guys know in front of our coaches and our peers (is good). ‘Hey, this has to be better. This has to be better. This is good, but this can be better.'” …

Callahan’s offense started the season much as it has every year of his tenure, slow and struggling. While blame could go to things like Joe Burrow’s calf injury robbing the unit of summer reps, little things like bad communication along the offensive line and outright drops from even star players didn’t help.

Whatever the reasoning, as expected, it sounds like Bengals leaders got the messaging right and players have responded equally as expected.

As for Brown, he says he’s good to go for Week 8 against the 49ers despite the injury before the bye.

Orlando Brown Jr. injury status updated as Bengals return to practice

An update on the injury status of Bengals OT Orlando Brown Jr. after the bye.

Cincinnati Bengals offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr. caused fans some brief concern on Monday when he wasn’t spotted at practice until late in the session.

But it turns out all is well for Brown, who aggravated a groin injury two weeks ago during the win over the Seahawks before the bye.

According to Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic, Brown told reporters he’ll be good to go for next Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers. Bengals head coach Zac Taylor said Monday was effectively a bonus day of rest before practice really ramps up later in the week.

While Cody Ford stepped in nicely for the Bengals on an emergency basis against the Seahawks, they’ll need their big free-agent acquisition from this past summer to step up against Nick Bosa and a talented 49ers defense.

The first big measure of Brown’s status will happen Wednesday when the team puts out its first official injury report since before the bye week.

Why Bengals turned to Cody Ford after Orlando Brown Jr. injury

Bengals coaches explain why Cody Ford got the call when Orlando Brown Jr. went down.

It was Cody Ford getting the call for the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 6 after Orlando Brown Jr. left the eventual win over the Seattle Seahawks.

Ford, a new arrival this offseason via free agency, has past experience at guard and tackle, with it initially reported that the Bengals brought him on to play right tackle.

But Zac Taylor and Co. had Ford at left tackle last Sunday in an emergency scenario.

“He stepped in there at left tackle and performed well. He did a good job in the run game, did a good job in the protections, so I was pleased with what Cody did,” Taylor said, according to Geoff Hobson of Bengals.com. “There were (preseason and practice) situations we put him in. He had played a lot of guard, but also at tackle he had gotten reps and we felt comfortable as the preseason had unfolded. They mix those reps around in practice. Frank does a good job of that to where it felt like he would be the first guy in at tackle there.”

It was pretty telling even before kickoff that D’Ante Smith, not Ford, was one of the inactives. And while the left side of the offensive line, including Cordell Volson, had some problems, this is a pretty big endorsement for Ford.

Joe Burrow’s line should get Brown back after the bye week at least, with Brown himself personally updating his status recently.

Orlando Brown Jr. says he will be back after bye week

An injury update on Bengals OT Orlando Brown Jr.

Cincinnati Bengals offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr. left Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks due to a groin injury.

As the Bengals biggest addition over the offseason to a line that has struggled to protect Joe Burrow for years now, it was concerning to see him leave the game. He didn’t return, but after the game he told Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer that he would be back after the bye week.

The Bengals are off in Week 7, so if there ever was a time for Brown to be slightly banged up, it would be when he can get an extra week of rest.

Brown initially suffered a groin injury against the Tennessee Titans but ended up playing the next week when the Bengals beat the Arizona Cardinals. However, this has been a lingering issue since that game.

With San Francisco and Buffalo coming up after the off week, the Bengals are going to need Brown to get healthy, so the bye week comes at a good time.

Bengals lose OT Orlando Brown Jr. to injury vs. Seahawks

Bengals OT Orlando Brown Jr. suffers an injury.

Cincinnati Bengals offensive tackle Orlando Brown Jr. left Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks with a groin injury.

Onlookers first noticed Brown missing from the game in the fourth quarter because it was Cody Ford out there playing left tackle next to Cordell Volson.

The Bengals later reported the groin injury, listing Brown as questionable to return.

Brown was the big-ticket addition to the offensive line this past offseason, so his absence is huge. Ford, who has experience at tackle and guard, came in because D’Ante Smith was one of the game-day inactives.

The Bengals have a bye next week, so the hope will have to be that Brown can be ready for the week after that.

Bengals injury report adds Chidobe Awuzie, Orlando Brown back full

The latest injury report features Chidobe Awuzie and Orlando Brown.

The Cincinnati Bengals injury report for Thursday featured many of the same names as the day prior, with some notable changes to statuses.

Joe Burrow again wasn’t listed at all, while Chidobe Awuzie was a new addition with a back issue:

  • QB Joe Burrow (not listed)
  • WR Tee Higgins (DNP)
  • CB Cam Taylor-Britt (LP)
  • CB Chidobe Awuzie (LP)
  • LB Akeem Davis-Gaither (DNP)
  • OT Orlando Brown Jr. (Full)
  • TE Irv Smith Jr. (Full)

Cam Taylor-Britt got some direct work in with coaches during the open portion of practice, which seems to hint he’s closer to leaving concussion protocol.

Tee Higgins, for the second day in a row, didn’t work as he deals with the rib fracture but has said he intends to attempt to play through the injury.
