BOOM! Ohio State football adds in-state linebacker to 2025 recruiting class

A midweek BOOM! #GoBucks

A weekend visit to Columbus was enough to convince Akron Hoban linebacker [autotag]Eli Lee[/autotag] that he wanted to play for [autotag]Ohio State football[/autotag].

The junior, who stands 6 feet, 3 inches and weighs 215 pounds, obtained the offer he wanted and didn’t need to wait for other schools to join the hunt. Lee is ranked on the 247Sports composite as the No. 36 player at his position and the 380th overall player in the 2025 recruiting class.

Ahead of his visit, he had four other schools offer a scholarship, but the one he received earlier this month seemingly was the only one Lee needed.

Lee becomes the fourth commit of the class, along with quarterback Tavien St. Clair, cornerback Blake Woodby and wide receiver Jayvan Boggs. Aside from St. Clair, each of the other three commits have been during this month.

Ohio State football sends out a trio of offers to defensive ends

The Buckeyes were active with offers on Monday #GoBucks

The focus of [autotag]Ohio State football[/autotag] recruiting on Monday was all about defensive ends.

The Buckeye coaching staff sent out three separate offers, one in the 2024 class and two in the 2025 class. In this cycle, Ohio State has three commitments on the defensive line: Justin Scott, Eddrick Houston and Eric Mensah.

Scott will most likely play on the interior, although his skills will allow him to play almost anywhere. As for Houston and Mensah, they’re more of a traditional style defensive end.

Let’s take a look into who was offered and their current statuses in recruiting.

Ohio State football loses 2024 in-state offensive line commit

The Buckeyes lose an offensive lineman in the 2024 class #GoBucks

[autotag]Ohio State football[/autotag] will need to find at least one, possibly two more offensive lineman after the news that in-state 2024 tackle [autotag]Marc Nave[/autotag] has decommitted from the program.

The Toledo native made a March decision to join the Buckeye recruiting class, but on Saturday, Nave opted to go a different route. The tackle stands 6-foot, 5-inches and weighs 310-pounds, is ranked as the No. 44 interior offensive lineman and 644th overall prospect in his class according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

The Buckeyes have missed out on more than a few tackle prospects recently, which makes you wonder why the coaching staff didn’t try and keep Nave in the class.

The Ohio State 2024 class now has just three line commits, and will now reshuffle their recruiting board to find others to join the class.

Ohio State offers 2025 Texas speedster running back

This Texan would look great in Scarlet and Gray #GoBucks

The need for a running back is starting to show for [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] in the 2025 recruiting class. The Buckeyes have already sent out an offer to six backs, seven if you count instate athlete [autotag]Bo Jackson[/autotag].

Another one went out to a running back today, as Texas native, [autotag]Tory Blaylock,[/autotag] has been offered by running back coach [autotag]Tony Alford[/autotag] according to the tweet. At 5 feet, 11 inches, and 175 pounds, Blaylock brings elite track speed to the gridiron.

Already holding over twenty offers from the likes of Georgia, Oregon, Tennessee, Wisconsin, and others, Blaylock fits what many collegiate programs are looking for, including the Buckeyes. Still, two classes away from signing, it seems like [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] and his staff are casting a wide net to find a back in the class.

Why Ohio State still hasn’t offered the 2025 top ranked player in Ohio?

A bit off but hopefully they pull the trigger soon #GoBucks

The [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] recruiting machine typically takes the best instate prospects while sampling top players from across the nation. For the class of 2025, athlete [autotag]Dorian Brew[/autotag] of Northmont, Ohio, ranks among the best instate talents. However, [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] and crew have not yet offered even though Notre Dame, Michigan and Wisconsin reached out with a scholarship this past week.

The Buckeyes don’t have too many offers out to the ‘25 class, but they have offered a quartet of receivers: Texas’ [autotag]Dakorien Moore[/autotag], Florida’s [autotag]Winston Watkins Jr.[/autotag] and [autotag]Jaime Ffrench[/autotag] and California’s [autotag]Kamryn Jones[/autotag]. The first three are already five-stars prospects. Among Jones’ early offers are Oregon, Tennessee, Georgia and [autotag]Washington[/autotag], and he seems trending toward five-star status.

What’s taking so long for Day to pull the trigger on Brew? One would have to think it’s due to the four other prospects being offered to this point and the staff feeling like they have legit shots at signing them.

That still to me isn’t a valid reason for not offering Brew. When you have a top player in your backyard, you offer. Hopefully, it happens because the staff is well aware of him.

Ohio State coaches Ryan Day, Brian Hartline and Corey Dennis to see 5-star QB this Friday

The Buckeyes won’t be the only ones focusing on this future star #GoBucks

Playing quarterback for [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] should be a very easy sell for head coach [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag]. Since Day took over the Buckeye offense, all of his starting quarterbacks have gone on to be first-round [autotag]NFL draft[/autotag] selections. The latest is [autotag]C.J. Stoud[/autotag], at least if multiple mock drafts prove accurate.

