Former Ohio State QB coach Corey Dennis changes teams again for the third time

Since getting let go from Ohio State, Dennis has now taken three different jobs …

It has been a whirlwind offseason for former Ohio State quarterback’s coach [autotag]Corey Dennis[/autotag].

After staring his career in Columbus in 2015, he rose from intern to graduate assistant, then as a quality control coach, and finally in 2020, was named the quarterbacks coach at Ohio State.

Dennis was let go earlier this year and quickly found a job as an offensive analyst with Utah. Shortly after that, he moved to Ole Miss, where he was set to be take over the same role.

Well, that wasn’t the last move for Dennis this offseason as he reunited with [autotag]Kevin Wilson[/autotag] at Tulsa to be their quarterbacks coach and passing game coordinator.

It was very odd to see a second and third move for Dennis, but it looks like he has found a home with Wilson.

Former Ohio State coach hired by Mississippi

Former Ohio State coach hired by Mississippi #GoBucks

The Corey Dennis chapter officially ended for Ohio State after this season finished. Head coach Ryan Day made the decision to not retain Dennis as an assistant after he completed his fourth season as quarterbacks coach. From there, Dennis seemed to have found a home at Utah as an analyst, but it was recently announced that he would instead be heading to the SEC and working as an analyst for Mississippi.

Dennis had a memorable 17-day run with Kyle Whittingham and the Utes, but he is once again moving on to greener pastures with Lane Kiffin at Mississippi.

Dennis was at Ohio State for the past nine seasons, getting his start as an intern under his father-in-law, Urban Meyer in 2015. He worked his way up from intern to graduate assistant to senior quality control coach and finally quarterbacks coach.

It is very telling that of the three Ohio State coaches looking for work, Dennis is the only one who has found a new home and it is a very clear demotion.

Corey Dennis appears to be out as quarterbacks coach at Ohio State

Ohio State reportedly set to part ways with quarterbacks coach Corey Dennis. #GoBucks

New dropped earlier tonight that Ohio State is set to hire former college and NFL head coach, as well as current New England Patriots offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien to be the offensive coordinator for Ohio State. ESPN’s Pete Thamel was the first to report the news, and it comes on the heels of rumors of OSU looking to hire someone to take over the playcalling duties from head coach Ryan Day.

However, as a part of that hire, it also appears as though another assistant coach may be parting ways with the program. According to multiple reports, O’Brien will be replacing quarterbacks coach Corey Dennis on staff.

Dennis, as most will recall, is the son-in-law of former head coach Urban Meyer. He has been on staff in Columbus for six years. He was a quality control coach for two years before being promoted to quarterbacks coach by Ryan Day in 2024.

No reason has yet to be provided by Ohio State, but we’ve been hearing this offseason that some significant coaching changes were in flight, and this is just another example.

Watch: Ohio State quarterback signee shows he could join Zone 6 as well

The Buckeyes are getting a phenomenal athlete #GoBucks

The hype train for [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] quarterback signee Lincoln Kienholz is boarding, and tickets are being sold fast.

The South Dakota three-sport star has finished his basketball season, for which he was named an All-State first-team player at guard for the second year in a row. He is currently playing baseball. That hasn’t stopped him from preparing for his career with the Buckeyes although not just as a quarterback.

In a clip he shared on Twitter and tagged offensive coordinator [autotag]Brian Hartline[/autotag] and quarterback coach [autotag]Corey Dennis[/autotag], Kienholz jumps, turns his body in mid-air and catches a pass with one hand on a throw behind him.

It’s safe to say Kienholz is a fantastic athlete, one whose skills will be used at the next level even if it’s throwing the passes and not catching them.

You can bet the Ohio State coaching staff can’t wait to get Kienholz on campus.

Report: Ohio State to host 2024 quarterback looking to get an offer

The Buckeyes will bring this lefty quarterback in for a visit #GoBucks

We all know once [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] lost 2024 quarterback commit Dylan Raiola, head coach [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] was going to find another top-level replacement.

