Black Stripe Alert! Freshman phenom Julian Sayin loses black stripe

So you’re “Sayin” he’s pretty good! #GoBucks

They say this kid is pretty good. Freshman phenom Julian Sayin has lost his black stripe and is officially a member of the brotherhood. Sayin originally committed to Alabama but in the wake of Nick Saban’s unexpected retirement, the five-star quarterback entered the transfer portal and chose Ohio State.

Sayin was ranked as the No. 3 overall quarterback in the 2024 class according to 247Sports composite rankings. Some saw the move as a shock as the Buckeyes already had Air Noland who was ranked as the No. 7 overall QB. From all accounts, the Carlsbad, California native is fitting in just fine in Columbus and many who have eyes on the ground say he could be pushing for playing time early.

We’d be shocked if he gets the nod over Will Howard or Devin Brown this season, but next year… look out. This young man is looking to make a name for himself in Scarlet and Gray.

Ohio State recruiting scouting report: Julian Sayin

Ohio State recruiting scouting report: Julian Sayin #GoBucks

Ohio State football had another dominant recruiting class and was a consensusĀ top-five class in the country. Once again, the class features more than a few heavy hitters on the offensive side of the football. The Buckeyes also added a surprising “transfer,” who will be coming into spring as a true freshman in Julian Sayin.

Name: Julian Sayin

High School: Carlsbad (Carlsbad, California)

Height: 6 feet, 1 inch

Weight: 195 pounds

Position: Quarterback

Strengths

Sayin is a different level prospect, much like when we discussed Jeremiah Smith, Sayin checks all of the boxes of an elite recruit. Sayin has the arm talent to hit every blade of grass with excellent touch. Every time the football leaves his hand, it looks perfect.

NEXT … Weaknesses

Former Alabama OC Bill O’Brien accepts job as Boston College head coach

Former Alabama and Ohio State OC Bill O’Brien accepts Boston College HC job

On January 19th, [autotag]Bill O’Brien[/autotag] was unveiled as the offensive coordinator for the Ohio State Buckeyes. Just three weeks later, and O’Brien is on the move again as he will be taking over the Boston College head coaching job. Former Boston College head coach Jeff Hafley made the shocking decision to step away last week in favor of a defensive coordinator position with the Green Bay Packers.

The former Alabama offensive coordinator spent the 2023 season with [autotag]Mac Jones[/autotag] and the New England Patriots, but with Bill Belichick being let go the Patriots decided to clean house. O’Brien was a big factor in the Buckeyes landing QB [autotag]Julian Sayin[/autotag] from Alabama, so you have to wonder what this might mean for Sayin’s future.

Ohio State has already replaced O’Brien as they landed UCLA head coach Chip Kelly today.

Ohio State grabs 2024 quarterback Julian Sayin, who is off the board for USC

Ryan Day, after a failed 2023 season, is cleaning up in the offseason. Some guys have all the luck.

The Ohio State Buckeyes and Ryan Day continue to win big recruitments and feast on other programs’ departing players. Quarterback prospect Julian Sayin committed to Alabama but then transferred once Nick Saban retired. Ohio State picked off Sayin to bolster its roster even more in a highly productive offseason.

Buckeyes Wire has more on the story:

AlabamaĀ transfer quarterbackĀ Julian SayinĀ committed to the Buckeyes, giving them yet another elite option at the position for the coming years. The California native stands 6-foot, 1-inch and weighs 195-pounds, held an offer from Ohio State while he was committed to the Crimson Tide.

“Sayin signed and then enrolled early, but everything changed when Nick SabanĀ announced his retirement. The No. 3 quarterback and 21st overall prospect according to theĀ 247Sports Composite RankingsĀ in the 2024 class entered the transfer portal on Friday and wasĀ immediately connected to Ohio State.”

This removes Sayin from consideration for USC. A lot of Trojan fans had wondered if Sayin was a possibility for Lincoln Riley. That door is now closed.

Ohio State lands 5-star Alabama transfer quarterback Julian Sayin

Another BOOM!!! for the Buckeyes this weekend

Ohio State football is on an absolute recruiting heater at the moment, and the good times continued on Sunday afternoon.

Alabama transfer quarterback [autotag]Julian Sayin[/autotag] committed to the Buckeyes, giving them yet another elite option at the position for the coming years. The California native stands 6-foot, 1-inch and weighs 195-pounds, held an offer from Ohio State while he was committed to the Crimson Tide.

Sayin signed and then enrolled early, but everything changed when Nick Saban announced his retirement. The No. 3 quarterback and 21st overall prospect according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings in the 2024 class entered the transfer portal on Friday and was immediately connected to Ohio State.

All the rumors turned out to be true, as Sayin joins one of the best 2024 recruiting classes. He is the third former Alabama player to join Ohio State during this transfer portal cycle following center Seth McLaughlin and safety Caleb Downs.

Former Alabama QB Julian Sayin transfers to Ohio State

Julian Sayin recently hit the portal, and he has now announced his commitment.

Quarterback Julian Sayin was an early enrollee for the Crimson Tide after signing with the program as one of the top prospects of the 2024 recruiting cycle. Without having spent much time at Alabama, Sayin is now on the move to Ohio State.

The news of Sayin entering the transfer portal did not come immediately after Nick Saban retired, but very quickly after the Tide landed a commitment from Washington true freshman quarterback Austin Mack.