Even though they lost out on [autotag]Dylan Raiola[/autotag], the Buckeyes should still find a high-level quarterback to replace him in the 2024 recruiting class. That search has heated up in recent days.

The staff offered a scholarship to Alabama commit [autotag]Julian Sayin[/autotag] on Tuesday. On Friday, coaches will head to North Carolina to visit quarterback [autotag]Jadyn Davis[/autotag]. New offensive coordinator [autotag]Brian Hartline[/autotag] and quarterbacks coach [autotag]Corey Dennis[/autotag] will accompany the head man on the trip.

The five-star quarterback will be busy this weekend.

A report from 247Sports Steve Wiltfong says Davis will not only visit with Ohio State coaches on Friday, but also plans to visit the University of North Carolina. Wiltfong also noted Clemson will be on hand to watch Davis work out on Wednesday, and Tigers head coach [autotag]Dabo Swinney[/autotag] will visit next week.

The Tigers aren’t the only team to see Davis on Wednesday. Georgia head coach [autotag]Kirby Smart[/autotag] is “helicoptering” in while Michigan head coach [autotag]Jim Harbaugh[/autotag] is set for an evening chat.

The competition for Davis’ pledge and ensuing signature is fierce as multiple top programs are vying for the five-star quarterback.

Quick hitting Friday Ohio State Football recruiting update

The Buckeyes are at it again, with a bunch of offers out #GoBucks

The Buckeyes are at it again: Another flurry of offers has been sent out to high school prospects. The last time [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] and his staff offered a bunch of prospects, it was mainly along the defensive line on Wednesday.

It seems Day and his staff have been hard at work going over tape of high school football players and making decisions on scholarships. On Friday, another round went out and [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] learned it had missed on an Illinois tight end prospect.

Find out below who was offered, along with which prospect the Buckeyes missed on in another exciting recruiting day for the Buckeyes.

Ohio 2024 tight end has home state Buckeyes in top group

Keep him home! #GoBucks

The Ohio State football program loves to keep top talent staying home and as one of the most talent-rich high school football states in the country, it’s a good option for the program. Head coach [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] has been selective about which Ohioans he goes hard after due to the vast national reach the Buckeye program has.

One of those select instate players that has an OSU offer is 2024 tight end [autotag]Elias Rudolph[/autotag], who released a list of schools that he will be considering going forward. Ohio State made the cut along with Penn State, Michigan State, [autotag]Kentucky[/autotag], Tennessee, Michigan, and a few others.

With Cade Stover returning, the position is in very good hands for the 2023 season, but not much experience behind him. There is an opportunity for early playing time for Rudolph if he opts to play for Ohio State and that most likely is a big selling point for Day.

Tennessee 2024 athlete has Ohio State in his top 5

The Buckeyes made up a lot of ground in the last few months #GoBucks

The Buckeyes missed on a scholarship running back during the 2023 recruiting cycle though they took a preferred walk-on, [autotag]Willtrell Hartson[/autotag]).

They have not yet focused their efforts on the 2024 class of prospects either. As an example, when Tennessee’s [autotag]Boo Carter[/autotag] announced his initial top list of 12 schools in October, [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] was nowhere to be found.

Fast forward about two months and [autotag]Ryan Day[/autotag] has made a positive enough impression on Carter to be included in his top five along with Oregon, Colorado, Michigan and home state Tennessee. It’s a very good development for Day and running backs coach [autotag]Tony Alford[/autotag]. The need to add another quality back in the next cycle is very important.

What’s interesting about Carter is there is potential for him to play on the defensive side of the ball if playing on offense doesn’t work out. In short, he’s a football player we would love to see suit up in scarlet and gray at the next level.

Thoughts on Ohio State’s disappointing early signing period results

It might have seemed like this was a bad day, but it wasn’t all bad #GoBucks

We all know how yesterday went, in the short term the Buckeyes looked very much like one of the losers of the day. Not only did they not get a verbal from either of the two 5-star prospects they were finalists for, [autotag]Matayo Uiagalelei [/autotag] or [autotag]Damon Wilson[/autotag], they lost [autotag]Kayin Lee[/autotag] as he flipped to [autotag]Auburn[/autotag].

To make matters worse, defensive back commit [autotag]Jayden Bonsu[/autotag] is still in the air, having tweeted he signed but no indication with who, [autotag]Miami (FL)[/autotag] being the other potential choice. Oh and transfer tackle [autotag]Ajani Cornelius[/autotag] chose Oregon over the Buckeyes as well.

It might have seemed like the sky was falling, but that’s not all that we can take away from the start to the early signing period. Find out what I thought about this disappointment and direction of [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] Football.

(Edit: as of 8:32 a.m. it has been reported by multiple outlets that Bonsu has officially signed with Ohio State)