Some of the best quarterbacks in the class have already made their commitments, but the Buckeyes are putting out feelers such as the one to Alabama commit [autotag]Julian Sayin[/autotag]. Day and quarterback coach [autotag]Corey Dennis[/autotag] made a visit to North Carolina’s [autotag]Jadyn Davis[/autotag] and the jury is still out on where he will end up.

The staff isn’t waiting on those players to make their decisions and is actively seeking a ‘24 class commitment. Georgia native [autotag]Prentiss Air Noland[/autotag] is a lefty who doesn’t have an offer from Ohio State but hopes that will change on March 31, when he is scheduled to visit Columbus according to a report by 247Sports Steve Wiltfong.

Noland stands 6 feet, 3 inches and weights 195 pounds. He is ranked as the No. 11 quarterback and the 137th overall prospect on the 247Sports composite.

Ohio State football recruiting roundup for late January 2023

The Buckeyes were active on the recruiting trail this weekend #GoBucks

The Ohio State football staff knows what keeps the program elite, recruiting the best athletes in the country. It doesn’t stop — even during dead periods, [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] and his staff are analyzing prospects and making changes to their recruiting priorities.

This past weekend was no different, as multiple offers went out. The Buckeyes not only hosted a transfer cornerback from the SEC, but coaches also visited high schools to make in-roads with those coaches and their recruits.

Find out below who was offered, how the visit went with the transfer, and where some of the coaching staff visited during the last weekend of January (plus some offers missed on Thursday).

WATCH: Former Ohio State QB Joe Burrow proclaims he’s still a Buckeye

The debate is over with Joe Burrow #GoBucks

There is always an argument as to who a school can claim after a player transfers, especially in a situation like former [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] quarterback [autotag]Joe Burrow[/autotag]. Even though Burrow won a national championship and Heisman Trophy with LSU, fans are divided on who can claim the Cincinnati Bengal star.

Burrow put an end to some of the debate. A viral clip of him stating “I’m still a Buckeye” has been circulating Twitter. Not only did the Athens native say  Ohio State can claim him as one of their NFL alumni, he still has a relationship with head coach [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag], quarterback coach [autotag]Corey Dennis[/autotag], strength coach [autotag]Mickey Marotti[/autotag] and “all those guys.”

So let this be the end of the debate. Burrow is an OSU graduate, got some of his training in Columbus, and was even seen on the Ohio State sideline during the game against Notre Dame.

He can be both an LSU Tiger and a Buckeye.

Ohio State coaches Ryan Day, Brian Hartline and Corey Dennis to see 5-star QB this Friday

The Buckeyes won’t be the only ones focusing on this future star #GoBucks

Playing quarterback for [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] should be a very easy sell for head coach [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag]. Since Day took over the Buckeye offense, all of his starting quarterbacks have gone on to be first-round [autotag]NFL draft[/autotag] selections. The latest is [autotag]C.J. Stoud[/autotag], at least if multiple mock drafts prove accurate.

Even though they lost out on [autotag]Dylan Raiola[/autotag], the Buckeyes should still find a high-level quarterback to replace him in the 2024 recruiting class. That search has heated up in recent days.

The staff offered a scholarship to Alabama commit [autotag]Julian Sayin[/autotag] on Tuesday. On Friday, coaches will head to North Carolina to visit quarterback [autotag]Jadyn Davis[/autotag]. New offensive coordinator [autotag]Brian Hartline[/autotag] and quarterbacks coach [autotag]Corey Dennis[/autotag] will accompany the head man on the trip.

The five-star quarterback will be busy this weekend.

A report from 247Sports Steve Wiltfong says Davis will not only visit with Ohio State coaches on Friday, but also plans to visit the University of North Carolina. Wiltfong also noted Clemson will be on hand to watch Davis work out on Wednesday, and Tigers head coach [autotag]Dabo Swinney[/autotag] will visit next week.

The Tigers aren’t the only team to see Davis on Wednesday. Georgia head coach [autotag]Kirby Smart[/autotag] is “helicoptering” in while Michigan head coach [autotag]Jim Harbaugh[/autotag] is set for an evening chat.

The competition for Davis’ pledge and ensuing signature is fierce as multiple top programs are vying for the five-star quarterback.