Ohio State has landed a few Alabama transfers this offseason. Sayin will be joining former Crimson Tide center Seth McLaughlin and defensive back Caleb Downs. The Buckeyes also recently hired former Alabama offensive coordinator Bill O’Brien as the team’s new offensive play-caller.

Alabama has plenty of depth at quarterback, but many viewed Sayin as the future of the Crimson Tide.

Ohio State is believed to be the leader in the Julian Sayin sweepstakes

Because Miller Moss played so well in the Holiday Bowl, USC’s needs at QB aren’t as acute as previously thought.

The transfer of quarterback Julian Sayin from Alabama has generated big headlines in college football circles. This is a premium quarterback on the open market, and the top programs are in the hunt.

USC could be one of them, but the Trojans appear to be playing catch-up with Ohio State.

Roll Tide Wire has more:

“On Thursday, AlabamaĀ landed a quarterbackĀ via the transfer portal, but it did not take long for the Crimson Tide to subsequently lose a quarterback to the portal. After recently signing with the program, top 2024 quarterbackĀ Julian Sayin entered the transfer portalĀ and there are already favorites to pick him up.

“The quarterback Alabama earned a commitment from was 2023 recruit Austin Mack, who was a true freshman last season and retains all four years of eligibility. With Mack joining the team, Sayin is out.

“Pete NakosĀ of On3 reports thatĀ USCĀ andĀ Ohio State appear to be the early leaders to land the incoming freshman.”

We will see where this drama leads in the coming weeks.

Former Alabama five-star QB Julian Sayin could come home to Southern California and USC

This is a focus of intense speculation and national interest in the college football world.

Julian Sayin is back on the market, entering the transfer portal Friday after previously signing with Alabama in the 2024 recruiting class.

A five-star prospect and the No. 3 quarterback in the country per the 247Sports composite, Sayin joined Caleb Downs, Kaydn Proctor, and plenty of other top recruits who all entered the transfer portal after the stunning announcement of Nick Saban’s retirement.

The Carlsbad, California, native committedĀ to the Crimson Tide in November of 2022 when Nick Saban was the AlabamaĀ coach and Bill O’Brien was the offensive coordinator.

According to Chris Hummer with 247Sports, there is a growing belief that Sayin will wind up at Ohio State via the portal. Hummer, Steve Wiltfong, and Tom Loy have all logged a transfer crystal ball for Sayin to join Ryan Dayā€™s program.

ā€œIā€™d be shocked if he didnā€™t end up at Ohio State,ā€ Hummer cited one source as saying while citing others who claim the Buckeyes are in an excellent position to acquire Sayin.

The 2023 Elite 11 winner from Carlsbad will also have UCLA, USC, Texas, and Ole Miss on his list.

Ohio State receives crystal ball picks for former 5-star transfer

This would be another huge transfer addition for the Buckeyes. #GoBucks

We may seem like a broken record here at Buckeyes Wire, but Alabamaā€™s loss of Nick Saban continues to look like Ohio Stateā€™s gain.

This time a former 5-star recruit, quarterback [autotag]Julian Sayin,[/autotag] is the target. The Buckeyes were a bit late into his recruitment, but clearly left an impression on the former Crimson Tide player.

Sayin is expected to enter the transfer portal, and even before his official entrance into it has received crystal ball picks to end up in Columbus. 247Sports Tom Loy was first and now Chris Hummer and Steve Wiltfong followed suit. He was the top quarterback of the 2023 class and No. 5 recruit nationally according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

Head coach Ryan Day has made multiple moves to improve the quarterback room since the 2023 seasonā€™s starter Kyle McCord entered the transfer portal. Former Kansas State starter, Will Howard, was brought in the bridge to gap this coming season, Air Noland was signed in the 2024 recruiting class and Sayin would be a literal icing on the cake.

Flurry of transfer projections have former Alabama signee heading to Ohio State

Ohio State receiving projections for five-star quarterback Julian Sayin.

It should come as a surprise to absolutely no one that 2024 five-star signee Julian Sayin would be a hot commodity. It appears that many in the industry are already giving their projections as to where he might land next.

Just hours after the initial report surfaced that Sayin would enter the transfer portal, it appears that he may already have his new home selected. Three recruiting analysts have logged crystal ball predictions for the Ohio State Buckeyes to reap the benefit of Nick Saban’s retirement.

Tom Loy of Notre Dame Insider and national analysts Chris Hummer and Steve Wiltfong have Ohio State head coach Ryan Day landing Sayin. Ohio State and USC were likely viewed as frontrunners considering their track record with quarterbacks at the collegiate level. Sayin is from California but it appears that he could be wearing Scarlet and Gray very soon.

The Buckeyes did add composite five-star quarterback Air Noland in the 2024 class but as we know, the transfer portal can diminish your depth at any position at a moment’s notice.

As for the Buckeyes, they lost 2023 starter Kyle McCord to the Syracuse Orange via the transfer portal ahead of their Cotton Bowl matchup against Missouri. The team had Devin Brown as the starter for that game with Noland coming into the fold for next season.

There is now another name who could potentially be added with Sayin likely committing relatively soon.

Just another day in the world of college football thanks to the transfer portal. Keep your head on a swivel because this can all change at any time.
